Ice Cream Social 2003
The 100th anniversary of flight was the theme for the 2003 Ice Cream Social held Sunday, July 27, 2003, on the grounds of the Catlin Heritage Museum.
The weather was hot but with a cooling breeze most of the time.
In keep with the theme, there was a display of model radio-controlled airplanes by Gene Ward, Carl Young, Charlie Roderick and James Black of the Model Radio Controlled Plane Club.
Ron Colwell displayed various books about flight and some of Jeff's model planes.
Linda Berry provided a sheet of the stamp commemorating the 100 years of flight.
Mark and Janet Knight displayed their ultra-light airplane.
Jeanie Church provided keyboard music.
The museum was open for tours. Guides were Neal and Kathy Brogan, Judy Walker, Esther Elmore, Steve Elmore, Evelyn Darr, Gwen and Norm Taylor.
Workers serving ice cream were Steve and Linda Berry, Bruce and Patty Boyd, Dorothy and Jim Jones.
Pizza Time provided the ice cream (vanilla, chocolate and strawberry), paper products and ice for the drinks. Six people provided two dozen cookies each and there was iced tea and lemonade.
Butch Schroeder of Schroeder's Drive-in loaned us anything we wanted from his store.
Tents were provided by TSM.
