Frances Irene Black, 1913-2007, Beardstown
Frances Irene Black, 94, of Beardstown, died Saturday morning, Dec. 22, 2007, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.
She was born Aug. 9, 1913, in rural Philadelphia, the daughter of Alva Cyrus and Lou Walton Black.
She is survived by five nieces, Dee Coffey, Karen Cox, Carolyn Budwick, Marge Frederick and Naomi Copes; and two nephews, Walt Lyles and Jake Cramer. She was preceded in death by five sisters Iva and Nadine Black, Glenna Lyles, Mabel Cramer and Della Stark; and two brothers, Walter and Harry Black.
Ms. Black was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Peoria. She worked for many years for WABCO in Peoria until her retirement in 1978.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Condolences may be sent to sagerfh@casscomm.com.

Ernest 'Buster' Blair, 1921-2007, Beardstown
Ernest 'Buster' Blair, 85, of Beardstown, died Thursday evening, July 19, 2007, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 21, 1921 in Cass County, the son of Leta Blair. He married Letitia Lynn on July 22, 1939, in Bowling Green, Mo., and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Lynn Allen (wife, Kay) of Waupaca, Wis., four grandchildren; one half-sister: Betty Jo (husband, Clint) Ruppel of Petersburg; and one half-brother Richard Garner of Virginia. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Linda Sue Shoemaker.
Mr. Blair was a member of the Beardstown Elks Club, where he enjoyed playing cards. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 43rd Infantry in the South Pacific. He worked for C.I. P.S. for 40 years as a Lineman and then later a Supervisor, retiring at age 65.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chandlerville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville. Gregory A. "Greg" Blair, 50, of Urbana, and formerly of Chandlerville and Beardstown, died Tuesday morning, December 19 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Memorial services were held Friday, December 22 at First Presbyterian Church, Virginia. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association.

Gregory A. "Greg" Blair, 50 years of Urbana, IL and formerly of Chandlerville and Beardstown, IL died Tuesday morning, December 19, 2006 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
He was born July 25, 1956 in Danville, IL the son of James F. and Bertha Conner Blair. He married Amanda Wilmoth on September 17, 1996 in Chandlerville, IL and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Michael Blair of Jacksonville; one daughter, Jennifer Blair of Jacksonville; one stepson, Johnathan Hudson of Chatham, IL; one stepdaughter, Tosha Nave (husband, Dutch) of Springfield, IL; two brothers, Brian Blair (wife, Tammy) of Beardstown, IL and Odie Blair of Bath; one sister, Lori Hardy (husband, Tony) of Williamsville, IL; four step grandchildren, Dylan, Gracy, Tayla, Jordon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Michael J. Blair and Mark "Mosey" Blair.
Mr. Blair was currently employed by Wayne Transporation of Rosemount, Minnesota as a truck driver. He was previously employed Brisk Transportation of Urbana for 6 ½ years. He was a graduate of Chandlerville High School, attended Chandlerville Baptist Church, was member of ABATE, H.O.G., and several trucking associations. One of his greatest loves was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 22, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church, (281 East Hardin Street, Virginia. The family will greet friends from 1:00 to 2:00 Friday at the Church. Mary Christine Blair - 1928-2003 - Ashland
Mary Christine Blair, 75 years, of Ashland, went to her new heavenly home to spend eternity with Jesus Christ on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 31, 2003 at her residence after an extended illness.
She was born June 17, 1928 in Schuyler County, the daughter of Lewis Clement and Lela Lurene Shaver Milby. She married Billy E. Blair, Sr. on March 18, 1950 in Canton, and he survives.
She is also survived by two sons, Billy E. "J.R." Jr. (wife, Kathie) of Ashland and Kenneth L. of Dallas; one grandson, Adam B. (wife, Jennifer) Blair of Ashland; three brothers, Merle (wife, Peggy) Milby of Vermont, Harold (wife, Charlotte) Milby of Beardstown, and Leslie (wife, Judy) Milby of Macomb; five sisters, Faye Avery of Rushville, Florence (husband, Francis) Edwards of Petersburg, Rosalie Fahnders of Pekin, Ramona (husband, Virgil) Henderson of Macomb, and Joyce (husband, Richard) Goodwin of Pekin; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by a brother, Morris Milby (surviving wife, Frances Milby Smith of Rushville).
Mrs. Blair was a 50 year resident of Cass County. She was a Christian, a homemaker, and a farm wife. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she was a member of the Ashland Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for many years and worked with the Kids for Christ Youth Group.
Services celebrating Christine's life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Ashland with burial in Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the church where the family will meet friends from 5-7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice, Village of Ashland-Park Fund, or SIU Alzheimer's Center. Shirley E. Blair, 1936-2008, Chandlerville
Shirley E. Blair, 71, of Chandlerville, died Thursday evening, Feb. 14, 2008, at her residence.
She was born April 3, 1936, in Ashland, the daughter of Walter and Wilma Epperson Maddox. She married John Blair on Jan. 28, 1977, in Bath, and he survives.
She is also survived by two sons, Steven (wife, Amy) Theivagt of Virginia and David Theivagt of Columbia, S.C.; five grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Boston of Jacksonville and Sandra (husband, Jim) Dawdy of Murrayville; and one brother Jack (wife, Vicki) Maddox of Ormond Beach, Fla. She was preceded in death by one stepson, Kevin.
Mrs. Blair was a member of Virginia Church of Christ and Chandlerville American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to play cards and Aggravation, and loved to help others. She worked for Ideal Industries in Petersburg for many years until her retirement.

