The photo was taken by Whyte Studio, in Boise (Ada Co.). I don't know if McFarlands actually lived in Boise or went to Boise for the the photograph.
They were friends of my great-grandparents Carlsons who migrated in a railroad boxcar from Eastonville, El Paso Co., Colorado, in 1903, with two other families. Carlsons first went to Weiser (Washington Co.), then in 1904 to Emmett (Gem Co.), & finally settled in High Valley (now Valley County) in 1906, where they homesteaded & ran a stage stop. McFarlands could be friends from any of these areas. I have no first names. I'm afraid a dog named Badger isn't much of a clue.
