Jimmy Leo Easley, 62, of Beardstown and formerly of Meredosia, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007 at his residence.
   He was born July 18, 1945 in Jacksonville the son of Leonard Wesley "Catfish" and Minnie Gertrude Lerch Easley and she survives in Jacksonville.
   He is also survived by two sons, James Snyder of Bolingbrook and Leonard Easley of Beardstown; one daughter, Jennifer (husband, Jordan) Post of Ashland; and three grandchildren, Jay Hunter Post, Joel Wesley Post and Kaden Wesley Easley. He was preceded in death by one sister, Edith E. Morris(surviving husband, William “Bill” of Chambersburg.)
   Mr. Easley worked for Owens Glass Factory in Streator, delivered papers in the Meredosia area for many years and worked in lawn care. He was a member of the Chambersburg Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing and loved being a grandfather.

Raymond Edge, 1911-2007, Chandlerville
   Raymond Edge, 95, of Chandlerville, died Monday afternoon, Oct. 1, 2007 at the Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.
   He was born Dec. 28, 1911, in Waverly, the son of Rev. John W. and Ida Baldwin Edge. He married Rosa S. Hendricker on Jan. 31, 1933, in rural Arenzville, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 2003.
   He is survived by three sons, Milton (wife, Hazel) and William "Bill," both of Chandlerville and Dale Edge (wife, Donna) of Ashland; one daughter, Shirley (husband, Dean) Duckwiler of Chandlerville; 10 grandchildren, Yvonne Bernard, Laurel Ann McLagan, Stanley Edge, Melinda Taylor, Rachel Christianson, Kevin Duckwiler, Daphne Dodd, Demetria Westbrook, Dawn Stremsterfer and Daniel Edge; 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; one sister, Edna Beasley of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death one son, Jerry, in infancy; one granddaughter, Darlene Duckwiler; two brothers, Richard and Ralph; and two sisters, Dorothy Swearingen and Edith Edge.
   Mr. Edge had farmed all his life. He was a 4-H leader, member of the Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau, served on the Cass County Fair Board, and attended the Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
   Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, east of Chandlerville, with burial at Chandlerville Cemetery. The remains will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. The family will meet friends from 5-7:30 p.m. today at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia. Memorials are suggested to Mt. Rosa S. Edge, 1911-2003, Chandlerville
   Rosa S. Edge, 92, of rural Chandlerville, died Sunday afternoon, Feb. 23, 2003, at her residence.
   She was born Jan. 2, 1911, in rural Arenzville, the daughter of Henry and Mathilda Krohe Hendricker. She married Raymond Edge on Jan. 31, 1933, at her parent's home in rural Arenzville, and he survives.
   She is also survived by three sons, Milton (wife, Hazel) of Chandlerville, William "Bill" of rural Chandlerville, and Dale (wife, Donna) of rural Ashland; one daughter, Shirley (husband, Dean) Duckwiler of Pleasant Plains; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Irvin (wife, Aline) Hendricker of rural Beardstown; and Harold (wife, Margaret) Hendricker of rural Arenzville; three sisters, Ada (husband, F.D.) Bennett of Griggsville, Bertha (husband, Ralph) Wankel of Beardstown, and Vera (husband, Cal) Johnson of Salinsas, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Jerry in infancy; one granddaughter; two brothers, Ralph and Homer Hendricker; and two sisters, Myrtle Carls and Phyllis Crocker.
   Mrs. Edge was a faithful member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church, where he played the organ until recently. She was a former 4-H leader and an active member of the Cass County Home Extension. She was an avid gardener who raised a wide variety of flowers and vegetables. She was an accomplished seamstress who completed more than 55 quilts. She enjoyed spending time at family gatherings.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Olive Baptist Church, east of Chandlerville, with burial at Chandlerville Cemetery. William H. 'Bill' Edge, 1946-2008, Chandlerville
   William H. "Bill" Edge, 62, of Chandlerville, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
   He was born March 25, 1946 in Jacksonville, the son of Raymond and Rosa Hendricker Edge.
   He is survived by two brothers, Milton (wife, Hazel) of Chandlerville and Dale (wife, Donna) of Ashland; one sister, Shirley (husband, Dean) Duckwiler of Chandlerville; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great niece. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gerald, in infancy.
   Mr. Edge was involved in 4-H as a young man and attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, reading the newspaper, studying maps, St. Louis Cardinal baseball, and local sporting events.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, east of Chandlerville, with burial in Chandlerville Cemetery. Cynthia E. Edwards, 1915-2007, Virginia
   Cynthia Ellen Edwards, 91, of Virginia, died Monday evening, January 8, 2007 at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.
   She was born Oct. 24, 1915 in Ashland, the daughter of Philemon and Lucretia Smith Bailey. She married Lee R. Edwards Jr. March 17, 1939 in Ashland, and he preceded in death on Jan. 10, 2005.
   She is survived by one daughter, Ann (husband, Mikle Sr.) Siere of Pleasant Plains; two grandchildren, Mitchell Lee (wife, Stephani) Cave of Virginia and Troy Alan (wife, Lisa) Cave of Decatur; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Phil (wife, Janet) Bailey of Green Valley, Ariz. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David B. Cave, and two brothers, Mitchell and Robert Bailey.
   Mrs. Edwards was a graduate of Ashland High School. She was a homemaker and assisted with the family farming operation. She was a member of Virginia United Methodist Church.

