WILLS Lookups
Volunteers are NEEDED to do lookups in any format reference source related to
Cook County. If you own or have access to any Cook County genealogy reference
sources, please contact one of the Cook County ILGenWeb
Coordinators to be listed on this page. NOTE: Lookup Sources, along with
copyright dates MUST be included in your LOOKUP OFFER email.
IMPORTANT ~ PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE SECTION BEFORE REQUESTING A LOOKUP!
USGenWeb policy prohibits lookup volunteers from infringing on copyright, so
please do not ask for large quantities of information, information on multiple
people, or Xerox copies of pages from the resources.
Feel free to request a look-up from the listed resources.
- Some of the lookup researchers listed on this page are "VOLUNTEERS" - which means they offer their services at NO charge (not even for copies!!!).
- Some of the lookup researchers listed on this page are "EXPENSE ONLY RESEARCHERS" - which means they offer their services and charge VERY minimal fees for reimbursement of their expenses only. If you find that ANY of these researchers are charging for "time", please let me know so that I can remove them from this list.
These LOOKUP RESEARCHER and VOLUNTEER lists are intended as an aid for those who
cannot hire a professional genealogist... they will not be used as a free
advertising media for personal profit!
If you find that you need to hire a professional genealogist, please check the
Cook County ILGenWeb Genealogy Research page for
Society and Organizations that
might make referrals.
USGenWeb is a non profit entity and Cook County ILGenWeb will not allow any "FOR
PROFIT" distribution of research material.
Please limit your request to one or two names per request.
The subject line of your email will be automatically entered when you "click" on
the researcher's name to ensure that your email is not overlooked or
accidentally deleted. PLEASE do NOT change the subject line!
If you request a lookup, don't forget to THANK your volunteer for his or her
time.

| WILLS/PROBATES - charges are $6 for indexing. Retrieval of the documents takes about one week. Then I have to return to the archive and review the documents. This charge is $10, which includes the review of the file/files and making the copies. Copies are 50 cents per page, fixed charge. If this sounds like a lot to you, please keep in mind that probate can continue for several years, I have to sort through all that documentation, and this archive is in downtown Chicago. |
