Jill Nordsiek Lackscheide, 1966-2007, Jacksonville
Jill Nordsiek Lackscheide, 41, of Jacksonville, and formerly of Beardstown, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 27, 2007, at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born March 12, 1966, in Peoria, the daughter of Dean and Shirley Pahlmann Nordsiek.
She is survived by companion Eric Norton of Jacksonville; her father and step-mother, Dean and Glenna Nordsiek of Beardstown; one daughter, Jennifer Taylor of Jacksonville; one son, PV2 Joseph (wife, Ashley) Taylor of Bluffs; two granddaughters, Sophie Renea and Heavenly Danielle Mae Taylor; two brothers, Mike (wife, Cristy) and Brett Nordsiek, both of Beardstown; one stepbrother, Greg (wife, Susie) Bottens of Beardstown; maternal grandmother, Leona Pahlmann of Jacksonville; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother.
Ms. Lackscheide was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Arenzville. She was employed by Community Care in Pittsfield. She enjoyed being with her granddaughters and making crafts.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Arenzville, with burial at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Beulah Rae Lael, 1923-2007, Beardstown
Beulah Rae Lael, 83, of Beardstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.
She was born Sept. 6, 1923, in Beardstown, the daughter of Raymond C. and Beulah "Mimi" Mathews Sullins. She married Bobby Lee Lael on Dec. 20, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo., and he preceded her in death April 21, 1985.
She is survived by one son, Tom (wife, Debbie) of Bartlesville, Okla.; one daughter, Sue (companion, Gene Mohlman) Palmer of Summum; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; one niece; one nephew; and three cousins. She was preceded in death by son, Chuck (surviving wife, Sally Lael of Beardstown); one sister, Gwen Boyd; and one brother, Tony Sullins.
Mrs. Lael attended Beardstown High School. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Beardstown where she served as past president of United Methodist Women, sang in the church choir, and was a Sunday school teacher. She was an active member of Central Illinois Walk to Emmaus where she was known as the "chicken lady" in which she delighted teams and candidates for many years with her chicken performances. She served in the Guthrie-Pierce VFW Post 1239 and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Beardstown and she was also a den mother for Cub Scouts. She retired after many years as a waitress and bartender at the Park Hotel and the Arrow Restaurant in Beardstown, and at AMVETS, the Zodiak, and the Dunlap in Jacksonville. She also worked in the mailroom for the Beardstown newspapers.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Beardstown, with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery. Homer V. Lael, 1922-2003, Beardstown
Homer V. Lael, 80, of Beardstown, died Saturday morning, May 17, 2003, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
He was born Aug. 19, 1922, in Scott County, the son of John and Donna Liel Lael. He married Fern Pate on June 29, 1940 in Palmyra, Mo., and she survives in Beardstown.
He is also survived by one daughter, Sharon, (husband, Bob Sr.) Rhoades of Rushville; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Rena Ehlert; and six brothers, Owen, Skiles, Carl, R.V., Ross and a twin brother at birth.
Mr. Lael was formerly employed with Critic Mill in Beardstown and retired in 1982, after many years of service with Oscar Mayer in Beardstown. He was a faithful member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown, where he served as usher and greeter for many years. Mr. Lael appreciated roses and liked spending time doing yard work and growing roses. As a man who enjoyed people and always wore a smile, he truly loved his family and treasured the time he spent camping with them.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Terry William Lael, 1955-2008, Beardstown
Terry William Lael, 52, of Beardstown, died Wednesday morning, June 18, 2008, at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown.
He was born Oct. 3, 1955, in Beardstown, the son of Ross William and Betty Mae Becker Lael.
Surviving are his son Shane (wife, Chelsea) Lael of Ashland; two grandchildren, Jozalyn and Challis; three sisters, Patsy (husband, Bill) Barnhart and Joann (husband, Bob) Gielau, both of Beardstown and Joyce Andris of Jacksonville, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Terry graduated from Beardstown High School and previously was employed with Beardstown School District. He enjoyed fishing and walking.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Memorials have been suggested to Culbertson Memorial Hospital or American Cancer Society. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family at sagerfh@casscomm.com.

