LOCKETT, Betty - Buchanan Funeral Home website : Betty Lockett, 78, of Ashland, IL passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009. :
She was born July 4, 1930 in Chicago; the daughter of Harry and Della Williams Birdsell. She married Dick Lockett on June 27, 1948 in Jacksonville. He preceded her in death on November 26, 1999. : Betty is survived by her son, Randy of Ashland and her daughter, Vicki (husband, John) Zook of Athens. Her grandchildren, Darci Zook of Rochester, NY and Clayton Zook of Athens. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. : Betty was a 1948 graduate of Jacksonville High School. In 1952, she and her husband Dick, moved to France while he served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. After returning to Ashland, they constructed and established Lockett Cleaners, a dry cleaning business. She was a homemaker after 1961 when Dick purchased the Ford dealership in Ashland, known as Lockett Ford. : She was a member of the Ashland United Methodist Church, a former Cub Scout leader and member of the Ashland Junior Woman’s Club. : Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, March 13, 2009 at Ashland United Methodist Church in Ashland with burial in Ashland Cemetery. The family will meet friends at the church from 1:00 PM Friday until the time of services. Donald Ross Logan - 1918-2003 - Beardstown
Donald Ross Logan, 85, of Beardstown, died Monday morning, May 12, 2003, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born May 1, 1918, in rural Cass County near Chapin, the son of Salonis Douglas and Gertrude Bratton Logan. He married Sadie Lee Stratton Feb. 18, 1947, in Beardstown, and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Darrell (wife, Tonya) of Beardstown; six daughters, Patricia (husband, Charles) Hierman of Chapin, Donetta Lee Logan of Beardstown, Ruth Ann (husband, Paul) Sutterfield of Beardstown, Barb (husband, Mike) Dorwart of Beardstown, Judy (husband, Chuck) Fowler of Richardson, Texas, and Kathy (husband, Mike) Davis of Tower Hill; 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Joe, Charles and Fred; and one sister, Vina "Becky" Logan.
Mr. Logan joined the Army at Ford Ord in California in 1940. He was engaged in battles and campaigns of Aleutians, Ryukyus, Southern Philippines and Eastern Mandates. Staff Sergeant Logan departed enlistment in 1945 at Jefferson Barracks in Missouri with four Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart and a Good Conduct Medal. He retired from Burrus Seed Farms where he worked as a farm hand, truck driver and supervisor over the detasslers.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Goodwin Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at the Veterans' section of Oak Grove Cemetery in Beardstown. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Wal-Mart's Children's Miracle Network. Goodwin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Sadie Lee Logan - 1928-2003 - Beardstown
Sadie Lee Logan, 74, of Beardstown, died Saturday morning, Sept. 20, 2003, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Memphis, Tenn., the daughter of Ralph Lee and Fannie Spry Stratton. She married Donald Ross Logan on Feb. 18, 1947, in Beardstown, and he preceded her in death May 12, 2003.
She is survived by one son, Darrell (wife, Tonya) of Beardstown; six daughters, Patricia (husband, Charles) Hierman of Chapin, Donetta Lee, Ruth Ann (husband, Paul) Sutterfield, Barb (husband, Mike) Dorwart and Judy Fowler, all of Beardstown, and Kathy (husband, Mike) Davis of Tower Hill; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Peggy Stratton, of Jacksonville and Helen (deceased husband, Ralph) Hull of Olney; one brother, Robert Butler of Chandlerville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Edmunds and Georgie Spires; and one brother, Ralph Stratton.
Mrs. Logan was a housekeeper for Lutheran Social Services and worked at J. Capps & Sons in Jacksonville. She was dearly attached to her pet dog, Beethoven who was by her side at her death as were her children. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Goodwin Funeral Home in Beardstown. Burial of the creamated remains will immediately follow at the funeral service at Oak Grove Cemetery of Beardstown. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Clara Logsdon Dies Funeral services to be Saturday
Mrs. Curtis Logsdon, 54 years old, a widely known and highly respected citizen, died suddenly at 4:30 o'clock this morning at her home 617 West Main street. The body was taken to the Cline Funeral Home to be prepared for burial, and will be returned to the late residence tomorrow morning. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church, with the Rev. A.E. Beddoes in charge. Burial will be in the family lot at the City cemetery. Born in Cooperstown, Clara, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Travis Dozier, was born in Cooperstown January 21, 1887 and was 54 years, three months and 17 days of age at the time of her death. She was united in marriage August 7, 1905 to Curtis Logsdon and has made her home in this city since that time. Surviving besides the husband are two sons, Elmer and Ray, and a daughter Mrs. Faye Ross, all of this city; her mother, Mrs. Anna Dozier of Cooperstown; a brother Frank Dozier of Cooperstown; and the following sisters; Mrs. Almira Glenn, Mrs.Laura Heeman, both of Beardstown; Mrs. Lottie Logsdon of Cooperstown; Mrs. Hattie Mohrman and Mrs. Patterson of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Eleven grandchildren also survive. A son, Clyde, a brother, and her father preceded her in death. The decedent was a member of the Christian church of Cooperstown. A devoted wife and mother, Mrs.Logsdon was known by her many friends as a woman of noble character and kind disposition. Her sudden death came as a shock to her family, especially since only yesterday she had been in her usual good spirits and able to do her regular duties about her home.

