KUELLING
Robert Wacaser 23 Jul 3:54:27 1999

Since submitting a query and photos in June of 1998 showing a class of school children playing London Bridge and a flooded intersection which were on postcards from Beardstown, I have learned that my cousin, known to me as Rose Kuelling, was actually Martha Rosie Kuelling. The postcards were just signed "Martha" and I had no idea that Rose's name was Martha.
So, this may be the person who sent the cards. Is there anyway to find out if there was Kuelling teaching in Beardstown in 1912/13 ?

Many thanks,

Robert Wacaser

MCLAIN, MCCLAIN
Pam Ellis 27 Jun 6:41:53 1999

I am looking for information on my Great Grandfather William McClain/McLain and his family. William left Cass County, IL and lived for a while in Marion County, MO from the mid 1890's to the early 1900's. He met and married my Great Grandmother Phillipena H. Patre and they were married in the Town of Palmyra Oct. 12, 1898. They had two children: Christena Francis born Nov. 1899 and George Elton born Nov. 28, 1901 (my Grandfather). In 1904 Phillipena was granted a divorce from William on the grounds of desertion. I was told by relatives that he may have returned to Cass County, IL to his family and get a fresh start. I would like to find out if he did return and if he ever remarried and had other children that are still living. My Grandfather George Elton McClain died in 1980 and his sister Christena Francis died in 1984. My father George W. McClain Sr. died in 1995 and my older brother George W. McClain Jr. died in 1991. I would like to know more about my McClain/McLain roots. Can anyone out there help me?

FORRESTER
Tom Forrester 31 May 3:10:56 1999

My name is Tom Forrester. I am told that my grandfather and grandmother got married in Beardstown in Cass County. I was wondering if there was a record of the marriage somewhere.

Their names were Cecil Ovid Forrester and Cecil May (Treece) Griffith. They should have been married about 1924 or 1925. I am very interested to get the exact date since no one in our family seems to have it. Both had been married before and, of course, divorce was considered somewhat scandalous back then.

I appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.

STONEKING, MITCHEL
William Le Var 23 Jan 11:44:38 1999

Looking for info (and verification of info) on: F. E. Stoneking (or maybe Fanny Stoneking)

I have no birth info and no death info, but I learned from my aunt that she was baptised in Fandon, IL (I believe there is a baptismal certificate somewhere). She was married to Hugh Mitchel.

Once again no birth info nor death info. He was listed in the 1910 census as being born in IL. I was also told by a greataunt that he was a doctor. They had a son:

Harry S. Mitchel B: 1 MAR 1870 or 1874 Colchester, IL McDonough Co. D: 9 JUN 1943 Los Alamitos, CA Los Angeles Co.

Harry S. Mitchel died Harry M. Mitchell (name on death certificate--the difference in the number of Ls is not a typing mistake (at least not on my part *L*)). Hugh Mitchel of England was also listed on the death certificate as his father (contradicts 1910 census record). He and Olive Gertrude Blakeman (B: 7 FEB 1875 in Pueblo, CO) had 8 children.

1) Grace Maud Mitchel B: 6 MAR 1893 Beardstown (Cass Co), IL M: Ed Jersey
2) Ruth Frances Mitchel B: 3 JUL 1897 Clovis (Fresno Co), CA M: George Sproul
3) Bernice Ardiss Mitchel B: 5 FEB 1900 Beardstown (Cass Co), IL M: Carson Ruiz
4) Arthur Percival Mitchel B: 6 MAY 1902 Riverside (Riverside Co), CA M: None
5) Robert Paul Mitchel B: 6 MAY 1902 Riverside (Riverside Co), CA M: 1-? 2-Laura Ruth Thomas
6) Abagail Loise Mitchel B: 6 JUL 1903 Riverside (Riverside Co), CA M: 1-Joseph Sullivan 2-Roy
7) Cecil Gertrude Mitchel B: 11 JAN 1907 Riverside (Riverside Co), CA M: Erving Zaslove
8) Naomi Mitchel B: 3 DEC 1909 Riverside (Riverside Co), CA M: 1-Ellis Arthur Gorton 2-Toney Le Var

My grandmother being the last. At Harry and Olive's divorce Ruth, Arthur and Robert went with their father; Bernice and Grace went to their grandparents in IL; Abby, Cecil and Naomi went with their mother.

Any and all help discovering more about my family (and straightening out this mess) would be greatly appreciated!
