WARD
Alison Clement 22 Dec 12:07:51 2001

I'm looking for information about a woman named Alva S. WARD or a man named Wilbert WARD (probably her son)?  I have a box of old family photos  --almost none of which have names written on them, of course. Two of the  pictures though identify Alva Ward and if I knew who she was, who her  parents were and who she married, I think I could then identify many of the  other pictures. Can anyone help? I suspect that WARD is her husband's name. In one photo, she's holding a baby identified as Wilbert.

(Most of the people in the photographs are from Morgan, Pike or Cass  Counties, I believe-- I'm related to the  CLEMENT/SMITH/GOODPASTURE/LOE/DUNAVAN families among others.)

WILKIE
Jim McMillen 26 Mar 4:00:29 2001

William and Euphemia Gall Wilkie (spelled Woolkie in the 1850 census) came to Cass County from Scotland in the first half of the 1840s. A family tradition says that there were several families who came together from Scotland about 1842, very possibly those who are shown in the 1850 census living close together, apparently in the area a few miles east of Virginia. Does anyone have any further information about this migration?

Their children, who were born between 1814 and 1831 in Perthshire, their spouses, and number of children:

Cecelia Wilkie, married William Coupar (Cooper)(3 ch.) and Rev. James Needham (4 ch).
William Wilkie, probably stayed in Scotland.
Jane (or Jean) Wilkie, married Duncan Reid (8 ch).
Isabelle Wilkie, married Arthur Davidson (5 ch) and Christian Slater (5 ch).
George Wilkie, married Mary Campbell (5 ch) and Mary Hamilton (3 ch).
Agnes Wilkie, married brothers Walter Hill (1 ch) and George Hill (2 ch) and Alexander Sibbald (1 ch).
John Wilkie, apparently never married.
Euphemia Wilkie, married Thomas Cunningham (6 ch).

I would like to hear from anyone with information about this Wilkie family. Since three brothers of the family of George and Isabella Hill married children or grandchildren of the Wilkies, I'd like to hear from any of these Hills, too.

I am looking for information on Hawkshaw's in Cass County.  My GG Grandmother Hattie Hawkshaw, was born in Cass County on October 5th 1873.  Her parents were James Hawkshaw and Sarah Miller.  Hattie lived most of her life in Brown County, Ill where she married George Fink.  Any information  will be greatly appreciated.  I will share what I have also.