Willmon Blake, 1940-2007, Beardstown
Willis Willmon Blake, 66, of Beardstown, died Thursday morning, May 17, 2007, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 29, 1940, in Beardstown, the son of Willis Willard and Helen Louise Maltby Blake.
He is survived by his companion, Janet D. Landes of Beardstown; three daughters, Estella "Mia" Blake, Christina "Chrissie" (husband, Richard) Graham, and Susan Blake-Fowler all of Beardstown; four grandchildren, Bryan and Michael Bigham, Ashley Embree and Levi Graham; three brothers, Walter "Scootie" (wife, Donna) and Willard "Boy" (wife, Violet), both of Beardstown and Bill (wife, Pam) of Athens; and two sisters, Waynette (husband, Gary) Mason of Beardstown and Willa (husband, Gerald Moore) Blake of Tennessee.
Mr. Blake attended Beardstown High School. He worked construction for Local 235 in Jacksonville for many years. He enjoyed restoring old cars, attending swap meets and upholstering.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Family will meet with friends from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Joyce Dale Blakeman, 2 ¸ year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Blakeman, Ashland died Friday afternoon at St. John’s hospital, Springfield. She was ill one day. Surviving are five brothers, Elmer, Paul, Harry D., Mose Jr., and James; and three sisters Corinne, Mary Ann and Barbara Jo, all at home. The remains were take to the Gainer funeral home at Ashland.

Five members of John Bliming family have died of consumption this year. Monday, son John, age 23 and daughter, Louise, age 18 died five minutes apart.

Mrs. Maude McKenzie Blohm of Carlsbad, NM and formerly of Beardstown died recently in Carlsbad.
She was born in Beardstown a daughter of Mary Agnes and B. McKenzie. She married Lee R. Blohm in September 1910. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Lyle of Carlsbad and Robert of El Paso, Tex; and six
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held in Carlsbad.