Trennis B. Lancaster - 1908-1923
Trennis Bethel Lancaster, only son of Mrs. Oscaola Lancaster was born in Kansas City, MO., Dec. 11, 1908, and died at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Steele, 605 Humboldt Street, Beardstown, June 20, 1923, being at the time of his death 14years, 6 months and 9 days.
Trennis was always a boy of unusual habits and disposition. He seemed to be possessed of a deeply religious nature always taking great delight in the reading of the Bible and singing of religious hymns. His physical condition has never been just the best, and from January last he has been steadily losing strength and had been confined to his bed the last four weeks. During his entire illness he has been a patient sufferer and resigned to the will of God. He has constantly affirmed his faith in the Christ and his willingness in fact anxiety to go to his heavenly home. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones but what is loss to them is gain to him.
He is survived by his devoted mother and grandparents. Funeral services will be held at the home of the grandparents Friday, June 22nd at 10 a.m. Rev. G.L. Losh officiating. Interment in the city cemetery.

Viola Lancaster, 72, of Beardstown, died Tuesday afternoon, March 18, 2003, at her residence.
She was born April 7, 1930, in Beardstown, the daughter of Warren and Emma Thompson Lawson. She married Morris H. "Spanky" Lancaster Sr. Feb. 23, 1950, in Mount Sterling, and he survives.
She is also survived by four sons, Morris "Spanky" Jr. (companion, Gail), William (wife, Diane),Robert (wife, Sharon) Thorp-Lancaster, and Donald (wife, Amy), all of Beardstown; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Lawson in infancy and Donald "Sleepy" Lawson; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Lancaster attended school in Beardstown and First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown. She enjoyed playing bingo.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Arthur Dale 'Bumps' Landes, 1925-2007, Beardstown
Arthur Dale "Bumps" Landes, 81, of Beardstown, died Thursday morning, July 12, 2007, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.
He was born July 19, 1925, in Beardstown, the son of Kent and Lutie Mae Waugh Landes. He married Dorothy Demy. He later married Jacqueline Brand Hager in 1961, and she survives.
He is also survived by one daughter, Linda Kay (husband, Mark) Lynn of Jacksonville; two stepsons Bob (wife, Peg) Hager of Chatham and Dan (wife, Jeri) Hager of Ashmore; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harold "Bud," Raymond (wife, Carolyn) and Bob (wife, Mary), all of Beardstown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise and Violet; and four brothers, James, Jack, Vernon "Nuck," and Dwain "Dewey" (surviving wife, Wanda of Beardstown).
Mr. Landes served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving both in the European and Pacific Theaters as a Boatman's Mate. He retired from Oscar Mayer in Beardstown after several years of service. He was a member of Guthrie-Pierce VFW Post 1239 in Beardstown. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, boating, and camping.

Dwain W. 'Dewey' Landes, 1929-2007, Beardstown
Dwain W. "Dewey" Landes, 77, of Beardstown, died Sunday evening, June 10, 2007, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
He was born Sept. 28, 1929, in Beardstown, the son of Kent and Lutie Waugh Landes. He married Wanda Farwell Heffren on Sept. 28, 1972, in Beardstown, and she survives.
He is also survived by one stepdaughter, Brenda (husband, Gary) McDonald of Rushville; one stepson, Robert P. (wife, Leann) Heffren of Ripley; five stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and four brothers, Harold "Bud," Arthur "Bumps" (wife, Jackie), Raymond (wife, Carolyn) and Bob, (wife, Mary), all of Beardstown. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon, Jack and Jimmie; and two sisters, Violet McClure and Louise Hagerman.
Mr. Landes worked at the Schultz-Baujan Mill in Beardstown and later worked for Oscar Mayer in Beardstown until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown and loved to hunt, fish and collect arrowheads.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown, with burial at Browning Cemetery in Browning. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Friends may also call from 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church. Harold 'Bud' Landes, 1919-2008, Beardstown
Harold "Bud" Landes, 88, of Beardstown, died Monday evening, Feb. 11, 2008, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was born Dec. 27, 1919, in Beardstown, the son of Kent and Lutie Waugh Landes. He married Metta Reiley Ross in 1977, and she preceded him in death Aug. 14, 2004.
He is survived by one stepson, Bert Ross III of Rushville; one stepdaughter, Susan (husband, Ed) Jones of Rushville; one stepdaughter, Susan (husband, Ed) Jones of Rushville; four step-granddaughters, Lana Parrish, Metta Brown, James-ie Zuniga and Sallie Ross; eight step-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond (wife, Carolyn) and Robert (wife, Mary), both of Beardstown; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Vernon, Arthur "Bumps" (surviving wife, Jackie of Beardstown), Dewey (surviving wife, Wanda of Beardstown), Jack, and Jimmy; and two sisters, Louise Hageman and Violet McClure.
Mr. Landes was a commercial fisherman and owned and operated Landes Fish Market in Beardstown for many years.

