Melissa Nellene Richard, 1971-2007, Chandlerville
   Melissa Nellene Richard Kaler, 36, of Chandlerville, died early Friday morning at her residence. She was born May 14, 1971, in Springfield, the daughter of Russell and Cheryl Simmons Richard. She married Matthew Lee Kaler on Oct. 14, 2006, in Chandlerville, and he survives.
    She is also survived by her mother of Chandlerville; one daughter, Marissa Richard of Chandlerville; one sister, Sara Beth Richard of Chandlerville; one brother, Rusty Richard of Perry; five nephews and nieces and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
   Mrs. Kaler was a very compassionate person, loving her job as a nurse. She received her nursing degree in 2006 from Capitol City Area School of Nursing in Springfield. She worked at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield and Menard Medical Center in Petersburg and several doctor’s offices in Jacksonville through Memorial Medical Center. She was a 1989 graduate of Chandlerville high school and was a member of the Chandlerville Christian Church.
   Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Chandlerville Christian Church, with burial at Chandlerville Cemetery. Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Melanoma Research Foundation or the American Cancer Society. Betty Jane Kaonohi, 1925-2004, Chandlerville
   Betty Jane Kaonohi, 78, of Oliver Springs, Tenn., died Saturday Feb. 28, 2004, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
   She was born Nov. 13, 1925, in Cass County, the daughter of Louis N. and Fern V. Dupes Cox. She married Orville Davidsmeier on March 23, 1944, and he preceded her in death in 1970. She later married David L. Kaonohi, chief petty officer, USN ret., on July 2, 1971, and he survives.
   She is also survived by one daughter, Jane (husband, Gilbert) Satuffer of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; one son, Michael W. (wife, Suzan) Davidsmeier of Powell, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Jarrod Davidsmeier stationed in Japan with the U.S. Navy, Cherie Davidsmeier of Powell, Tenn.; Jennifer (husband, Rick) Weilbruda of Fishers, Ind., Jonathan Stauffer of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Sarah (husband, Rick Hodsden) Stauffer of Knoxville and Amanda (husband, Chris) Flowers both of Knoxville, Tenn.; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Donald (wife, Sue) Cox of Virginia, Jack Cox of Glasford and Norman (wife, Joann) Cox of Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Myron Wayne Davidsmeier, in 1947; two brothers, Gene Cox and Gerald Cox; and one sister, Alberta Dearing.
   Mrs. Kaonohi was employed several years as a manager for the Spiegel catalogue store in Jacksonville.
   Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the Lintner-Buchanan Funeral Home in Chandlerville, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Sam. H. Kaufman, 1912-2003, Beardstown
   Sam H. Kaufman, 90, of Beardstown, died early Saturday morning, Jan. 18, 2003, at his residence.
   He was born Dec. 3, 1912, in Chicago, the son of Henry and Addie Heilman Kaufman. He married Elizabeth Lumley Jan. 1, 1943, at the First United Methodist Church in Beardstown, and she survives.
   He was preceded in death by one brother; and one sister.
   Mr. Kaufman attended school in Chicago, was a member of St. Alexius Catholic Church in Beardstown, was a former member of the International Club which met in the Drake Hotel in Chicago for several years. He was a produce broker in the Chicago area for over 40 years before retiring and moving to Beardstown with his wife Elizabeth. He loved to travel.
   Private rites for the cremated remains of Mr. Kaufman will be held Wednesday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at the Beardstown City Cemetery.

Jennifer Keaton, 1970-2007, Beardstown
   Jennifer Ellen Keaton, 37, of Beardstown, died early Wednesday morning, Aug. 1, 2007, at her parents' residence in Beardstown.
   She was born July 9, 1970, in Springfield, the daughter of Albert and Karen Burrus Ross. She married David A. Keaton on Aug. 7, 1999, in Beardstown, and he survives.
   She is also survived by her parents of Beardstown; two sons, Ross and Eddie, both at home; one brother, Joe (wife, Tischa) Ross of Cumming, Ga.; maternal grandmother, Jeane Burrus of Beardstown; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Kenny and Faye Ross; maternal grandfather, Edward "Bud" Burrus; and one niece.
   Mrs. Keaton was a 1988 graduate of Beardstown High School where she was an outstanding athlete. After high school, she attended dental hygiene school and later worked as a dental hygienist for Canter Family Dental in Beardstown. She was an active member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed participating in church care groups, sewing and quilting. Her greatest passion was caring for her children, putting others needs before her own and helping with Special Olympics. She was also a co-founder of B.U.D.S. (Bringing Up Down Syndrome).
   Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Beardstown, with private burial held at a later date. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Memorials are suggested to the family. Condolences may be sent to sagerfh@casscomm.com

Jeffery Wayne "Jeff" Kellerman, 1957-2007, Beardstown
   Jeffery Wayne "Jeff" Kellerman, 49, of Beardstown, died Friday evening, Oct. 5, 2007, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
   He was born Dec. 15, 1957, in East St. Louis, the son of Elias "Bud" and Jean Smith Kellerman.
   He is survived by his mother, Jean Mahnken of Beardstown; his stepmother, Georgia Kellerman of DuQuoin; his companion, Carolyn Greve of Beardstown; one son, Chad, (companion, Brittany Rogers) of Rushville; one daughter, Britney Kellerman of Beardstown; two grandchildren, Ella Grace Kellerman and Matthew Thurman; eight brothers and sisters, JoAnn Thomas of Springfield, David (companion, Diane Stephenson) of Arenzville, Annette (husband, Richard) Jokisch of Bluff Springs, Willis (companion, Mary Conners) of Beardstown, Tracey (husband, David) Parsons of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Kathy Meyer and Karl Kellerman, both of DuQuoin, and Carolyn (husband, Greg) Lamb of Effingham; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
   Mr. Kellerman was employed with Consolidated Grain and Barge in Naples for 20 years. He enjoyed his work in building grain elevators. He was a member of A.B.A.T.E. and especially enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He was a dedicated father and loved is children and grandchildren.
   Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family meeting friends from 4-7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Education Fund for the Grandchildren of Jeff Kellerman. Rosemary Kells, 1932-2007, Beardstown
   Rosemary Kells, 75, of Beardstown, died early Saturday morning, Feb. 24, 2007, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
   She was born Jan. 5, 1932, in Earlinger, Ky., the daughter of George Henry and Edna Peyton Bricking. She married Charles D. Kells on July 28, 1973, in Memphis, Tenn., and he survives.
   She is also survived by her biological children, Sharon (husband, John) Johnson of Louisiana, Shelly Pregler of Jerseyville, twins Debbie (husband, Jody) Chiatello of Jerseyville and Dianne (husband, Gene) Devening of Kane, Karen (husband, Kent) Gutmann of Ashland, Ben (wife, Mary) Hunter of Frederick, and Mark (wife, Sandy) Rutledge of Mount Sterling; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda (husband, William) LaMaster Beardstown; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Edward Bricking and Bobbie Griffin; three daughters, Sherry Hunter and twin infants Debbie and Donna Hunter; one grandson; one sister, Dorothy May; and two brothers, James and George Bricking.
   Many years ago Mrs. Kells worked in a retirement home in California before moving back to Illinois in 2005. She loved to dance and also loved to go shopping.
   Graveside funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Friday at Pittsfield West Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Pittsfield West Cemetery. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.airsman-hires.com.