Florence E. Edwards, 1918-2007, Chandlerville
   Florence E. Edwards, 88, of Chandlerville, died Sunday morning, June 17, 2007 at the Mason City Area Nursing Home in Mason City.
   She was born July 25, 1918 in Chandlerville, the daughter of Leslie and Verna Arthalony Collins. She married Lawrence L. Edwards on Aug. 2, 1940, in Klamath Falls, Ore., and he preceded in death Aug. 20, 2000.
   She is survived by a son, Doug (wife, Esther) of Havana; three grandsons, Matthew (wife, Melanie) Edwards of Ankeny, Iowa, Patrick (wife, Christine) Edwards of Mattoon and Timothy Edwards of Springfield; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Eula Mae (husband, Bert) Wiseman of Maroa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Emerson Collins, and one sister, Thelma Baldwin.
   Mrs. Edwards was employed for over 30 years at Kordite and later Mobil Chemical in Jacksonville. She was a member of the Chandlerville Christian Church and the church’s Dorcas Circle. She enjoyed creating quilts and afghans and spoiling her grandchildren. A talented cook, she was well known for her fried chicken and raspberry jelly.
   Funeral services will be held noon Wednesday at Chandlerville Christian Church in Chandlerville, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of services Wednesday at the church.    John Eichenaurer was murdered on the farm of D.J. Cole by John and Robert Taylor. He leaves a wife and two children. His brother Henry was stabbed but expects to live.

Hester C. Eilers, 1915-2008, Chandlerville
   Hester C. Eilers, 92 years, of Chandlerville, died Wednesday Jan. 16, 2008 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
   She was born July 20, 1915, east of Chandlerville, in Cass County, the daughter of Edward and Mattie Brunk Chilton. She married Glenn Irving Eilers on March 25, 1940 in Palmyra, Mo., and he preceded in death on September 10, 1978.
   She is survived by two sons, Eugene Glenn "Huey" Eilers (wife, Mary) and Harold Lee "Barney" Eilers (companion, Shirley Lawson), both of Chandlerville; one daughter, Mary Ann Eddings of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Lori Eilers of Jacksonville, Brian Eilers (wife, Beth), Andy Eilers (wife, Donna) and Brad Eilers (wife, Christy), all of Chandlerville, and David Eddings (wife, Tammy) of Springfield; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sharon Louise Eilers; one grandson, Michael Eilers; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Glenn Chilton; and one sister, Louise Murphy.
   Mrs. Eilers was a homemaker and a long time member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in rural Chandlerville. She was a 50-year member and past matron of the Chandlerville Order of Eastern Star. She fondly recalled the special celebrations to commemorate her 50th year of Eastern Star membership and her 90th birthday.
   Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia, with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg.    Relatives and friends here have been advised of the death of Mrs. Mayme Wilson Elliott, which occurred in Denver Colo, Saturday June 22nd.
   Mrs. Elliott was the oldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David D. Wilson of this city and her father was a Virginia merchant for many years.
   She spent most of her life in this city and was married here to William Elliott in 1917. After his death she moved to Denver where she has since resided. All of her active life she was a faithful worker in the Christian church.
   Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Ella Wilson Warren and Mrs. Mabel W. Haire, both of Denver and a nephew, R.G. Wilson of Glide, Oregon.
   Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 26th, at Denver, with Dr. O’Neal of the Central Christian church in charge. Interment was at Crown Hill Cemetery, Denver.