Orville E. 'Dutch' Blum, 1921-2007
Orville "Dutch" Blum, 85, of Beardstown, died Friday evening, Jan. 12, 2007, at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown.
He was born Feb. 16, 1921, in Beardstown, the son of Elmer and Margaret Stock Blum. He married Mary Frances Fischer on Aug. 15, 1945, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Arenzville, and she survives.
He is also survived by twin sons, Gary (wife, Gerry) of Beardstown and Larry (wife, Linda) of Pawnee; his daughter, Karen (husband, Mark) Osborn of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, Bill (wife, Lora) Davis, Brian (wife, Kelly) Davis, Travis (wife, Jen) Osborn, Melissa Osborn, Stephen (wife, Shannon) Blum and Neil Blum; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Brice Davis; and one sister, Freida Carls.
Mr. Blum attended school in Beardstown and then entered the U.S. Army, where he served from 1942-1945 during World War II in he European Theater. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Arenzville. He was formerly a part-time farmer in Cass County and police officer for Arenzville and Beardstown. He retired after 20 years of service from Bohn Aluminum in Beardstown and after retirement was still very active carrying out various jobs. He was an avid Gold Wing Motorcyclist for many years.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Arenzville. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at Arenzville North Cemetery. Margie M. Bohlmann, 64, of Beardstown, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 21, 2002, at Doctor's Hospital in Springfield.
She was born May 19, 1938, in Watseka, the daughter of Charles "Tobe" and V. Pearl Rader Smith. She married Willard K. Bohlmann July 26, 1959, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Woodworth, and he survives in Beardstown.
She is also survived by two daughters, Valerie (husband, Mike) Chambers of Bluff Springs and Teresa (husband, Mark) Russell of Springfield; three grandchildren; and one sister, Yvonne Wilson of Danville. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Billy Smith and Frank Bigger; and one sister, Nina Louise, in infancy.
Mrs. Bohlmann graduated from Milford Township High School in the class of 1956. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She formerly served as a "Pink Lady" at Schmidt Memorial Hospital in Beardstown and was formerly active on a Monday Night Bowling League in Beardstown where she also served as secretary. Mrs. Bohlmann previously served as secretary for St. John's Lutheran Church and School in Beardstown for seven years and she was also formerly employed at the Clothes Connection in Beardstown. She thoroughly enjoyed playing bridge and was very active in two bridge clubs in Beardstown.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown, with burial at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery near Beardstown. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at the Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown with the family meeting friends from 6-8 p.m. The remains will also be taken to the church one hour prior to the services Saturday. Memorials have been suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown or Prairie Heart Institute.

John Robert "Bob" Boice, 70, of Beardstown, died Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown.
He was born May 19, 1938 in Beardstown, the son of John and Bernice Surratt Boice.
He married Yvonne M. Jockisch on November 2, 1969 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown. She preceded him in death in April of 2003.
Surviving is one daughter, Madeline (husband, Jack) Hefley of Beardstown; one brother, Gerald (wife, Sharon) Boice of Sherman; one sister, Charlotte Milby of Beardstown; five grandchildren, Hope Hefley, Jack Wetherell, Adam Boice, Abby Boice and Grace Boice; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jonathan.
Bob was a graduate of Beardstown High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany from 1961 to 1963 which was during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Then he attended Purdue University for two years receiving an Associate Architectural Engineer Degree. He was formerly employed as Senior Structural Steel Inspector for the State of Illinois for 35 years. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown, a member of the Cass Lodge #23 A.F. & A.M. and also a member of the York Rite in Rushville. He was a member of the Versailles Genealogical Society and served as Boy Scouts of America as a Scout Master for a Beardstown troop. He loved to camp and travel and was ready to "pick up and go" at a moments notice. He is leaving his family with many fascinating memories.
Masonic services were held Monday June 9, at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown by Cass Lodge #23 with RWB Kent Drawve serving as Worshipful Master, RWB Wilbur Morrow as chaplain, and WB Larry Gabbert as secretary.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 10, at First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown with Rev. Rosalee Ross of Rushville officiating. L. Milton McClure gave the eulogy.
Organist Judy Smith played selected hymns and accompanied vocalist Melissa Roat as she sang "The Old Rugged Cross." A special song "Man of His Word" was also played.
Honorary pallbearers were: Chris Milby and Tris Milby.
Pallbearers were: Jim Lauderback, Matt Piluski, Mike Roat, Jon Edwards, Joni Vincent, and Tom Downing.
Burial was in the Beardstown City Cemetery with military services provided by Guthrie-Pierce VFW Post #1239 of Beardstown officiating. Those participating were: Commander Victor Smith; Chaplain Craig Stevens; Squad Leader Les Farwell; Color Guard Calvin Anderson; Tony Patterson,Dan Lenning, Dana Stevens, and Ronald Summey; Rifle Squad Lanny Smith, Louis McCulley, Leo Carlock, Frank Stailey, Brian DeLoche, Jeremy Westlake, and Jim Park. "Taps" was played by Adrian DeLoche. Bagpipes were played by Craig Stevens and Jim Park.
At the conclusion of the military service, 70 balloons were released signifying the years of the like of John Robert Boice.
Memorials have been suggested for the Versailles Genealogy Society.

