Founded in 1890, the Daughters of the American Revolution is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to preserving our country's history, and promoting patriotism and education.  Our chapter was organized October 17, 1938 and named after Judge Samuel Elder, one of the earliest settlers of Saline County, Illinois, and a co-founder of the city of Eldorado.  His father, for whom he was named, served during the American Revolution as a private in Colonel Benjamin Robuck's (the Spartan's) Regiment of the South Carolina Milita.  Samuel Elder, the soldier, was the Revolutionary War ancestor of many of our chapter's founding members.  The Samuel Elder Chapter currently has 40 members.  We'd love for you to join us.
