Martin Karr: A gardener employed by the Calumet Memorial Park in West Hammond Illinois, Now Calumet City Ill. Met his death accidentally, about 3 pm Jan 8, 1924. When he fell from a ladder on which he was trimming a tree branch. Death was instantaneous and was caused by a broken neck, sustined in the fall. Martin Karr who lived at 311 State Street in Calumet City Illinois. Leaves a wife Centi (Hessler) Karr and 8 children. Martin is proscessed in death, by his Father John Karr and Mother Margaret (Follmar) Karr ( in Germany) Hammond Times Newspaper Jan 9, 1924

Mrs. Anne McCabe Bryant, 64, of 642 Sheridan Sq., died Mar. 15 in St. Francis Hospital after a six weeks' illness. Mrs. Bryant, a native of Chicago, had lived in Evanston five years. She was a 1925 graduate of Northwestern University, where she became a member of Alpha Omicron Pi. She had been active in St. Jerome's Church Medical Mission, Chicago, a group which aided lepers. She is survived by her husband, F. Burton, who retired two years ago after 23 years in the Unemployment Compensation Division of the Illinois Department of Labour; three sons, Peter of Skokie; Richard of Denver; and David, 245 Elmwood Ave.; a daughter, Mrs. Judy Creason of Columbia, Mo.; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday in St. Jerome's Church, Chicago, of which she had been a member 35 years. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.

Hilda Bryant Vanzwoll, 90, of Chicago, mother of F. Burton Bryant of Evanston, died Nov 27 in Illinois Masonic Hospital. Mrs. Vanzwoll was born in Chicago where she was a lifelong resident. She taught singing in her home and was a member of the MacDowell Society, Lakeview Musical Society, the Women's Athletic Club, the American Scandinavian Society, the Artist's Advisory Council, Chicago Historical Society, and the Illinois Federation of Musical Clubs. Besides her son, she is survived by nine grandchildren; 21 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Villa of Buffalo, N.Y., and Mrs. Ruth Villa of Highland, Ind.; and a half-brother Jonte Jernberg of Highland, Ind. The Rev. Andrew J. McDonagh celebrated requiem mass for Mrs. Vanzwoll in St. Nicholas Church Nov 30. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.

At 7:30 o'clock yesterday morning Charles McCabe, an old-time and trusted police officer of the Central detail, died at his home, No. 177 Lincoln avenue. He had been suffering from a stroke of paralysis, and Saturday last received a second shock, which sent him to his bed. Mr. McCabe was 57 years old, and leaves a wife and five grown-up sons. The funeral will occur June 13 at 10 o'clock a.m. The officer joined the police force Nov. 1, 1861, and had been on duty constantly since that time.

CHARLES M'CABE DIES SUDDENLY IN ROGERS PARK Charles R. McCabe, 68 years old, well known in the insurance trade, died suddenly last evening at his home at 1032 Loyola avenue, Rogers Park. He was engaged in the fire insurance business as a member of the firm of McCabe & Hengle. Mr McCabe was a member of the Chicago Board of Underwriters, and was chairman of the fire insurance patrol commission. He was a director of the Associated Catholic charities and a member of the Iroquois and Ridgemoor Country clubs. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday at St. Ignatius Catholic church, with interment at Calvary. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary E. McCabe, and six children, John Robert Jr. (correction - Charles Robert, Jr.), Helen, John B. (correction John V), Marie, and Anna McCabe, and Mrs. Margaret McElliot.