Stacey L. Lane, 42, of Beardstown, and formerly of Browning, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 16, 2008, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
She was born Nov. 12, 1965, in Rushville, the daughter of Robert L. "Smokey" and Norma Skelton Lane.
She is survived by her parents of Browning; one daughter, Laura Jo Lane at home; one sister, Laura "Junior" (companion Raymond Lagemann) Lane of Milton; one brother, Fairl Robert "Dudley" (wife Jamie) of Frederick; her paternal grandmother, Margaret Lane of Beardstown; one aunt; three nieces; one nephew; and one great-niece. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather.
Ms. Lane graduated from Rushville High School in 1983 and attended Quincy Technical School. She worked as a waitress and restaurant cook.

Mary M. Langdon 1918-2002
Mary M. Langdon, 84, of Beardstown, died early Saturday morning, Nov. 23, 2002, at Evergreen Place in Beardstown.
She was born May 3, 1918, in Brown County. She married Clarence Langdon and he preceded her in death Jan. 28, 1959.
She is survived by seven sons, Wayne Deeter of Springfield, Jim Deeter of Norfolk, Va., Jerry Deeter of Augusta, Clarence Langdon, Raymond Langdon of Suffolk, Va., Kenny Langdon of Junction City, Kan., and George Langdon of Abilene, Kan.; three daughters Maxine Deeter of Augusta, Shirley Langdon of Jacksonville and Leta Langdon of Beardstown; 15 grandchildren; and her special "sister" Mary Jones of Mount Sterling. She was preceded in death by three sons; one daughter; and one sister.
Mrs. Langdon was of the Baptist faith. She loved playing bingo, listening to country western bands and talking to her friends. She was a lover of animals all of her life and was especially close to her "granddog," Buggy.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Mt. Sterling City Cemetery. Luvena Curry Lane 1923-2006 Chandlerville
Luvena Curry Lane 83, of Chandlerville, died Saturday evening, Aug. 26, 2006, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 19, 1923, in Bluff Springs, the daughter of Lawrence and Nellie Lee Watson Curry. She married Robert H. Lane on Aug. 11, 1941, in Bowling Green, Mo., and he survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Beverly J. Lane of Springfield and Deborah L. (companion, Dale Marlo) Lane Michaels of Mason City; two granddaughters, Rachel A. (husband, Mike) Tribbett of Springfield and Heather R. Michaels of Mason City; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. she was preceded in death by six sisters; and four brothers.
Mrs. Curry was a member of Chandlerville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 12 years. She also was Chapter Mother of the Future Homemakers of America. She was a homemaker and previously worked at NESCO in Jacksonville and the New Salem Lodge near Petersburg.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville, with burial at Chandlerville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Morris L. "Bud" Lane, 75, of Chandlerville, died Wednesday morning, May 10, 2006, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Beardstown, the son of Rudolph H. "Rudy" and Myrtle Jane Cox Lane. He married Doris J. Mibbs on March 10, 1954, in Havana, and she survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Rodney (wife, Carolyn), Randy (wife, Debbie) and Ronnie (wife, Cheryl), all of Chandlerville; one daughter, Candy (husband, Joseph) Having of Chandlerville; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (wife, Luvena) of Chandlerville; and two nieces. He was preceded in death by one son, Lyle Dean; three brothers; and one sister.
Mr. Lane was a member of the Chandlerville Baptist Church, Chandlerville Post 694 American Legion and the DAV. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Korea. He worked for over 45 years at the C & IM Coal Docks in Havana, retiring in 1991.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2006, at Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville. Burial was at Bethel Cemetery in rural Chandlerville. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2006, at the funeral home.

