Charles Biggs family that moved to Clark Co., IL, in the late
1820's.

Charles Biggs was a son of James and Elizabeth Biggs.  He was born in
Bourbon Co., KY, October 10. 1807.  His siblings were Noah Biggs (m. Nancy
Moore), Mahalah Biggs (m. John A. Hackett), James Biggs Jr., Rebecca Biggs
(m. 1) Jesse Barlow, 2) William Hill), Virgil Biggs (m. 1) Hetty Mills, 2)
Agnes ___), Sarah "Sally" Biggs, Samuel Biggs, Solomon G. Biggs (m. Sarah
Ann Wright).  Most of Charles' siblings lived in Crawford Co., IL.  

Charles' wife was Jane Boyd, daughter of John and Rachel Boyd of North
Carolina and Crawford Co., IL.  Jane's siblings were Hannah (m. James
Lowry), Calvin (m. Melinda Newlin), Abigail (m. Matthew Newlin), Eleanor
(m. Eli Newlin), Nancy (m. Jonathan Newlin), Rachel (m. Michael York), and
Ruth (m. Joshua McKee).  Jane was born Nov. 22, 1807 in Guilford Co., North
Carolina.  

Charles and Jane were married April 4, 1826, in Crawford Co., IL (have
marriage record from county clerk).  They
came to Clark Co. between 1828 and 1832.  Charles ran a huckstering wagon
which later became a general store.  Charles died Sept. 27, 1868, in Clark
Co., and is buried in Good Hope Cemetery, Clark Co., IL.  Jane died Aug. 2,
1872, in Clark Co., and is buried in Good Hope Cemetery, Clark Co., IL. 
Both have probates filed with the Clark County Clerk's office (have copies
of probates and visited Good Hope Cemetery in Clark Co.—saw gravesites)).

Their children were:
1)  Jonathan b.Sept 19, 1826 in Crawford Co., IL.  He married Mary E.
Brookhart, b. Mar. 31, 1828, on Feb 12, 1852, in Clark Co., IL.  He died
Oct 29, 1883, and is buried in Good Hope Cemetery, Westfield, Clark Co.,
IL.  He is given the title "General" on his tombstone.  I know that he
served in the Civil War, probably as a state volunteer.  Mary died April
28, 1904.  She is also buried in Good Hope Cemetery.  Their children were:
    A)  Charles b. Dec. 25, 1852, Clark Co., IL.  He died Sept 9, 1889, and is
buried in Good Hope Cemetery.
    B)  Philena (Filina) b. c. 1855 Clark Co., IL.  She died Aug 29, 1875,
aged 19 years, 6 months, 5 days, buried Good Hope Cemetery
    C)  Joseph b.Nov 1857, Clark Co., IL.  m. Amanda E. Perry(?)

    F)  Lydia b. May 1867, m. John B. Bennett Nov 15, 1885.  She died Sept
14,1930, aged 63 years, 4 months, 11 days.  He was born Sept 1865, IL, and
died Jan 12, 1912, aged 46 years, 4 months, 11 days.  Both are buried in
Good Hope Cemetary, Clark Co., IL.

    G)  Catherine (Katy) b. 1869, Westfield, Clark Co., IL., m. Lyman Swinford
b. 1872.  She died 1949.  He died 1936.  Both are buried in Good Hope

    H) Lillie Jane b. 1872, m. Henry Brookhart Bennett.  She died April 19,
1942, aged 69 years, 27 days.  He died Oct 22, 1941, aged 69 years, 10
months, 23 days.  Both are buried in Good Hope Cemetery, Clark Co., IL.

2) Solomon Biggs b. Nov 26, 1826, IL, m. Paulina (or Perlina) Lee Nov 21,
1852, Clark Co., IL.  She was born Dec 18, 1829, IL.  He died Jan 4, 1874,
Clark Co., IL.  She died May 25, 1893, IL.  Both are buried in Good Hope
Cemetery, Clark Co., IL.  Their children:
    A)  James Alva (known as Alvy) b. Feb 18, 1853, m. Susan Cathryn Thornton
Apr 24, 1887(?), Clark Co., IL.  She was b.July 26, 1854.  He died May 29,
1921.  She died Dec 26, 1917.  Both are buried in Maple Hill Cemetery,
Clark Co., IL.  Their children:

died Apr 20, 1885, buried Good Hope Cemetery, Clark Co., IL.
    D)  Lincoln Rosecranes b. Dec 11, 1860, Clark Co., IL, m. Nevada (Vadie)
J. Swinford Apr 15, 1888.  He died Aug 26, 1928.  She died Sept 9, 1937.

Miller.  He married 2) Catherine Brooks, 1860.  She died Dec 12, 1865.  He

married 3) Sallie Connelly in 1866.  He died Dec 16, 1898, in Parker Twp.,
Clark Co., IL, and is buried in Bean Cemetery, Parker Twp., Clark Co., IL.

