Grace Louise Mibb, 1930-2007, Chandlerville
   Grace Louise Mibb, 77, of Chandlerville, died Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 6, 2007, at Mason District Hospital in Havana.
   She was born March 22, 1930, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Mary Marie Henry. She married Herschel O. "Polly" Mibb on April 17, 1948, in Ashland, and he preceded her in death June 22, 1998.
   She is survived by three daughters, Deborah Richardson and Janice (husband, Bob) Whitehead, both of Chandlerville and Sharon (husband, Donnie) Williams of Carthage, Mo.; two sons, Harold and Samuel, both of Chandlerville; seven grandchildren, Kerry Kolves, Eric and Herschel Mibb, Matthew and Jennifer Richardson, Bobbi Jean Carlock and Holly Smith; and seven great-grandchildren.
   Mrs. Mibb worked in the title division of the Secretary of State, State of Illinois for over 20 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
   Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Olive Cemetery in rural Chandlerville. Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.hurleyfh.com.

Franklin E. Michael, 75, of Virginia, died Monday morning, December 10, 2007 at his residence.
   He was born March 22, 1932 in rural Chandlerville, the son of James and Goldie Hall Michael. He married Eva Louise Pierce on July 25, 1969 in Virginia, and she preceded in death on May 29, 1998.
   He is survived by two step sons, Ralph (wife, Diana) Clements of Houston and Larry (wife, Marilyn) Clements of Carrollton; two stepdaughters, Marilyn Jeanne Sharrow of Bluffs and Bonita "Bonnie" (husband, Larry) McSweagin of Dayton, Ohio; 17 step-grandchildren; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Cowin of Petersburg; several nieces and nephews; and a companion, Viola Beddingfield of Virginia. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Michael; and one sister, Dorothy Bottens.
   Mr. Michael farmed for 12 years and later worked for Virginia Forest Products for 12 years. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a machine operator for Ideal Industries of Petersburg. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Virginia.
   Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Deborah L. Michaels, 1951-2008, Mason City
   Deborah L. Michaels, 56, of Mason City, died Tuesday evening, April 22, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
   She was born Oct. 28, 1951, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Robert and Luvena Curry Lane.
   She is survived by her father; companion, Dale Marlo; two daughters, Heather Michaels of Mason City and Rachel (husband, Michael) Tribbett of Springfield; five grandchildren, Dylian, Dalton, Dalanie Damm and Takoda and Eryk Tribbett; two stepgrandchildren, Destiny and Michael Tribbett; and one sister, Beverly Lane of Springfield. She was preceded in death by her mother.
   Ms. Michaels was a member of the Baptist Church in Chandlerville, a part of Mason County Crimestoppers and manager of Cenex Fuel Station in Mason City for many years.

Irvin Mickens - 1911-2006 Arenzville
   Irvin Mickens, 95, of Arenzville, died Friday morning, Aug. 18, 2006, at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown.
   He was born Aug. 17, 1911, in O'Fallen, Mo., the son of Elizabeth Mozee. He married Mae-Belle Lewis July 28, 1943, in Olympia, Wash., and she preceded him in death Aug. 29, 2003.
   He is survived by two daughters, Sallie Mickens of Bloomington and Madelene (husband, Anthony) Rhone of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Salina (husband, Evon) Shaw of Richmond, Va., Christina and Shanita Mickens, both of Bloomington, and Kashima, Jamale, Vernale and Michael (companion, Trista) Rhone, all of Springfield; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Aulgusta; five brothers, Fred, Henry, John and Mark Mozee and Clifford Mickens; and three sisters, Rosie Mozee, Emma and Erse.
   Mr. Mickens worked for R.D. Lawrence in Springfield retiring in 1977. He was a member of Jacksonville Laborer's Union 916 and he loved farming and gardening.
   Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cody & Son Memorial Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Jacksonville East Cemetery. John Perry Middaugh - 1938-2003 - Beardstown
   John Perry Middaugh, 64, of Beardstown, died Sunday morning, Aug. 24, 2003, at his residence.
   He was born Dec. 13, 1938, in Beardstown, the son of William and Irene Noonan Middaugh.
   He is survived by four brothers, Richard and Charles of Beardstown, Leonard of Joliet and Raymond of Sherman; one sister, Mary Birdsell of Algonquin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother in infancy; two brothers, Albert and Fred; and one sister Lois Worley.
   Mr. Middaugh loved to ride his bicycle around Beardstown and spend time with his good friend, Scott Surratt.
   Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Beardstown City Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.

