Family of John Welsh & Margaret Young

John Welsh, son of William Welsh & Elizabeth Brewer of Jefferson
County, KY, was born 30 Jan 1790. He was married to Margaret “Peggy”
Young, daughter of Andrew Young and Martha of Jefferson County KY.
Margaret died 5 Nov. 1827 and is buried in Walnut Prairie Cemetery,
Clark Co. IN.  On 9 Dec 1829 John married second Margaret Jones in Clark
Co. IL.  He died 21 Jul 1843 and is buried in Walnut Prairie Cemetery,
Clark Co. IL

Known Children:
William Perry born 18 Mar. 1818 Crawford County IL; married Margaret J.
Thixton, daughter of Bluford Thixton and Elizabeth Welton, on 12 Sept.
1843 in Sullivan County IN.  He died 20 Mar. 1893 in Sullivan County IN
and is buried in Pogue Cemetery, Fairbanks, IN.
Lavina G. born 26 Nov 1819 and died 8 Mar 1838 age 1yr 4mo 11da. She is
buried in Walnut Prairie Cemetery, Clark Co. IL
James Monroe born 27 Dec. 1820 Clark County IL; married Eliza Ann
Thixton, daughter of Bluford Thixton and Elizabeth Welton, before 1850
probably in Sullivan Co. IL. He died 10 Sept 1902 in Sullivan County IN
and is buried in Pogue Cemetery, Fairbanks, IN.
Elizabeth born 7 Jan 1823  died 22 Jul 1846  age 23yr 6mo 15da. She is
buried in Walnut Prairie Cemetery, Clark Co. IL
Margaret  born 1 Nov 1827 and died 4 Jul 1829  age 1yr 8mo 4da. She is
buried in Walnut Prairie Cemetery, Clark Co. IL


Marriage Bond & consent
Jefferson County KY
This day the within named  Abner C. Young mad oath before me in my
office as clerk of the county court of Jefferson County, in the State of
Kentucky that the within named Andrew Young is willing to the within
marriage. Witness my hand this 2nd day of August 1811

Know all men by these presents that we John Welsh and Abner C. Young are
held and firmly bound unto the Common wealth of Kentucky in the just and
full sum of fifty pounds current money for the common wealth for the
payment whereof will and surity to be made to our said commonwealth Do
bind ourselves and heirs ________jointly and severally firmly by these
presents Sealed with our seals & dated this 2nd day of Novr 1816. The
condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a
marriage shortly intended to be had and solemnized between the above
bound John  and Peggy Young daughter of Andrew whose consent thereto
hath been proven for which a lisense hath this day been issued from the
clerks office of the county of Jefferson County now therefore if there
be no legal cause to obstruct sd marriage then obligation to be void
else to remain in full force & _____

proven and the said John having given Bond and Security in my office as

clerk of the county court of Jefferson County in the State of Kentucky

John Welsh came from Kentucky by wagon in this year, and settled on
section 12; he was a prominent citizen and the second sheriff of the
county.

About the same time with the Richardson came James C. Hillebert and
family from New York by river, and landed on the site of York Village.
Their first introduction to this new land was characteristic. It was
some days before the family were landed and in the meanwhile they lived
on the boat as they had done on their journey. A single plank led to the
shore, and in an unguarded moment Mrs. Hillebert slipped from this to
the river.  Her outcry attracted the attention of Welsh who sprang to
her rescue. In her fright she grasped him by the neck, and it was only
by dint of vigorous blows that her clasp was shaken off and both were
not drowned. Welsh finally succeeded in grasping her hair and bringing
her to the surface, when both were helped out of the water.

Samuel Prevo being Duly Sworn on his oath says that John Welsh is Dead
and that he Died intestate as he verily believes __ on the 21 of July
1843

State of Illinois   This day came John Chenowitt who on his oath says
Clark County    that William Perry Welsh lived with and labored for John
Welsh who is now deceased (father of said William P. Welsh) for the
space and term of four years four months and three days after the said
William P. Welsh became twenty one years old and that his services is
worth Eight dollars per month after deducting clothes & every service
rendered by father to the best of my knowledge and believe so help me
God.  Sworn and subscribed to before me this 6th day of Febr 1844

Clark County    that James M. Welsh lived with and labored for John
Welsh who is now deceased father of said James M. Welsh for the space of
one year six months & twenty five days after the said James M. Welsh
became twenty one years of age and that his services is worth eight
dollars per month after deduction of clothes & every ____ rendered by
said father to the best of my knowledge and belief so help me God. Sworn