William Elliott died February 6, 1917
   After a lingering illness of several months' duration, Wm. Elliott, prominent land owner and banker, died at his home in this city.
   William Elliott was born in County Antrim, Ireland, June 26, 1837, a son in a family of four boys and three girls, of John and Nancy Elliott and died Tuesday, February 6, 1917, aged 79 years 7 months and 8 days. In 1842 he came to America with his parents, they settling in Cass County. Successfully following the pursuit of farming Mr. Elliott retired about 35 years ago and moved to this city, which place he has since made his home. He was thrice married, Miss Nellie Brady being his first wife and Miss Bettie Ragan his second wife and at present he is survived by his third wife. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Mullen of Cass County, Missouri and Mrs. Nancy Thompson of Cass County, Missouri, and one brother David Elliott of this city.
Interment was in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.

   Gary A. Ellsworth, 70, of St. David, died at 5:15 am Saturday July 12, 2008 at Sunset Manor in Canton.
   Born January 4, 1938 in Rushville to Harold “Itsie” and Ruby (Hughes) Ellsworth. He married Carol Ann Stephen October 28, 1961 in Virginia, IL. She Survives.
   Surviving are one daughter, Lorraine (John) Leavell of Surrey B.C., Canada; three sons, Itsie (Lori) of Perryville, MO, Mike (Susan) of Havana, Gary II (Rebecca) of St. David; nine grandchildren, Shae and Nick Whitelow of GlenCarbon, IL, Lacie, Katilyn, and Isaac Ellsworth of Perryville, MO, McKayla and Samantha Ellsworth of Havana, Mercedes and Lexus Ellsworth of St. David. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Bill Ellsworth.
   Gary was a journeyman Glazier who completed his apprenticeship at Capitol Glass in Springfield, IL. He moved to Canton in 1963 and started Specialty Glass Service. Gary owned and operated Whalen Glass Works from 1964 until 2006, which was originally established by Harry Whalen in 1927. He also owned and operated Banner Bait & Archery in the 1970’s and 1980's. Gary loved to hunt, fish, and tell stories
   Funeral services will be held at 10 am Tuesday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Rev. Michael Brooks will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
   Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

ELMORE, Julius - Central Illinoian Beardstown, May 6, 1869
   Died at his residence in Ashland on April 27th, Julius Elmore. He was 90 years,8 months and 2 days old. He was buried with Masonic rites, he was the oldest Mason in Illinois having been one for 65 years. He was also the oldest resident of Cass County. He was born in Robinson County, TN. His wife is 86 years old and they were married over 60 years.

   Died the 14th in Ashland, Julius Elmore, age 51. He was a native of Robinson County, Tenn., coming her thirty one years ago. He had chest pains Friday and died Sunday.

ENGLISH, Abigail - Virginia Enquirer, Sept. 8, 1877
   Died in Philadelphia, IL, Aug. 31st, Mrs. Abigail English, age 68. The remains were taken to Walnut Ridge cemetery in Virginia, this past Sun. with services by Rev. H. Wilson. She was born Dec. 21, 1809 in Spencer (Tioga Co.) NY. She was married to George Snell, Jan. 17, 1834, he died Nov. 8, 1850. Their children are Lewellyn Snell and Mrs. W.M. Summers. She then married Ezra English, May 8, 1856, after which they came to IL. He survives.

EPLER, John - The Cass County Historian, March 2000, taken from Virginia Enquirer, June 2, 1876
   Died May 25, John Epler, age 81 years. He was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania on April 15, 1795, moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 1798, to Charleston, Indiana in 1801 and Illinois in 1831. His early days were spent trading and exploring by flat boat. He was the father of 12 children, 6 survive along with his wife, age 66. His death was due to lung hemorage.

