Walter "Pete" Yancy - July 6, 2008
Walter Lee "Pete" Yancy, 79 years, of Philadelphia, IL died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at his residence.
   He was born June 15, 1929 in Philadelphia, the son of Clarence and Edith Black Yancy. He married Emma Rose Sherren on January 5, 1962 in Virginia, IL and she survives.
   He is also survived by a step daughter, Clara Ellen Patton (husband, John) of Manteca, CA; two step granddaughters, Kelly Elizabeth Simmons and Vanessa Anderson (husband, Gary), all of California; two brothers, Oliver Yancy of Nevada and Charlie Yancy (wife, Donna) of Auburn; four sisters, Helen Anderson of Medford, OR, Dorothy Woods of Jacksonville, Lela Tenbusch of Springfield, and Shirley Lyons (husband, Bob) of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Sherwood, and Lyle Yancy and two sisters, Viola Matthews and Hester Pettit.
   Mr. Yancy was a graduate of Virginia High School and served six years with the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He farmed five years for Armour Adkins, worked 20 years at Oscar Meyer in Beardstown, and farmed again for Richard Adkins for six years prior to retirement. He was a member of the Virginia Church of Christ and had attended woodworking classes. He enjoyed gardening and remodeling his home.
   Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, July 11, 2008 at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia with burial at Pleasant Plains Cemetery in Pleasant Plains. Friends may from 5:00 to 6:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial gifts are suggested to Virginia Church of Christ. Condolences may be sent online at www.buchanancody.com.

YAPLE, L.P.R., Virginia Gazette, October 21,1898
   Word was received here, by his daughter, Mrs. Jennie Purviance, of Pleasant Plains, that her father, L.P.R. Yaple, could not long survive. Another daughter, Mrs. Rosalle Saunders of Pueblo, Colorado, has been visiting Mrs. Purviance. L.P.R. Yaple and family were former residents here in Virginia and located in 1870 to Leadville, and later, Aspen, Colorado. They also have a daughter, Mrs. Noble Heaton, of Spangler, Washington. It is also reported that Mrs. Yaple is also ill.

YECK, Arthur - Sacramento Union, CA, Sunday, November 2, 1935

Capital brakeman found dead beside train near Summit
   Arthur Yeck, 51, Southern Pacific brakeman working out of Sacramento, was found dead yesterday in the snow beside the train which he had been helping to inspect at Troy, near the summit.
   Lack of injuries or bruises indicated Yeck's death was due to heart trouble, company officials reported. The body was taken to Colfax and placed in charge of the coroner.
   The freight train on which Yeck was working had stopped at Troy for regular inspection. As the train started up, men on the caboose noticed Yeck's body. He was dead when picked up.
   A sister, Miss Flossie H. Yeck in Arcade district, survived as do two brothers, Clarence and Earl Yeck.

   Died Monday the 4th, Mrs. Julia Yeck. She came to Arenzville 41 years ago. She leaves five children, two sons, three daughters and many grandchildren. Her husband died several years ago.

YOHE, Samuel - Star Gazette, Beardstown, Illinois, February 15, 1907 - Submitted by Carol Orwig
   Christopher Samuel Yohe was born in Adams county, Pennsylvania, November 28, 1846 and died at his home near Arcadia Sunday. Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Baptist church, Elder C.T. Caywood of Franklin officiating, and interment was made in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. The deceased came to this state in 1877, where he was married to Miss Catharine Trone, who died in 1897. In 1899 he was again married to Mrs. Arena Way, who survives, together with four brothers and four sisters, among whom is Mrs. Amanda Felix of this city. The deceased became a Christian in childhood, and united with the German Lutheran church, of which he was a member at the time of his death.

Franklin D. Young - 1937-2003 - Beardstown
   Franklin D. Young, 65, of Beardstown, died Monday morning, Jan. 27, 2003, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
   He was born July 10, 1937, in Astoria, the son of William Wayne and Sarah Elizabeth Greene Young.
   He is survived by five sons, Allen, (wife, Jennifer), Eric (wife, Maryann), Thomas, Timothy, and Chris, all of Beardstown; one daughter, Kathleen (husband, Scott) Smith, of Galesburg; six grandchildren; one brother, Charles (wife, Frances), of Rushville; and one sister, Olive (husband, Roger) Toland, of Industry. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Alberta Faye Wetherford.
   Mr. Young graduated from Rushville High School in the class of 1956, and was a member of the Rushville Southern Baptist Church. He retired after 22 years of service from Bohn Heat and Transfer in Beardstown. He enjoyed carpentry work and reading western novels.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Good Hope Cemetery in Schuyler County. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Barbara Ann Zeisler, 1936-2007, Beardstown
   Barbara Ann Zeisler, 71, of Beardstown, died Monday afternoon, Oct. 29, 2007, at her residence.
   She was born July 6, 1936, in Beardstown, the daughter of Elmer S. and Edith Surratt Bell. She married Don Zeisler on Aug. 27, 1954, in Schuyler County, and he survives.
   She is also survived by two nephews; and one niece. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald Sherman; two brothers, Elmer William and Thomas Leon Bell; two sisters, Edith Denton and Myrtle Swan; two nephews; and one niece.
   Mrs. Zeisler was an avid CB operator with a handle of "The Beardstown Genie." She enjoyed listening to old time country music.
   Graveside funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Beardstown City Cemetery. Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to sagerfh@casscomm.com.
