Seeking the parents and siblings of R. Kenneth
BROWN and wife Mary A.BROWN (both born in Tennessee), who were
married on 11 June 1846, according to the BROWN family Bible.
However, I have been unable to find a record of the marriage
anwhere else, nor do I know Mary A.'s maiden name unless it was
BROWN, as well. They were living in Cairo in 1847 when my
great-grandmother Delila Jane BROWN, their first child was born.
The other BROWN children were the following: Sarah Elizabeth,
Nancy Emily, Thomas H., and Jackson J. On the 1850 Illinois
Census, the BROWNS were living in Clinton County, Illinois, next
door to William HAYS and wife Delilah (CRAWFORD)HAYS. The HAYSES
were married on 10 March 1838, in Alexander County. Were the
BROWNS and the HAYSES related? By 1860, Mary A. BROWN and
children were in Dallas County, Texas, but R. Kenneth BROWN was
missing. The census further indicates that Jackson, the youngest
child, was born in Arkansas. If anyone sees any possible
connection to an Illinois family, please contact me. Thanks.
