Glen Ellyn, Illinois
Glen Ellyn, a village in northeastern Illinois,
in DuPage county, 26 miles west of Chicago, of which it is a residential
suburb.Glen Ellyn is the home of DuPage Community College. For
many years the village was called "Stacy's Corners,"
after Moses Stacy. Moses built an inn and tavern there that is
now a historical monument. A lake was formed and was named for
a local glen and Ellyn Hill, wife of one of the village founders;
Glen Ellyn became the community's official name in 1892. Government
is by president and trustees. Population: 26,999.