   BEARDSTOWN - Edwin Christy Miller Sr., 74, of 1017 Wall St. died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, at his home.
    Born Dec. 7, 1922, in Rushville to Clarence Christy and Edna Louise Crews Miller, he married Velma Schall on Sept. 11, 1946, in Beardstown. She survives.
   Also surviving are two sons, Edwin Jr. of Browning and Greg of Sullivan, Ind.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. One granddaughter also preceded him in death.
   He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving as a medic on the island of Antigua in the Caribbean.
   He was a farmer near Astoria and also worked for Moormon Feed. He also was a carpenter with his father.
   He was counselor with Cass County Mental Health Department, Brokaw Hospital in Bloomington and retired in 1987 from St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
   He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ.
   Graveside burial of cremains will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mud Valley Cemetery near Astoria. The Rev. Betty Hornback will officiate. Arrangements are by Sager Funeral Home.
   Memorials may be made to Mud Valley Cemetery Fund.

   General W.W. Miller of Olympia, Washington Territory, died Jan. 24th at the age of 54. He was born Jan. 12, 1822 , in Greensburg, KY. He moved with his parents to Morgan Co., IL and in 1844 to Cass County, IL. He moved to Washington Territory in 1849. He leaves a wife and two sons in Washington Territory, a brother, E.P. Miller and sisters Mrs. J.A. Arenz and Mrs. S. Emmons of this county.

   SULLIVAN, Ind. - Gregory Alan Miller, 51, of Sullivan, formerly of rural Browning, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Sullivan.
   He was born Sept. 22, 1950, in Beardstown, the son of Edwin C. and Velma Schall Miller. He married Candy Ludwick in 1985 in Clay County, Ind.
   Mr. Miller graduated from Astoria High School in 1968 and worked at Black Beauty Coal Mine in Farmersburg, Ind. He also was the owner and operator of Miller Welding in Sullivan and a member of Astoria Church of the Brethren.
   Survivors: wife, Candy; two sons, William (wife, Lorili) Miller of Pekin and Jon (wife, Misty) Miller of Browning; a daughter, Carla Nero of Kansas; five grandchildren; mother, Velma Miller of Springfield; a brother, Edwin Jr. (wife, Linda) Miller of Browning; and several nieces and nephews.
   Cremation rites will be accorded.
   Graveside services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Mud Valley Cemetery, south of Astoria.