Tetanus (lockjaw) which resulted after he had stepped on a rusty nail a week ago Tuesday, proved fatal Monday night to Clyde Logsdon., 13 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Logsdon, 617 West Main street. p.m. in the Passavant hospital in Jacksonville.
The lad died following several days of suffering from the ailment. He had stopped on the nail last Tuesday while working on a boat, the rusty point penetrating his light tennis shoes and making only a small hole in the bottom of his right foot. The youth was not taken to a doctor until Thursday, it being thought he was not seriously hurt, when Dr. Charles was called to administer the Tetanus serum.
When no relief was obtained the boy was sent to the hospital in Jacksonville, where the continued observance and treatment of several surgeons failed to save his life.
Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 10:30 from the local Christian church with Rev. Schwab of Mt. Sterling in charge. Interment was made in the City Cemetery.
The lad is survived by his parents, two brothers, Ray and Elmer and one sister, Faye, all of Beardstown. He was 12 years, 8 months and 8 days of age at the time of his death.

Elmer Logsdon, lifelong Beardstown resident, died at Schmitt Memorial Hospital early Sunday morning.
Mr. Logsdon was a river boat captain and pilot for most of his life. He was the owner of Elmer Logsdon River Construction Company, owning and operating the Clyde 1, the Elod and the Sprig.
Born in Beardstown on April 9, 1908, the son of Curtis and Clara Dosier Logsdon. He married Blanche Smith on July 1? (illegible), 1926 at Virginia, Ill.
Mr. Logsdon was a member of Owls Lodge No. ? (illegible) and A.M. Carpenters Union No. 904 Local of Jacksonville and operating Engineer Local No. ?, (illegible).

John C. Logsdon, 48, died at his residence in Beardstown at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 1990. He was born November 16, 1941, at Beardstown, the son of Ray and Elva (Jones) Logsdon. He married Judy Meyer October 2, 1960 at Browning. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Troy and Todd Logsdon; a grandson, Cole Curtis Logsdon; four brothers, Herschel, Francis, Tom and David; three sisters, Mrs. Byron (Mary) Hiles of Galesburg, Mrs. John (Pat) Davidsmeier and Reah Logsdon; his step-mother, Mrs. Ed (Bonnie) Hill; a half-brother, Michael Logsdon; an aunt, Mary E. Jones of Mt. Sterling; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, John Curtis; and a sister, Betty Logsdon. Mr. Logsdon was part owner of the Logsdon Sand and Gravel Co. in Beardstown. He was a member of Cass Lodge #23 A.F. and A.M., the Consistery of Shrine, Elks Lodge #1007, Operating Engineers Local #965 and Carpenters Local #904. Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 1990, at the Cline Funeral Home in Beardstown. Rev. Time Southerland of Garland, Texas, was the officiant. Burial was in Beardstown Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Elks Crippled Children Fund, Shrine Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

Lisa Jean Logsdon 1961-2006 Rushville
Lisa Jean Logsdon, RN, BSN, 45, of Marathon, Wis., and formerly of Rushville, died Saturday evening, Aug. 19, 2006, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, Wis.
She was born July 5, 1961, in Quincy, the daughter of Gene and Patsy Gust Logsdon.
She is survived by her companion, Dr. Mark De Clute of Marathon, Wis.; four aunts, Wanda (husband, Robert) Wheelhouse, Karen (husband, Steve) Beghtol and Jo (husband, Don) Shaw, all of Rushville and Sandy (husband, Bill) Wilkins of Petersburg; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant sister.
Ms. Logsdon graduated from Rushville High School in 1979. She continued her education, earning an LPN licensure from Blessing Hospital in Quincy in 1981 and obtained Emergency Medical Training certification in 1982. In 1986 she earned an associate degree in Nursing from Illinois Central College in East Peoria. She taught Emergency Medical Training in Schuyler County from 1982 to 1985, and was employed as a registered nurse at Proctor Hospital in Peoria for several years before moving to Nashville, Tenn., in 1994. She moved to Wausau, Wis., in 2000. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in 2003. She was pursuing a Masters Degree in Nursing from the University of Wyoming. She was employed as a radiology special procedures and cardiac cath/electrophysiology lab nurse at the Diagnostic Treatment Center in Weston, Wis. The Center is a partnership between the Marshfield Clinic and Clare’s Hospital in Weston.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with burial at Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Susan G. Louise Charlesworth Logsdon, 77, of R.R. 1 Arenzville, died at 3:45 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 1986, at Passavant Hospital.
Mrs. Logsdon was born January 22, 1909 in Arenzville, the daughter of James R. and Effie Long Charlesworth. She married Curt Logsdon and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are one brother, Wilbur Charlesworth of Arenzville; one sister, Ethel Charlesworth of R.R. 1, Arenzville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Services will be held today (Wednesday) at 1:30 p.m. at the Williamson Funeral Home, Jacksonville, with burial in Beardstown East Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Heart Fund.