Dolores Mae Erwin - 1930-2003 - Beardstown
   Dolores Mae Erwin, 72, of Beardstown, died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 29, 2003 at the home of Paul and Gayle Hilliard of Beardstown, where she resided.
She was born Feb. 12, 1930, in Chicago Heights, the daughter of Frank and Rose Bertrand Erwin.
   She is survived by three daughters, Shelly Lotshaw of Watseka, Lena Jantzen of Sparwood, British Columbia, Canada and Cery Nolling of Los Angeles; two sons, Lloyd Nolling of Bakersfield, Calif., and Mike (wife, Christina) Williams of Germany; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters.
   Ms. Erwin loved to travel and attend the local churches in the area of which she lived. She was active with Harbor House. She enjoyed her life, gardening and people. One of her favorite pasttimes was crocheting items for different people in her life.

Florence A. Ethridge 1915-2003 Beardstown
   Florence A. Ethridge, 87, of Beardstown, died Tuesday evening, May 13, 2003, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
   She was born Dec. 12, 1915, in Beardstown, the daughter of Harvey and Reba Velma Herren Anderson. She married Charles W. Ethridge April 15, 1939, in Palmyra, Mo. and he preceded her in death Jan. 15, 1972.
   She is survived by two daughters, Velma (husband, Lawrence) Bauser of Beardstown and Charlene (husband, Donald) Lerch of Rushville; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rosenid Holthoff of Beardstown and Norma Slate of Kettle Falls, Wash. She was preceded in death by one sister, Verna May Anderson; one brother, Myron Harvey Anderson; and two great-grandchildren.
   Mrs. Ethridge attended Black Oak School in rural Beardstown and was employed with a shipyard in Vancouver, Wash., Wells-Lamont Glove Factory in Beardstown and the Beardstown Bowl. She enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, and her cockatoo "Pretty Bird." She will be remembered as a truly loving mother and grandmother.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Family will meet friends from 9:30-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

EVERS, Harmon F. - June 23, 1921 - August 5, 2008
Harmon F. Evers, 87, of Virginia, IL died Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown, IL.
   He was born June 23, 1921 in Menard County, IL; the son of Carl Frederick and Anna Janssen Evers. He married Rozella Lee Stiltz on October 26, 1946 in Petersburg, IL and she preceded in death on July 11, 2007.
   He is survived by two sons, Larry Evers (wife, Nancy) of Dwight and Carl Evers (wife, Janet) of Virginia; seven grandchildren, Colleen Morphy (husband, John) of Normal, Todd Evers (wife, Beth) of Moody, TX, Chad Evers (wife, Ginger) of Naperville, Jonathan Evers (wife, Sarah) of Colfax, Christina Franklin (husband, Erich) of Sidney, Cari Evers of Normal, and Jeffrey Evers of Normal; five great grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Marie Antonini (husband, Herm) of Springfield.
   Mr. Evers was a graduate of Harris High School in Petersburg and began farming as a teenager to assist his father. He farmed for 27 years near Atterberry in Menard County and later relocated to rural Virginia where he farmed and additional 23 years in Cass County. He was a member of Virginia United Methodist Church and he formerly served as a 4-H leader in Menard County and as a board member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Petersburg. He enjoyed carpentry as a hobby.
   Graveside funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Saturday, August 8, 2008 at Ashland Cemetery in Ashland. There will be no visitation.    Rozella Lee Evers, 83, of Virginia, died Wednesday afternoon, July 11, 2007 at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
   She was born June 7, 1924 near Hettick, the daughter of Lloyd and Christina Klokkenga Stiltz. She married Harmon F. Evers on Oct. 26, 1946, in Petersburg, and he survives.
   She is also survived by two sons, Carl (wife, Janet) of Virginia and Larry (wife, Nancy) of Dwight; seven grandchildren, Colleen (husband, John) Morphey and Jeffery Evers, both of Normal, Todd (wife, Beth) Evers of Fort Worth, Texas, Chad (wife, Ginger) Evers of Naperville, Jonathan (wife, Sarah) Evers of Colfax, Christina (husband, Erich) Franklin of Sidney and Cari Evers of Dwight; four great grandchildren; and one brother, Charles (wife, Glenna) Stiltz of Springfield.
   Mrs. Evers attended Coddington School and graduated from Tallula High School. Her career began with Menard County Farm Bureau and was later employed by Faultless Milling and Sangamo Electric, both of Springfield. Following her marriage, she farmed with her husband for 27 years near Atterberry. She was active in Menard County Home Extension and Atterberry Community Club. They later moved to a farm in rural Virginia and remained active until retirement in 1986. In the Virginia area, she was a member of Virginia United Methodist Church where she served as a communion steward for many years. She was also formerly active in Walnut Grove Household Science Club.
   A celebration of life service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Virginia United Methodist Church in Virginia, with burial at Ashland Cemetery in Ashland. A visitation will be held at the church from 1 p.m. Sunday until the time of services. Memorials are suggested to the Virginia United Methodist Church or Alzheimer’s Association. EYRES, Thomas - paper unknown
   Thomas Eyres was born Oct. 22, 1806 in Manchester, England. He died Mar. 25,1857, and is buried in Beardstown City Cemetery, with other family members. He married Matilda Wright. Their children included James and Mary (both died young), Mrs. Sarah Collins, Mrs. Margaret Johnson, Benjamin, Thomas and Richard. He owned a thriving wagon, iron and blacksmith shop in Beardstown that employed fourteen workers. He turned out wagons for California emigrants and sold Diamond Brand ploughs.