5)  James Biggs b. 1843(?) m. Rose Emma Newlin Oct 9, 1878, Hutsonville,
Crawford Co., IL.  He served as a lst Lt. in the Civil War.  Was a prisoner
of war in Andersonville Prison.  He died Oct 20, 1892, buried Newlin
Cemetery, Crawford Co., IL.  Rose is the daughter of Sargent and Jane
Lackey Newlin.  She was born Mar 13, 1858, and died Aug 14, 1954, buried
Newlin Cemetery, Crawford Co., IL.  Their children:
    A) William K. b.  Apr 3, 1879, m. Elnora Beeman Jan l, 1953.  She was born
July 22, 1879.
    B)  Belva Effie b. Oct 24, 1884, m. Jerome Garrard Mar 1906. He was the
son of Finley A. and Rosalie Garrard and was born Oct 25, 1878.  He died
Jan 22, 1954.
    C) James Emmett b. Apr 23, 1880, died July 25, 1943, m. Ethel Collins Jan
20, 1910.  She was born Jan 23, 1886, the daughter of James F. and Clorenda
Collins.  Their children:

6) Adam Biggs b. Aug 1837, Clark Co., IL, m. 1) Nancy
Carrothers Jan 5, 1873, Clark Co., IL.  She died Apr 6, 1874, aged 29
years, 7 months, 23 days, buried Good Hope Cemetery, Clark Co., IL.  He
(possibly) m. 2) Arvilla Pierce, daughter of John and Sarah Pierce.  She
was b. c. 1852, IL.  She died of typhoid fever about 1885.  Don't know
where she is buried. Have not been able to find a marriage record for this
union.  Arvilla appears in the 1880 census living with her mother, Sarah
Pierce, her daughter, Sarah Pierce, and her son, Charlie Pierce.  Don't
know who is Sarah's father.  Charlie later took his
father's surname.  Don't know if he ever went by Pierce or if that was a
quirk of the census taker.  Adam died July 6, 1912, Los Angeles, Los
Angeles Co., CA, and is buried in the National Cemetery there.  He served
in the California Volunteers during the Civil War and was a quartermaster
serving in Yuma, AZ.  He was a miner, gambler, and farmer, and he traveled
in CA, AZ, NM, Mexico, CO, MO, AR, and IL according to his pension papers.
His children:
    A) Alma b. June 5, 1873, Denver, CO.  She m. Mark Engle.  She died Dec 30,
1945, Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., CA.  She came to CA about
1910--probably to visit or care for her father.  She is the daughter of
Adam Biggs and Nancy Carrothers.  No children.
    B) Charles Clifton b. Nov 27, 1879, Martinsville, Clark Co., IL.  He m.
Oct 26, 1911, in Tacoma, Pierce Co., WA, Mary Mensik, daughter of Frank and
Mary Mensik.  She was born Oct 26, 1893, Alder, Pierce Co., WA.  Her
parents had immigrated from what is now the Czech Republic in the 1880's. 
He died July 13, 1952, Eatonville, Pierce Co., WA.  She died Dec. 25, 1968,
Tacoma, Pierce Co., WA.  They had 5 children.
7)  Phidlia Biggs b. Feb 21, 1840, Clark Co., IL.  She m. Andrew Lee Jan

22, 1863, Clark Co., IL.  She died Sept 26, 1868, and is buried Good Hope
Cemetery, Clark Co., IL.  He was b. July 5, 1829, and died Mar 3, 1891.  He
is also buried in Good Hope Cemetery.  He married 2) Isabelle Bearers.Their
children:
    A)  Jennie
    B)  Charles Biggs b. Aug 21 1865, Westfield, Clark Co., IL, m. Fannie
Pearl Bean Jan 15, 1888, Clark Co., IL.  He died Feb 17, 1936, and is
buried in Good Hope Cemetery, Clark Co., IL.  She was born Nov 23, 1869,
Parker Twp., Clark Co., IL, and died Dec 5, 1930, Parker Twp., Clark Co.,
IL.  Her parents were Isaac Newton Bean and his third wife, Sallie
Connelly.  Fannie is buried Good Hope Cemetery, Clark Co., IL.  Their
children:
        1)  Sallie Phydella b. Mar 22, 1889, Parker Twp., Clark Co., IL, m. Dan
Moore Dec 20, 1910.  He was b. 1889 and d. 1959.  They both are buried in
Good Hope Cemetery, Clark Co., IL.  She died Oct 4, 1981, Brownsburg,
Hendricks Co., IN.  
        2) Ursa Bean b. Apr 24, 1892, Parker Twp., Clark Co., IL, m. Wallace E.
Warner, Nov 2, 1914.  She died Mar 20, 1978.
    C)  David b. Dec 1866, m. Lizzie Furry Feb 24, 1892, Clark Co., IL. She
died May 10, 1904, buried Maple Hill Cemetery, Clark Co., IL.  Second wife,
Ora, died Sept 16, 1943.  David d. Jan 4, 1929.  David and Ora also buried
Maple Hill Cemetery.
