Setting Up Your Yahoo! ID To Access The CAGGNIMembers community at Yahoo! Groups


  About the CAGGNIMembers community at Yahoo! Groups

As part of CAGG-NI’s ongoing effort to be of better service to its members, a Yahoo! Group community called CAGGNIMembers has been established. CAGG-NI will use this group for the following:

  • Automatic notice of meetings and other events
  • Distribution of the newsletter (and access to the archive of recent issues).
  • Communication for sharing of new found resources.
    •

The CAGGNIMembers community is a limited access forum, it can be joined by invitation only. After receiving the invitation to join the community, you have a limited number of days to accept the membership and complete the process to join the community.



The first step in this process is to create a Yahoo ID for yourself, if you don't already have one. You must have a Yahoo ID to join a Yahoo Group. Before starting this procedure, think of a Yahoo ID which you would like as your own.

To begin the process of setting up your free Yahoo! ID, go to the Yahoo! Groups Home Page at: http://groups.yahoo.com and follow click on one of the registrition links on the page. (See Steps 1 through 4, in the figure below.)

Complete the required data fields on the registration form and click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page. (See Steps 5 through 6, in the figure below.)

As a safeguard, Yahoo! will send an e-mail to the address you supplied when you registered for your Free account. This technique prevents other people from harassing you by signing you up for accounts and mail lists. (See Steps 7, and 8 in the figure below.)

You are asked to retrieve this e-mail which contains a confirmation link. Click on the link in the e-mail which will take you back to Yahoo. This confirms your account registration. If the link does not work, there are instructions in the e-mail on copying the verification code and entering it in the slot provided back at Yahoo. (See Steps 8 and 9, in the figure below.)

You may click on the "Edit your Marketing Preferences" link if you would like to select categories to receive e-mail offers or avoid marketing messages. Naturally, most everything is checked as "Yes" by default so you may want to change these. After changes have been made, click "Continue" each time it is presented unless you want to make more changes depending on what the screen is offering. (See Steps 10 and 11, in the figure below.)

You are now registered with Yahoo. Be sure to keep your user name (Yahoo ID) and password handy so you can use it once the invitation to join the CAGGNIMembers community at Yahoo! Groups group is received; the invitation will contain instructions as to what you need to do to join the community.
