Robert Thomas Craddock, 1934-2007, Ashland
   Robert Thomas Craddock, 72, of Ashland, died Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield.
   He was born June 7, 1934, in Murrayville, the son of Thomas and Dorothy Bell Craddock.
   He is survived by one son, Michael (wife, Debbi) of Fairbury; three daughters, Brenda (husband, Dennis) Heavner of Pittsfield, Patricia (husband, John) Kincaid of Pontiac, and Cynthia (husband, Tom) Cotton of Normal; nine grandchildren; one brother, Jim of Franklin; seven sisters, Martha McMillan of DeKalb, Betty Conner of Ashland, Catherine Gotschall of Franklin, Mary Ray of Springfield, and Jean Monroe, Linda Hayes and June Gowin, all of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Floreca Stewart and Dorothy Osborne.
   Mr. Craddock served in the U.S. Army for six years. He was in the restaurant business until his retirement. He lived in Ashland with his sister, Betty, for the past three years. He was an avid Cardinal fan and loved his dogs.
   Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Mackey Daws Funeral Home in Murrayville, where the family will gather at 9:30 a.m. Graveside services will be held at a later date. Margaret Crawford of city dies Saturday.
   Margaret E Crawford, 77 of 132 Finley St., a former resident of the Arenzville-Virginia area, died Saturday evening, July 13, 1991 at Passavant Area Hospital.
   She was born July 8, 1914, in Cass County, the daughter of Phillip and Bertha Brockhouse Stock.
   She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Billie (Peg) Fernandes of Jacksonville and Mrs. Herb (Linda) Snow of Virginia; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Warren Stock, Robert Stock and Charles Stock, all of Arenzville and Dean Stock of Concord; a sister, Ruth Stock of Arenzville; several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Paul Stock.
   Mrs. Crawford was a member of the Arenzville United Methodist Church. She retired in 1982 from the Illinois School for the Deaf, after serving 16 years as a dorm parent.
   Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Gillham-Buchanan Funeral Home with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Memorial gifts may be made to Chaddock School in Quincy or the Arenzville United Methodist Church Organ Fund.
Crawford Services: Funeral Services for Margaret Crawford were held Tuesday July 15, 1991 at the Gillham-Buchanan Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Einhouse officiating. Organist, William Huffman played, "The Lord Is My Shepherd." The pallbearers were Rodney Stock, Doug Stock, Bill Stock, Richard Stock, Stanley Stock and Mike Stock. Burial was in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.

   LeRoy Thomas "Tom" Cray, 54, of Beardstown, IL and formerly of Liberty, IL died Saturday, December 13, 2008 at his residence.
   He was born May 11, 1954 in Quincy, IL; the son of LeRoy W. “Rabbit” and Lila Gille Cray.
   He is survived by his companion of 15 years, Laura Braswell of Beardstown: a son, James Braswell of Beardstown; two step sons, Jason Totsch (wife, Sherry) of Warsaw and Jamie Totsch (fiancé, Wendy) of Clayton; two grandchildren, Hannah Totsch and Lauren Braswell; two sisters, Linda Ellis (husband, Jim) of Troy, TX and Dianna Havermale (husband, John Sr.) Of Hunnewell, MO; two nieces, Jennifer Hobbs of Hunnewell, MO and Julie Havermale of Monroe City, MO; five nephews, James Ellis of Auburn, AL, Andrew Ellis of Hewitt, TX, Scott Cray of Dallas, TX, John Havermale Jr. Of Monroe City, MO, and Joshua Havermale of Hunnewell, MO; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his extended family, the Guijosa children and their families.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry J. Cray; and a sister, Mary Lee Cray.
   A graduate of Liberty, IL High School, Mr. Cray was a truck driver for over 20 years before joining the construction industry as an operating engineer. He was currently a side boom operator for the Rockies Express pipeline. He enjoyed woodworking, doing mechanical repairs, and raising Paint horses.
   The family will meet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home (West State Chapel) in Jacksonville. A brief closing service will be held at 8:00 PM following the visitation. Private committal services will be held at a later date. Sylvan 'Bud' Crews, 1927-2007, Beardstown
   Sylvan "Bud" Crews, 79, of Beardstown, died Monday evening, April 23, 2007, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
   He was born Nov. 7, 1927, in Beardstown, the son of Joseph LeRoy and Minnie Irene Reining Crews. He married Dolores McClanhan in October 1950, and she preceded him in death April 14, 2001.
