Michael Garman who resided in York County, PA, assisted in establishing American Independence while acting in the capacity of Private and Sergeant. He had a creditable military record and served seven years in the Revolutionary struggle. He was taken prisoner by the enemy in the Battle of Brandywine. He had the rank of sergeant, and being a blacksmith by trade, had the entire management of the blacksmith department during the war. |