Jonathan R. Boice, 1975-2008, Beardstown
Johnathan R. Boice, 32, of Beardstown, died Thursday evening, Jan. 17, 2008, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 5, 1975, in Jacksonville, the son of John Robert "Bob" and Yvonne M. Jockisch Boice.
He is survived by his father of Beardstown; one son, Adam of Beardstown; twin daughters Grace and Abby of Beardstown; one sister, Madeline (husband, Jack) Hefley of Beardstown; one niece; and numerous aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Mr. Boice graduated from Beardstown High School in 1993 and was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown. He was currently employed at the Central Tavern in Beardstown and previously worked at the Book Bindery in Jacksonville. He was an avid Cubs fan.

Yvonne M. Boice - 1941-2003 - Beardstown
Yvonne M. Boice, 61, of Beardstown, died Friday afternoon, April 25, 2003, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
She was born May 30, 1941, in rural Beardstown, the daughter of Clyde C. and Christine Elizabeth Hendricker Jockisch. She married John "Bob" Boice Nov. 2, 1969, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown and he survives in Beardstown.
She is also survived by one daughter, Madeline (husband, Jack) Hefley of Beardstown; one son, Jonathan Boice of Beardstown; one granddaughter, Hope Nicole Hefley of Beardstown; one step-grandson, Jack Michael of Bluffs; three sisters, Sharon, (husband, Jerry) Boice of Beardstown, Joanne (husband, Larry) Piluski, of Rushville, and Janet (husband, Bob) Lauderback of Beardstown; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Boice graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1959 and from Brown's Business College in Springfield in 1959. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown for over 38 years where she spent many years serving as the church organist and pianist. Mrs. Boice was previously employed with the State of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services in Springfield and the Jacksonville State Hospital. One of her greatest pleasures was shopping in Atlanta, Ga., but her truest joy came in loving her family and especially spending time with her granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery.

Betty Lee Boker, 77, of Ashland, died Sunday Morning, May 20, 2007 at the Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.
She was born Oct. 27, 1929, in Cass County, the daughter of Powell and Bessie "Betty" Flynn Staley.
She is survived by two sisters, Shirley Trenter of Virginia and Geraldine Ramsay of Springfield, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Boker was employed at NESCO in Jacksonville and a telephone operator in Ashland for many years. She also provided housekeeping services for several Ashland area residents. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ashland.

Homer P. Bostic, 84, of Virginia, IL died Friday, August 14, 2009 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, IL.
He was born July 16, 1925 in Macoupin County, IL; the son of Lee and Anna Eyer Bostic. He married Dorothy Bingham on July 20, 1946 and she survives.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Bostic (surviving wife, Bernice of Washington) and Melvin Lee Bostic and two sisters, Louise Jones and Twilla Bostic.
Mr. Bostic was a long time farmer in Sangamon and Greene Counties for 30 years. He was a member of the Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau. He moved to Virginia in 1978.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. A 10 year old boy of Mrs. Bottrell residing eight miles east of here complained of a pain in his finger Monday. It traveled to other parts of his body and he died Friday.

Myron Cecil Bourn, 83, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Danville V.A. Illiana Healthcare System.
He was born April 23, 1924, in Virginia, IL, the son of Walter and Cecilia Lane Bourn.
He is survived by one sister, Juanita Lambert of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Delbert and Byron Bourn; and two sisters, Virginia Whitehead Saunderland and Marie McNear.
He attended Hardin Brown Business College and was employed by the Illinois School for the Deaf in the dietary department. Mr. Bourn was a veteran of the U.S. Marines.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Private burial will be held at Diamond Grove Cemetery in Jacksonville. Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). BOWERS, Jeremiah - Illinoian Star Beardstown, June 25, 1895
Jeremiah Bowers died at his residence Sangamon Bottoms, Hickory neighborhood, June17th at age 70. He came to this state at the age of two years. In 1851 he married Judith Richardson, who died a few years later. In 1856 he married Jane Scott. He is survived by her and a daughter, also a son by his first wife and sisters, Amanda Wilson and Mrs. James Dick.

Mr. and Mrs. P. Bowyer lost and infant (James Leo) on Friday, age 17 months. The remains were taken to Arenzville where the family formerly lived.
