The History of our Chapter

The DeWitt Clinton Chapter was organized February 22, 1909 at Clinton, DeWitt County, IL. Our name is in honor of the New York Governor, DeWitt Clinton, whom the city and County has also been named. Governor DeWitt Clinton was instrumental in developing the Erie Canal which opened up the trade into the Western front of the United States.

DeWitt Clinton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution serves the communities of DeWitt County, Piatt County and the southern portion of McLean County, Illinois. Our objectives are to promote patriotism, participate in any patriotic endeavors and to the education of our youth.