   Chandlerville, IL - Elmer James Eyrse, Sr., 79, of Chandlerville passed away at Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006 at his residence. He was born May 17, 1927 in San Jose, IL the son of Elmer E. and Pearl McGrady Eyrse. He married Bonnie Higdon June 15, 1953 in Delavan, IL and she preceded him in death April 26, 2005.
   Mr. Eyrse was a truck driver his entire life, he served in the US Army in the South Pacific during WWII, was a member of the Chandlerville American Legion, Midwest Truckers Union and the Sheriff?s Association.
   He is survived by three sons, Elmer "Jim" (Charleen) Eyrse, Jr. Of Channahon, IL; David (companion: Cathy Curl) Eyrse of Chapin, IL; Kevin (Shannon) Eyrse of Springfield, IL; three daughters, Pam (Sam) Fisher of Mechanicsville, VA; Deb (companion Jim Henry) Eyrse of Chandlerville; and Lisa (companion: Brad Bess) Eyrse of Nebo, IL. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, one brother, James Eyrse of Morton, IL; and two sisters, Bertha McLaughlin of East Peoria and Dorothy (Donald) Neville of Morton, IL. Mr. Eyrse was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and one grandson.
   Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thurs. Nov. 30, 2006 at the Chandlerville Christian Church conducted by Rev. Jim Waterman. Burial will be in the Chandlerville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 pm Wed. at the Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chandlerville American Legion, the American Heart Association, Memorial Medical Center or the charity of the donor?s choice.    Timothy Eyrich 1958-2009
   Timothy R “Timbo” and “Big Man” Eyrich, 51, of East Peoria passed away at 12:08 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 at his home. He was born April 19, 1958 in Virginia, Illinois to Dale Perry and Anita (Eyrich) Darling.
   He married Tomi Thario. Surviving are his mother, Anita Darling of Oklahoma City, OK; his ex-wife, Tomi Eyrich of Morton; one daughter, Brandy Raeuber of East Peoria; one son Timothy Eyrich of Morton; his fiancée, Paula Smith of East Peoria; two stepchildren, Amber and Nicholas Smith, both of East Peoria; two sisters Tammy (Tony) Hibser of Bartonville and Benita (Kim) Edwards of Tuttle, OK; five grandchildren, Layne, Jaide and Sage Raeuber, Kiana Hagan and Tyler Oliver; and two nieces and one nephew.
   He was preceded in death by his father, stepfather and grandparents.
   Tim first worked more than 17 years at Peoria Sanitary District. For the past 10 years he had been working for Dixon Fisheries, last working on Friday, Oct 2, 2009.
   A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct 6 at Remmert Funeral Home. There will be no services. Cremation will be accorded.
   Memorials may be made to ABATE.
