RUCKER'S CHAPEL

Rucker's Chapel Cemetery is located in Section 24 of Wilson Township.  Driving directions are: North from County Road 10 onto 1700E about 2 1/2 miles right on road 1450N about 1 mile on right side.  From DeWitt County History: " Rucker Chapel has an interesting history.  A group of Methodists under the influence of Reverend J. C. Rucker, who for thirthy three years had preached in various places in Central Illinois, formed the nucleolus of a new church.  Until 1864, when they built their chapel, they met in the Brittin schoolhouse:  The chapel was rebuilt in 1893.  At one time Rucker's Chapel had the largest membership in DeWitt County".  The earliest burial I can find record of is that of Lavina Johnson daughter of S. & E. d. 12-31-1868 age 5months 14 days.  Thank you to Debbie Champion for providing pictures.  You will find a list of what is in what picture from Debbie below.
