What Calhoun County is Famous For

Calhoun County, Illinois, has two navigable rivers touching four-fifths of its border. This cannot be said of any other county in the state. It has ten ferries, no railroads, no colored population, and, formerly had no telegraph nor no banks. Calhoun is also noted for its fine apples and as being the residence of our state senator.