   He is survived by one son, Doug, (wife, Linda) of Beardstown; five grandchildren, Jason (companion, Joyce Combs) Crews, Clayton Crews, Corinna "Nikki" Crews, Thomas Baldwin and Kattie Baldwin; one great-granddaughter; one brother Francis (wife, Sharon) of Macon, Mo.; one sister, Beatrice Plunkett of Oakford; a special friend, Jean Carmean of Beardstown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Mark; one granddaughter, Ashley Baldwin; one brother, Wesley; and three sisters, Evelyn Avery, Mary Crews and Mabel Martin.
   Mr. Crews attended Black Oak School and was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown where he served as a Deacon. He worked for the Beardstown School District for 27 years as a bus driver before retiring in 1992. He also farmed in the Black Oak area in rural Beardstown. He enjoyed having coffee with his buddies, reading, and listening to music.
   Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown, with burial in Beardstown City Cemetery.    Charles William Crum, 84, of rural Virginia, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 21, 2006, at his residence.
   He was born April 16, 1921, in Virginia, the son of Reuel George and Lula Beatrice Woods Crum. He married Mary Imogene Lifflick on Aug. 24, 1951, in Tuscola, and she survives.
   He is also survived by two sons, Reuel L. (wife, Brenda) of rural Virginia and James A. of rural Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Amber R. (husband, Patrick) Henson of Virginia and Brandon G. Crum of Virginia; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Woods M. (wife, Mary E.) of rural Virginia; one niece; and one nephew.
   Mr. Crum graduated from Virginia High School in 1939 and began farming with is brother due to the death of their father in 1936. He joined the U.S. Navy following the attack on Pearl Harbor, serving from April of 1942 until January of 1946. Trained in diesel engines, he was assigned to a Landing Craft Infantry (LCI) squadron serving aboard LCI 336, an amphibious assault vehicle which participated in several invasions. He was later transferred to Landing Ship Tank (LST) 734 serving as chief of the engine room for the duration of his service.
   Mr. Crum retired from the livestock and grain farm in 1999 after more than 50 years in agriculture. He was named a State FFA Star Farmer in 1941 by the Virginia High School Chapter. He was a long-time member of Farm Bureau serving as President of Cass County Farm Bureau during their merger with Morgan County. He also served on the boards of the Cass County Farm Service Administration and the Cass County Soil and Water Conservation District.
   Mr. Crum was a member of the Virginia United Methodist Church where he served on many committees. He was active in the Arenzville American Legion Post 604, formerly serving as its chaplain. He also served on the Cass County Selective Service Commission. An avid student of history, he enjoyed genealogical research and maintained memberships with the Cass County Historical Society and the Springfield Civil War Roundtable. Concerned about the renovation and maintenance of Crum Cemetery, he actively served on the cemetery's board for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed stamp collecting as a hobby. He was well respected for his quiet and dignified manner and his devotion to his family and his career.
   Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Virginia United Methodist Church in Virginia, with burial and military honors at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia.    Mary B. Crum, 89, of rural Virginia, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.
    She was born Feb. 21, 1919, in Cass County, the daughter of William C. and Eula B. Wise Blohm. She married Woods M. Crum on Nov. 1, 1959, in Beardstown, and he survives.
   She is also survived by one sister, Beatrice A. Coats of Beardstown; one brother, John W. (wife, Sandy) Blohm of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Kramer.
   A 1938 graduate of Beardstown High School, Mrs. Crum worked as a bookkeeper for CIPS before joining the City Clerk’s office at Beardstown City Hall. She later was employed at Modern Chevrolet in Beardstown for 25 years prior to her retirement. A longtime member of the Virginia United Methodist Church, she served on the building committee for the new church and was a member of United Methodist Women. She was a member of Cass County Home Extension, the Household Science Club, and the former Beardstown Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member and past Worthy Matron of the Adah Robinson Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.
   Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Virginia United Methodist Church, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Mary Imogene Crum 1920-2009, Virginia
   Mary Imogene Crum, 88, of rural Virginia, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
   She was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Marshall, the daughter of Aaron and Imogene Berry Liffick. She married Charles William Crum on Aug. 24, 1951, in Tuscola, and he preceded her in death Feb. 21, 2006.
   She is survived by two sons, Reuel L. Crum (wife, Brenda) of Virginia and James A. Crum of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Amber R. Henson (husband, Patrick) of Virginia and Brandon G. Crum of Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Tanner and Jersey; a brother Dee Liffick (wife, Norma) of Oakland; a niece; and a nephew.
   Mrs. Crum was a graduate of Casey High School and earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Eastern Illinois University and a masters degree in zoology at the University of Illinois. She was a dedicated teacher in many schools across Illinois for 25 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of Arenzville American Legion Auxiliary, Household Science Club, Retired Teachers Association, Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau Women's Committee and Cass County Home Extension where she volunteered many hours at the Cass County Fair.
   Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Virginia United Methodist Church in Virginia, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia.    Arthur "Art" Zorn Crumrin, 93, of Chandlerville and formerly of rural Beardstown, died Tuesday evening, Oct. 29, 2002, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
   He was born Nov. 26, 1908, in West Union, the son of Harry Otto and Emma Elnora Edna Zorn Crumrin. He married Edna Wilhelmina Johanna Carls Sept. 5, 1942, and she preceded him in death.
   He is survived by one great-nephew, Matthew Vaughn of Chandlerville, three great-great nieces, Kelsey Vaughn, Kyla Vaughn and Kallie Vaughn, all of Chandlerville. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Harriet Emely Crumrin and Louise Vaughn; and one nephew, Roland (surviving wife, Bobette Vaughn of Chandlerville).
   Mr. Crumrin was a graduate of Chandlerville High School and attended Brown's Business School of Springfield. He worked as an accountant for 40 years at Cass County Service Co. He had been an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Beardstown. He was a former member of Cass County Historical and Genealogical Society, Cass County Farm Bureau, and National Rifle Association.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Goodwin Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Lutheran Cemetery in Beardstown. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. John 's Lutheran Church.

   Donna L. Cummins, 57 years, of Virginia, IL died Thursday afternoon, January 3, 2008 at her residence.
   She was born November 16, 1950 in Beardstown, IL; the daughter of John and Mary Ann Greenleaf Frank.
   She is survived by one son, Steve Cummins of Rapid City, SD; two brothers, Mike (wife, Cheryl) Frank of Beardstown and Stanley Frank of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Zacharia Cummins, Brianna Cummins and Alyssa Cummins; several nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Sherry Murphy.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Chester "Chet" Fair; and her companion, Heston Murphy
   Mrs. Cummins was employed at Hertzberg-New Method Book Bindery in Jacksonville. She formerly worked for the Illinois Secretary of State in Springfield, the former Oscar Meyer plant in Beardstown, and provided maintenance work for McDonalds Restaurant in Beardstown. She was an avid horse lover and a devoted fan of country and western music. Her favorite recording artist was Hank Williams Jr. She always enjoyed a good practical joke especially on April Fool's Day. She was of the protestant faith.

   Chris Anthony Curry, 31, of Mt. Sterling and formerly of Rushville, died Friday, April 25, 2008 in Rushville.
   He was born August 17, 1976 in Beardstown, the son of Roger L. and Rita M. Malcomson Curry.
   Chris had worked for Mt. Sterling IGA and most recently worked for Dot Foods in Mt. Sterling.
   He attended Rushville High School and later received a GED.
   Chris always enjoyed playing video games, riding his dirt bike and most of all working out and lifting weights at the YMCA. He also loved to text and talk on the phone.
   Survivors include his mother Rita M. Phelps of Weslaco, Texas; his father, Roger Curry of Rushville; one son, Cody Curry of Arenzville; one brother Shane (wife, Amanda) Baer of Beardstown; two sisters, Lisa Taylor an Gina (husband, Doug) Trone all of Rushville; his paternal grandmother, Teresa Curry of Rushville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
   He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Kenneth "Greek" and Opal Malcomson and his paternal grandfather, Robert Curry.
   Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 30 at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Pastor Fred Fritz officiating.
   Burial will be in the Mt. Sterling Cemetery.
   Family will meet with friends Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
   Memorials are suggested to the Cody Curry Trust Fund.

Virginia Lee 'Jennie' Curry, 1947-2006, Beardstown
   Virginia Lee "Jennie" Curry, 59, of Beardstown, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
   She was born May 28, 1947, in Beardstown, the daughter of George E. and Rosie L. Wessel. She married Janis "Speed" Standley in 1965, and later married Ron L. Curry.
   She is survived by one son, George Douglas "Doug" (wife, Chryl) of Cayce, S.C.; two daughters, Melissa Dawn (husband, Todd) Wink and Tara Marie (husband, Joe) Hamlin, both of Beardstown; eight grandchildren, Barid and Arwin Curry, Tylor Patterson, Landon and Micah Wink, Madisyn Days, and Syndee and Gracyn Hamlin; two sisters, Vicki Jo (husband, Bill) Wafford of Pana and Georgia Marie Wessel (husband, Gary Kolb) of Carbondale; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
   Mrs. Curry attended Beardstown schools and graduated from Pana High School in 1965. She was employed by Cass County Human Resource Center for nine years as a substance abuse counselor. She liked to read and she always sid that her grandkids were her hobby.
   Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. The family will meet friends from 1:30 p.m. until time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.