Lloyd Miller, 1915-2007, Beardstown
   Lloyd Edwin Miller, 91, of Beardstown, died Friday morning, Oct. 19, 2007, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.
   He was born Dec. 31, 1915, in Vermont, Ill., the son of Linneaus and Ethel Cox Miller. He married LeIsle Lambert on May 1, 1939 in Cahokia, Mo., and she survives.
   He is also survived by two sons, David, (wife, Carol) and Dan (wife, Beth), both of Beardstown; four grandchildren Sara and Sean Miller both of St. Peters, Mo., Adam Miller of Beardstown and Brooke (husband, Shane) Beller of Springfield; two great-granddaughters; one brother, Lloyal of Bartonville; and one sister, Doris Crouse of Macomb.
   Mr. Miller graduated from Vermont High School in the class of 1933. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II in the western hemisphere. He was a member of the First Christian Church and Guthrie-Pierce VFW Post 1239 and formerly a member of Beardstown Rotary and Beardstown Boat Club. He was a lifelong Masters NRA member. He previously was employed at Krogers in Beardstown for 23 years, then owned and operated Beardstown Superway, and from 1970 until 1987 worked for Oscar Mayer in Beardstown. He enjoyed hunting, tinkering at his farm and collecting and repairing antique tools.
   Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Memorials are suggested to Beardstown Christian Academy. Patsy L. Miller, 60, of Virginia, IL died Wednesday evening, October 21, 2009 surrounded by her family at her home following a brief battle with kidney cancer.
   She was born July 12, 1949 in Beardstown, IL; the daughter of Alvin O. and Dolores Marie Lovekamp Reichert. She married Mike E. Miller on July 14, 1968 in Virginia, IL and he survives. She is also survived by her mother of Virginia; two daughters, Nancy Scott (husband, Kevin) of Virginia and Jody Kershaw (husband, Tony) of Murrayville; three grandchildren, Sage Kershaw, Cy Kershaw, and Brigadere Scott; three sisters, Judy Dillard (husband, Chuck) of Jacksonville, Vicki Robson (husband, David) of Woodson, and Sheila Knisley of Jacksonville; a brother, James Reichert (wife, Susie) of Virginia; and Several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.
   Mrs. Miller was a 1967 graduate of Virginia High School and had served as the office manager and bookkeeper for the Cass County Health Department since 1983. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed reading, gardening, raising pumpkins, and spending time with her three grandchildren.
   Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held 6:00 PM Monday, October 26, 2009 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Virginia. The family will meet friends at the church from 4:30 PM Monday until the time of services. MILNER, Richard - paper unknown
   Richard Milner was born in 1818, in Preston, England, son of Mr. and Mrs.Thomas Milner. He died 28 April 1899, and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Beardstown. He moved to Canada in 1842, then to Morgan County, Illinois, for fifteen months before settling in Beardstown, Cass County, in 1849. He married Hannah Woods in England, and they were parents of Mrs. Rebecca Wroe, Mrs.Nancy Roehl, Mrs. Rose Baujan, Mrs. Margaret Dixon, Mary and Thomas. His working years included wagon making, blacksmithing, employee of the C.B. & Q. Railroad and as a bridge tender. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Mrs. Debra K. Minor
   Debra K. Minor, 46, of Virginia died Thursday evening, January 10, 2002 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She was born on November 4, 1955 in White Hall the daughter of David F. and Myrtle Mercer Horney. She married Jerry Minor on January 28, 1976 in White Hall and he survives in Virginia.
   She is also survived by two daughters, Rebecca (fiance, Brian Harris) Minor and Rachel Minor, both of Virginia; one son, J.T. Minor, Jr. of Virginia; one step-son, James T. Minor of Glasgow, Kentucky; her parents, David F. and Myrtle Horney of Jacksonville; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three sisters, Carol (husband, Steve) McNealy of Jacksonville, Becky Jones of San Jose, California, and Janet (husband, Warren) Smith of Jacksonville; three brothers, David F. "Fred" (wife, Susie) Horney, III of Hollywood, Florida, Dan Horney of Springfield, and Mike (wife, Lisa) Horney of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
   This upcoming May would have marked 24 years of employment for Mrs. Minor at Pactiv in Jacksonville. She also worked part-time at Hucks in Jacksonville, and had earlier been a waitress at Sambo's in Jacksonville. She was a member of the Virginia Jaycees and enjoyed the sun, water, and boating. She attended Harvest Temple United Pentecostal Church in Jacksonville.
   Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2002 at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville with burial at Virginia Cemetery in Virginia. Friends may call after 12 Noon on Saturday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to her grandchildren's education fund.