Mary Evelyn Logsdon, 1923-2004, Beardstown
Mary Evelyn Logsdon, 80, of Beardstown, died Sunday, April 18, 2004, at Heritage Manor South.
She was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Beardstown, the daughter of Leroy Wishon and Eva Mae Eastham Wishon. She married Francis Lee Logsdon on April 27, 1951, at the Congregational Church of Beardstown, and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan Lee Shaw of Beardstown; one adopted daughter, Linda (husband, Dale) Zeisler of Rushville; and one nephew, Michael Lee Smith of Beardstown. She was preceded in death by one son, James Lee Logsdon, and one sister, Audrey Lee "Diddy" Smith.
Mrs. Logsdon attended the Beardstown High School and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Beardstown. She was a housewife and had worked at the Wells LaMont Glove Factory.
Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Beardstown City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at Goodwin Funeral Home in Beardstown. Family will meet with friends at the home of Susan Shaw at 600 West 2nd St., Beardstown. Memorials have been suggested to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice, Elk's Crippled Children's Fund or Shriner's. Phyllis N. Logsdon 1933-2002
Phyllis N. Logsdon, 69, of Beardstown, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at her residence.
She was born July 23, 1933, in Hadley Township, near Baylis, the daughter of K.L. "Lefty" and Nina Bernice Orebaugh Seaborn. She married Elmer Dale "Bub" Logsdon in 1955, and he preceded her in death June 14, 1986.
She is survived by her mother of Beardstown, two sons, Dana Kim (wife, Tricia) and Matthew Dale (wife, Georgeann), both of Beardstown; one daughter, Krysta Lynn Logsdon of Beardstown; seven grandchildren; and three brothers, Phillip (wife, Elaine) Seaborn and Patrick E. (wife, Lily) Seaborn, both of Baylis, and Butch (wife, Patty) Seaborn of Beardstown.
Mrs. Logsdon graduated from Beardstown High School in 1951 where she was very active in her class and participated as a cheerleader. She was employed with John M. Endres, Attorney-at-Law, in Beardstown for the past 17 years. She was an avid photographer and especially loved doing things for other people.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home with the family meeting friends from 5-7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

Margery Ellen Logue, 1921-2007, Chandlerville
Margery Ellen "Grandma Slowpoke" Logue, 86, of Chandlerville, died at Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 22, 2007, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown. She was born March 30, 1921 in Virginia, the daughter of John and Rosa Walters Hixon. She married John William "Bub" Logue on Oct, 15, 1945, and he preceded her in death on April 7, 1980.
She is survived by three daughters: Donna (companion, Wayne Forbis) Bragg of Moberly, Mo.; Margaret (husband, Benny) Chesser of Chandlerville and Darlene V. Logue of Loami; one adopted daughter: Dianna Hamm of St. Louis; two step-daughters: Emma Jean (husband, Junior) Shappaugh of Manito and Shirley (husband, Todd) Dunlevy of Springfield; two stepsons, Ivan (wife, Jo) Logue of Easton and John Logue of Chandlerville; several grandhildren and great-grandchildren; one sister Betty Wessel of Beardstown; one brother, William Leroy Hixon of Peoria, and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death one son, William Eugene Logue; one granddaughter, Kara Chesser, and a son-in-law Ted Bragg.
Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville with graveside services immediately following at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Richard L. Logue, 66, of Chandlerville, IL passed away at 5:30 am Tues. Sept. 5, 2006 at his residence. He was born January 31, 1940 in Chandlerville, the son of Adrian and Edna Dickey Logue. Both parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his brother, Carroll (wife, Denise) Logue of Chandlerville, IL; one niece, Krystle (husband, Zachary) Jankovsky of Colorado Springs, CO; two nephews, Gary (wife, Kathy) Logue of Wimpeyville, IL and James (wife, Jennifer) Logue of Springfield, IL, a grandnephew Adrian James Logue of Springfield, IL; one aunt, Theora Shoemaker of Virginia, IL; one uncle, Bill Logue of Milan, IL and numerous cousins.
Richard Served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 until 1966 and was a member of Chandler Post #694 American Legion in Chandlerville, IL. He retired as an engineer from Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired in 2005 as a bus driver and custodian for AC Central Jr. High School in Chandlerville, IL Richard was an avid drag racing fan.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday Sept. 8, 2006 at the Chandlerville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 pm Thursday at the Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville. Memorial contributions may be made to the AC Central Marching Band.
