The following descriptions are solely mine as an individual and as a citizen of Robinson. The descriptions have not been reviewed or approved by the Robinson Chamber of Commerce or any official of the city of Robinson or any of the orginizations listed.
Latitude=39 degrees 0 minutes 19 seconds North Robinson Illinois - Home of: The "Heath" Candy company (Recently acquired by the "Hershey" Candy Company), and James Jones (1921-1977): Author of "From Here to Eternity". One of the major novelists of his generation is known primarily as the author of fiction that probes the effects of World War II on the individual soldier. Born in Robinson, Illinois, Jones entered the U.S. Army and had the distinction of being the only major writer to witness the attack by the Japanese on Pearl Harbor.
Robinson is a great place to visit, and an excellent place to live. Robinson offers its citizens all the necessities of a modern community, yet the fast pace of the big city are left behind here. Robinson has quality schools and daycare facilities, affordable housing, job opportunities in a wide variety of categories, a top-of-the-line public library, excellent medical facilities for both humans and their pets, a convenient airport, railway and trucking access is a major local benefit to both major employers and citizens. Robinson offers its citizens excellent Police, Fire, Ambulance and Rescue service. We have three Golf courses, shooting and archery ranges, a public swimming pool, many ball diamonds, basketball and tennis courts, two city parks, a Bowling alley and other recreational resources. Within our county we have an abundance of information for history, genealogy, preservation and architecture buffs. Located in Robinson and Crawford County are many gorgeous historic homes, some of which are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. There are many historical markers throughout the county. We have an excellent variety of quaint specialty shops, as well as several modern chain grocery stores, fast-food chain stores, and the popular discount chain - "Wal-Mart". Robinson has excellent Nursing Home facilities and assisted living facilities. Excellent resources are available for the mentally and physically handicapped, abused women, and a top-rate "Big Brother/Sister" agency. Robinson is within 2 hours of Indy and Evansville, and 3 hrs from St. Louis. You can get to major concerts, plays, sporting and other events quickly using easily accessed interstate 70 or highway 41. Robinson is a place where you can live an easy-paced life in a low crime, friendly community that has much to offer.