Evelyn K. Moeller, 1920-2008, Beardstown
   Evelyn K. Moeller, 88, of Beardstown, died Monday morning, March 10, 2008, at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown.
   She was born Jan. 2, 1920, in Cook County, the daughter of Henry Otto and Martha Knauer. She married Carl R. Moeller on Nov. 30, 1946, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown, and he preceded her in death.
   She is survived by one son, Fredrick C. Sr. of Beardstown; two grandchidren, Fredrick C. Moeller Jr. of Chicago and Jesse Dean of Hogansville, Ga.; and one brother, Clifford Fredrick Knauer of Miami.
   Mrs. Moeller was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown. She was formerly employed at Schultz-Baujan Mill and Millard Florist in Beardstown.
   Memorial services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at a later date at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery near Beardstown.    Fred Moeller, who resided at 317 West Third street, died last night at a hospital in Jacksonville where he had been a patient only a few days. Mr.Moeller had been in failing health. The body was brought to Cline's Funeral Home in this city today and funeral arrangements and obituary will be given later. Mr. Moeller was employed for many years at Long's Grocery. He was a member of the Elk's Lodge and was well known in Beardstown. Since last July, Mr. Moeller had lived alone at his home at 317 West Third street. His sister, the late Ella Rosier, resided there with him until her death in July 1952.

James William Montgomery, 1941-2007, Beardstown
   James William Montgomery, 65, of Beardstown, died Saturday evening, Jan. 6, 2007, at his residence.
   He was born Feb. 21, 1941, in Beardstown, the son of Jake and Betty Mills Montgomery. He married Hattie Ragland Stephenson on May 6, 1962, in Beardstown, and she preceded him in death April 9, 2004.
   He is survived by five sons, Charles Montgomery, Delbert Stephenson and Richard Stephenson, all of Beardstown, James Montgomery of Lexington, Ky., and Edward (wife, Teresa) Stephenson of Bluffs; one daughter, Rixie Lyons of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, David of Springfield; and four sisters, Beverly Dotzert of Mount Sterling; Jean Montgomery of Kansas City, Kan., Patricia Montgomery of California; and Fay Montgomery of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; his companion, Verna Lisenbee; and one brother, Bud.
   Mr. Montgomery was formerly employed with Burlington-Northern Railroad in Beardstown. He enjoyed mowing yards and repairing lawn mowers.

Mary Imogene Moore, 1922-2008, Beardstown
   Mary Imogene Moore, 85, of Beardstown, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.
   She was born June 3, 1922, in Buenevista Township near Rushville, the daughter of Johnie Franklin and Verena Margaret Dodds Kinsey. She married Joseph "Joe" Moore on Nov. 16, 1941, in Springfield, and he preceded her in death Nov. 23, 2004.
   She is survived by one brother, Bill (wife, Ruth) Kinsey of Arenzville; two sisters, June (husband, Harold) Beard of Roseville and Audrey Vinent of Camden; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Loren Kinsey; and one sister, Alice Young.
   Mrs. Moore graduated from Rushville High School in 1940. She was a member of First Christian Church in Beardstown and served on the ground breaking committee of the present church. She was a member of and held several offices in the Order of the Eastern Star. She held secretarial positions prior to her marriage. She and her husband then farmed south of Beardstown and were also bus drivers for the Beardstown School District. She was also formerly employed by Millard Florist in Beardstown. She was a gifted piano player, a good cook and an immaculate home maker -- caring well for her surroundings, flowers, garden and yard.

