1. Given Name = Water (This is the actual name)
2. Given Name = Hiram R. (Probably born in Lewis City.)
The ALLENS seem to have moved about quite a bit in countryside of northern New York state. It is hard to pin them down. Hiram was a blacksmith.

Who were the parents of John James who came to Virginia in 1650 and patented land in Stafford County, VA in 1670 (the fort lands in the northern neck)?
He seems to have died in that county before 1690 and his widow, Elizabeth, married Thomas Norman. (Above info mostly from a footnote in "The Register of Overwharton Parish," published by George Harrison Sanford King in 1961.)

Searching for descendants of Thomas James, broth of James Carter James. James Carter James was born 12-18-1796, died 6-9-1842, married Martha Lee (Patsy) Tiller 10-26-1820, lived at Harmony Grove, Fauquier County, VA. Tom James "went away and they never heard from him" according to one family source. I have no birth date for him and there were others named Thomas James at the same time in Northern VA.

Tracing descendants of Johann Carl Ludwig (a.k.a. Jon Charles Louis or "Charles") LANDGRAF, born in Goslar, Germany in 1842, and his wife Charlotte, nee SCHIEVERS, born in Tiel, Netherlands in 1846. Both arrived in U.S. on the same ship in 1866 and lived in Muscatine, IA and Springfield, IL before coming to Elgin, where they were by 1900.
