Bensenville, Illinois

Bensenville, an industrial and residential village in northeastern Illinois, in DuPage county, 18 miles northwest of Chicago. It has a number of industries, including railroad shops and the manufacture of dresses and fluid-control machinery. The Bensenville Arts Council sponsors the following annual events: the Annual Big Band Concert, the Comedy Clubhouse Series, and the Arts Fest. Other venues of entertainment are the Bensenville Theater, the Edge Ice Arenas, and the Bensenville Water Park.

The site of Bensenville was purchased in 1872, and the village was incorporated in 1873. White settlement of the area had begun approximately 50 years earlier. The village is named for Bensen, Germany. It has a village government, with a president of the board and a village clerk. Population: 20,703.