Nellie M. Moore, 1910-2007, Beardstown
   Nellie Mae Moore, 97, of Beardstown, and formerly of Rushville, died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 31, 2007, at her residence.
   She was born Aug. 18, 1910, in Schuyler County, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Ann Harris Hoke. She married John D. "Jack" Moore and he preceded her in death in March 1977.
   She is survived by one son, Jack (wife, Beverly) of Beardstown; one daughter, Doris of Beardstown; one grandson, Rick Taylor of Beardstown; two stepgrand-daughters, Suzanne (husband, Kraig) Prather of Rushville and Sherry (husband, Dave) Wells of Beardstown; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
   Mrs. Moore attended Christian Neck School in Schuyler County and Rushville High School. She was previously employed at Cudahays Packing in Rushville until her retirement in 1976 after which she cleaned homes in Rushville. She was an avid quilter and loved her family and her faithful poodle, Rusty.
   Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Rushville City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Cass/Schuyler Area Hospice. Robert E Moore - 1924-2008
   Robert E Moore, 83 of Havana, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the V.A. Hopsital in Danville, IL.
   He was born June 19, 1924 in Chicago as the son of Walter Hubert Moore and Mildred Margaret Johnson. On August 18, 1951 he married Shirley Gillice of Evergreen Park, IL and they raised a family of five children in Virginia, IL. Shirley preceded him in death in 1984. Robert later wed Evelyn Watson on December 30, 1986 in Havana, where she resides today.
   Mr. Moore owned and operated the Midwest Pallet Company in Virginia and later Havana until his retirement in 1986. He was a lifetime member of Havana VFW Post #6408, the Havana Paddlewheel Bowling Association and the Lakewood Golf Association. He attended Onarga Military Academy and 302nd Infantry Regiment 94th Division under Gen. George S Patton in Central Europe from 1944-1945.
   In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Bruce (wife, Sue) Moore of Palatine; four daughter, Beverly Sanders of Springfield, Brenda (husband, Kevin) Hamm of Bunn, NC, Bonnie (husband Phillip) Douglas of Springfield, and Bette (husband William P.) Brady of Tinley Park. Also surviving are four step-sons, Kendall (Patti) Miller of Lewistown, Kevin (Shari) Miller and Kimball (Pauline) Miller borth of Havana, Kent (Beth) Miller of Roodhouse; three step-daughters, Kara (James) Garrett of Havana, Kaylynn (Scott) Pherigo of Topeka and Kamie Miller of Peoria. Twenty-seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and his twin sister Betty Adkins of Chicago also survive.
   Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Danville Veteran's Medical Center. The Hurley Funeral Home in Havana is in charge of the arrangements.

   Michael Christopher Morales, 25, Beardstown, died Sunday morning, July 8, 2007, in Industry.
   He was born Sept. 22, 1981, in El Paso, Texas, the son of Manuel A. Morales and Epifania Manzo.
   He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Epifania Manzo and Enrique Rios of Beardstown; his father, Manuel Morales of Texas; one daughter, Alexis Lee Avila of El Paso, Texas; one son, Dalton Large of Alsey; one brother, Gabriel Rodriguez of Texas; his maternal grandmother, Josefa Celis of Mexico; his paternal grandmother, Carmen Morales of Texas; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
   Mr. Morales attended St. Alexius Catholic Church in Beardstown. He was employed at Mossberg Sanitation, Inc. at Cargill Meat Solutions in Beardstown.
   Funeral Mass will be celebrated noon Saturday at St.. Alexius Catholic Church in Beardstown, with burial at St. Alexius Catholic Cemetery in Beardstown. The family will meet with friends from 2-6 p.m. Friday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Condolences may be sent to sagerfh@casscomm.com.

MORGAN, Amanda - Illinoian Star, Beardstown, Illinois, Monday, March 11, 1907 - Submitted by Carol Orwig
   Mrs. Amanda Morgan died Sunday morning at 10 o’clock at her home five miles southwest of this city after a lingering illness of pneumonia. Amanda Howell was born at Hagener this county, on April 1st, 1835 and on January 10th 1856 she was united in marriage to Simeon Morgan. To this union nine children were born, six of whom with the husband are left to mourn her death. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Sand Prairie Church, interment occurring in the cemetery nearby.

   Ella, wife of Edwin Morrison of Arenzville died in Bluff Springs while visiting her daughters, Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Buxton. She was buried Friday at Mathews graveyard. She was 50 and death due to lung fever. (This cemetery is also called James Richardson).

   Died at the residence of her parents in Oregon Precinct, Mrs. Nancy Morrow, age 34, of dropsy. She leaves a daughter, her mother and a sister.
