Thomas J. Lucas, 1934-2007, Virginia
   Thomas J. Lucas, 72, of Virginia, and formerly of Elk Grove Village, died Saturday morning, March 3, 2007 at his residence.
   He was born April 8, 1934 in Harts Creek, W. Va., the son of Herless and Dixie Adams Lucas. He married Wanda Zieler on Dec. 12, 1959 in Chicago, and she survives.
   He is also survived by three sons, Tommy (wife, Shelia) of Chapmanville, W.Va., David (wife, Mary Ann) of Virginia, and Nick (wife, Debbie) of Oklahoma City; four daughters, Loretta (husband, Arson) Tackett of Harts, W.Va., Toni-Lee Zanoli of Lynnfield, Mass., Lillette Irizarry of Rockford, and Kathleen Markocki of Buffalo Grove; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Oscar (wife, Joyce) of Chapmanville, W.Va.; three sisters, Mae Belcher and Virgie Lucas, both of Chapmanville, W. Va.; and Virginia (husband, Richard) Vavorek of Mineral Point, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Elmer, David Lee, Carmen and Kermit.
   Mr. Lucas was last employed by Inland Container in Elk Grove Village as a maintenance supervisor prior to his retirement in 2001. He was an avid wood worker and of the Christian faith.
   Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home in Virginia, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Chester C. Lutkehus, 1925-2007, Arenzville
   Chester C. Lutkehus, 82, of Arenzville, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.
   He was born May 2, 1925, in Arenzville, the son of Otto and Kathryn Lahey Lutkehus. He married Lois D. Efaw on March 10, 1960, in Beardstown, and she survives.
   He is also survived by one son, Russell (companion Kathy Redshaw) of Springfield; one granddaughter, Lainey Lutkehus of Beardstown; two sisters, Marjorie Sheehan of Jacksonville and Rosalie Cox of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Russell; one brother in infancy; and three sisters, Jean Harbin (surviving husband Gilbert of Arenzville), Mary Louise Lutkehus, and Kathryn Ann McKean.
   Mr. Lutkehus was a refrigeration mechanic with Anderson-Clayton/Kraft Foods. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville, American Legion Post 604, and Boilermakers Local 483. He served on the Arenzville Town Council for 16 years.
   Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville, with burial at Arenzville North Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Friday at the Williamson Funeral Home, where family will meet friends from 5-7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to American Legion Post 604 or the Trinity Lutheran Church Elevator Fund. James J. Lyles, 1936-2007, Beardstown
   James J. Lyles, 70, of Beardstown, died Friday evening, June 1, 2007, in Beardstown.
   He was born Aug. 15, 1936, in Beardstown, the son of James W. and Pearl Lisenbee Lyles. He married Sandra J. Fryer on June 10, 1961, in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., and she survives.
   He is also survived by one son, John of Beardstown; two daughters, Jodi Grafford and Doris (husband, Ken) Pilger, both of Beardstown; and three grandsons, Randy and Adam Pherigo and Austin Pilger.
   Mr. Lyles served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 until 1961. He was employed with Oscar Mayer in Beardstown for 20 years and then Excel Corporation for 12 years until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and B.P.O. Elks Club 1007 in Beardstown. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and trapping. His greatest joy in life was being with his wife, children and grandsons.
   Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Kevin W. Lyles, January 31, 1973-June 28, 2008
   Kevin W. Lyles, 35, of Beardstown, died Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the Macomb Speedway in Macomb.
   He was born January 31, 1973 in Rushville, the son of Butch and Karen Pherigo Lyles.
   He married Jyll Lancaster, his companion of 14 years, on June 7, 2008 in Beardstown and she survives.
   Also surviving are his father, Butch Lyles of St. Joseph, Missouri; his mother, Karen Lyles of Beardstown; four children: Cheyenne Lyles of Springfield and Megan, Emily, and Kaleb Lyles all at home in Beardstown; one grandson, James Powell; one sister, Heather Ren of Rushville; two brothers, Brandon (wife, Renee) Lyles and Shawn (wife, Angie) Lyles both of Beardstown; and five nieces and nephews: Cody and Matthew Ren and Dylan, Sydney and Lyndsey Lyles.
   He was preceded in death by his grandparents Floyd and Mabel Lyles and Walt and Laura Pherigo.
   Kevin was currently employed with Tri-Tech Construction presently at the Cargill facility in Beardstown. He greatly enjoyed building and repairing hot rods and participating in Figure 8 Car Racing. As an incredibly caring person, Kevin’s passion in life was friendship—he was a kind and thoughtful friend to everyone. He will be sadly and deeply missed by his numerous good friends and his family.
   Memorial services for Kevin Lyles were held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 2 at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Beardstown City Cemetery. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:45 a.m. led by a 1923 Ford Roadster carrying the cremated remains of Kevin to the graveside.
   Memorials have been suggested to the Children of Kevin Lyles.