Mayola Large - 1908-2003 - Beardstown
Mayola Large, 94, of Beardstown, died Monday morning, March 24, 2003, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.
She was born Sept. 7, 1908 in Upton, Ky., the daughter of John B. and Lucetti Leona Shipp Jaggers. She married Wilmer S. Large Oct. 24, 1925, in Cass County, and he preceded her in death Dec. 18, 1972.
She is survived by one son, Don R. (wife, Sharon) of rural Beardstown; two daughters, Iva M. Stock of Beardstown and Mary Jane (husband, Jim) Canady of Henrico, N.C.; 24 grandchildren; and several great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Eva P. Meyer, two sons, Lloyd R. and Glenn A. Large; one granddaughter; one brother, Roy Jaggers; and two sisters, Bea Tucker and Ruth Ackerman.
Mrs. Large attended Swan Lake Grade School in rural Beardstown and was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown. She farmed with her husband in Cass County. While her children were growing up, she was a homemaker and mother. She worked for nine years as a nurse's aide at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville and Schmidt Memorial Hospital in Beardstown. After her husband died, Mrs. Large enjoyed visiting and going places with her good friends Olga Treadway and Leda Dorsey. She loved to garden -- both flower and vegetable -- and she grew the "prettiest gladiolas."
Funeral serves will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown, with burial at Black Oak Cemetery in rural Beardstown. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services Friday. Family will meet friends from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Cleon Everett Launer, 72, of Virginia, died Sunday morning, June 29, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born January 12, 1936 in Beardstown, the son of Everett William and Margaret Rhineberger Launer. He married Mary Alice Summey on April 5, 1959 in Beardstown and she survives in Virginia.
Also surviving is his mother Margaret Launer of Virginia; and his sister Rita (husband John) Mitchell of Rochester.
He was preceded in death by his father, one son, Cleon Everett and one daughter, Carol Sue Launer; his brother, Roger Launer and his sister Linda Launer.
Mr. Launer graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1954 and then served in the U.S. Air Force in St. Louis. He returned to Cass County and was employed with Burlington-Northern Railroad for 37 years until his retirement. He also farmed. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs and Arenzville American Legion. Mr. Launer enjoyed traveling whether east to west coast on his motorcycle, as pilot of his airplane or simply around the area in his dune buggy or ATV.
Graveside funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, at Beardstown City Cemetery. Vistation was Tuesday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown.
Memorials have been suggested to Cass County Rescue.

Dorothy M. Launer, 1921-2008, Beardstown
Dorothy M. Launer, 86, of Beardstown, died Monday afternoon, Jan. 14, 2008, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.
She was born Oct. 14, 1921, in Beardstown, the daughter of Herman and Dora Werschied Krohe. She married Earl R. Launer on Aug. 4, 1948, in Beardstown, and he survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Lynn Hutson of Silverton, Colo., and Lorraine Wagner of Cheyenne, Wyo.; four grandchildren, Matthew Hutson and Caprice Montonati, both of Colorado, Stephanie Lightfoot of Topeka, Kan., and Christopher Hutson of Alaska; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by three brothers Glen, Harold and Lyndon Krohe.
Mrs. Launer graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1939. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was also a member of the Beardstown Community Choir and participated in several Christmas Cantatas. As a homemaker, she enjoyed sewing, music and bowling.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at First Evangelical Church in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. Memorials are suggested to First Evangelical Lutheran Church Hymnal Fund. LAUNER, Theopolis - Beardstown Illinoian Star, Jan. 11, 1910
Theopolis Launer, a resident of Cass County for 65 years, died Sunday, Jan. 9 at his residence six miles south of here on the Arenzville Road. He was born in Buffalo, NY, Jan. 30, 1838. His father, Rev. Frederick Launer built the first Lutheran Church here. He married Josephine Winhold and they were the parents of Mrs. J.F. Ralph C. Lawson, Sr. - 1916-2003 - Arenzville
Ralph C. Lawson, 87, of Arenzville, died Friday morning, Aug. 29, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 2, 1916, in Beardstown Township, the son of Samuel and Nellie M. Darrow Lawson. He married Barbara Mae Daniels on Nov. 15, 1941, in St. Louis, and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Ralph C. Jr. of Beardstown; one daughter, Ann (husband, Charles) Koch of Arenzville; three grandchildren, Becky (husband, Bob) Saylor of Beardstown, Scott Koch (companion, Tammy Lacy) of Jacksonville and Angie Koch (companion, Brock Rohn) of Beardstown; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ellen Gabbert of Warrenton, Mo. He was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters; and one granddaughter, Tina Lynn Lawson.
Mr. Lawson attended rural Cass County schools. During World War II, he and his wife were employed at the Savanna Ammunitions Plant in Savanna. He was also formerly employed with CB & Q Railroad in Beardstown and with the Arenzville-Hagener Elevator. He was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church in Beardstown. He enjoyed camping with his family and was a member of Cloud 9 Ranch in Caulfield, Mo.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Arenzville North Cemetery. Family will meet with friends from noon until the time of funeral services Sunday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at sagerfh@casscomm.com.
