Patriotic Service
  George Zimmerman Carpenter was born about 1730 in Switzerland. He resided in Augusta, Rockingham Co, VA during the American Revolution. He was killed in service during the revolutionary war. He served in Captain Thomas Hamilton's First Virginia Regiment commanded by Colonel George Gibson in October 1777 and October and November1778. He was reported dead in March 1779 by the War Department USA Adj. General's office in Washington D.C.