Arthur L. Lynn, 1920-2003, Ashland
   Arthur L. Lynn, 83, of Ashland, died Tuesday evening , Oct. 21, 2003, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
   He was born Feb. 14, 1920, in Ashland, the son of Arthur Pete and Helena Stonestreet Lynn. He married Dorothy Irene Williams on Sept. 8, 1944, in Peoria, and she preceded in death Sept. 1, 1983.
   He is survived by five sons, Arthur "Gary" (wife, Linda) of Jacksonville, Fla., Larry Lee (wife, Connie), Rick and Randy, all of Ashland and Thomas (wife, Glenda) of Topeka; two daughters, Dianna Budde of Jacksonville and Helena "Frannie" (husband, Derek) Schmidt of Fruitland, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six brothers, Jack (wife, Dee) of Springfield, Shelby of Petersburg, Elmer (wife, Beverly) of Des Moines, Iowa, Chester (wife, Violet) of Wisconsin, Roy (wife, Ruth) of Jacksonville and Gerald (wife, Orene) of Tallula; one sister, Evadean (husband, Art) Juergens of Petersburg; several nieces and nephews; and his longtime companion, Betty Alexander of Virginia. He was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Donna Sue and Kathy Sue Lynn; two brothers; and two sisters.
   Mr. Lynn was a graduate of Ashland High School. He served in the National Guard and later joined the U.S. Army during World War II. He was later discharged as a sergeant. He was employed with the Illinois Department of Transportation and later drove a gas truck in Cass County. He retired as a security guard for the Centennial Building in Springfield. He was a former member of the Beardstown Moose Lodge and the Ashland and New Berlin American Legion posts.

Bessie A. Lynn, 1924-2002, Virginia
   Bessie A. Lynn, 78, of Virginia, died Saturday evening, Nov. 9, 2002, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
   She was born Feb. 20, 1924, in Essex, the daughter of Michael Riley and Sophie Hasselman Wright. She married James Norman Lynn Dec. 19, 1944, and he preceded her in death in July of 1970.
   She is survived by three daughters, Georgia Jones of Springfield, Nancy (husband, Russell) Taylor of Loda, and Jeanette (husband, Wendell) Harbin of Beardstown; two sons, Dana B. (wife, Connie) of Virginia, Sgt. Carl R. (wife, Gerlinde) stationed with the U.S. Army in Ansbach, Germany; one stepdaughter, Joann Martin of Kansas City, Mo.; one stepson, Deadrick (wife, Cindi) Lynn of Lansing, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl Michael Wright, Howard Wright, James Riley Wright, and Leroy Wright; and three half sisters, Elsie Monferdini, Stella Sarti, and Minnie Bolotta.
   Mrs. Lynn was employed at Kordite in Jacksonville and later operated the Grand Villa restaurant in Virginia. She also served as bookkeeper for her husband's Standard Service Station in Virginia. At various times through her career, she worked as a nurse's aide in nursing homes and private residences. She attended the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church in rural Virginia. An avid gardener and mushroomer, she enjoyed bingo, playing cards, lottery tickets, and solving puzzles.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home in Virginia, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Virginia Bread of Love or Cass County Home Health Care.

Charles Robert 'Bob' Lynn, 1924-2007, Beardstown
   Charles Robert "Bob" Lynn, 82, of Beardstown, died Saturday morning, April 21, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
   He was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Beardstown, the son of Lester and Hazel Mae Landes Lynn.
   He is survived by three sisters, Betty Hammel, Dorothy Lancaster and Peggy Greathouse, all of Beardstown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Abe; and two sisters, Patsy Workman and Hazel Crawford.
   Mr. Lynn served in the U.S. Navy for 16 years during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked for the Mechling Barge Line. He loved to fish and enjoyed traveling to Wisconsin in order to do some fishing there.
   Memorial graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Veteran's Section at Oak Grove Cemetery in Beardstown. Sager Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

   Frances E. Lynn, 89, of Virginia, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown.
   She was born April 3, 1919, in Beardstown, the daughter of Jake and Maude Smith Long. She married William "Fat" Lynn on April 27, 1942, in Virginia and he survives.
   She is also survived by two sons, Mike Lynn (wife, Janet) of Virginia and Ron Lynn (companion, Sue Smith) of Virginia; five grandchildren, Billy Mike Lynn (wife, Shelly) of Virginia, Ann Iberg of Highland, Brent Lynn (wife, Amy) of Yukon, Okla., Renee Richard (husband, Eric) of Ripley, Okla., and Shawn Lynn of Ashland; eight great-grandchildren, Cody and Bryce Iberg, Cooper Jack and Emma Rose Lynn, Kreas Rose Richard, Emma Katherine Lynn, Mason Tanner, and Lauren Fedderson; and several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Lynn; and three sisters, Audrey Braner, Olga Treadway, and Erma Mullens.
   Mrs. Lynn was a graduate of Virginia High School and a member of the Cass County Home Extension. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and gardening in her yard.
   Graveside funeral services will be held 11:45 a.m. Saturday at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Shirley Ann Lyons, 75, of Virginia, IL died Friday, July 10, 2009 at the Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.
   She was born April 30, 1934 in Philadelphia, IL; the daughter of Clarence Robert and Edith Lela Black Yancy. She married Robert Lyons on November 14, 1953 in Virginia and he survives.
   She is also survived by a son, Robert Sherman Lyons (wife, Debra) of Virginia; a daughter, Tena Marie Michels (husband, Sidney Wayne) of Ellery; a granddaughter, Crystal Michels of Ellery; two brothers, Charles Yancy of Auburn and Oliver Yancy of Lovelock, NV; three sisters, Dorothy Woods of Jacksonville, Lela Tenbush of Springfield, and Helen Anderson of Medford, OR; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and eight brothers and sisters.
   Mr. Lyons was a graduate of Virginia High School and was employed in the laboratory at Passavant Hospital for many years. She was a member of Virginia Church of Christ.
   Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia, IL.
