Channing Street Cemetery Sexton's Certificates 1857-1881

Over the past two years volunteers from the Elgin Genealogical Society and the Elgin Area Historical Society reviewed and cataloged thousands of Elgin City records that had been stored in cabinets in the basement of Elgin's City Hall.  The records were microfilmed by IRAD (Illinois Regional Archive Depository) and are available for viewing at the Gail Borden Library, the Elgin Area Historical Society Museum and at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Included in the cabinets were the following list of lot purchasers at the Channing Street Cemetery as well as copies of the Sexton's Certificate issued to the purchaser.  Please keep in mind that the issuance of a Sexton's Certificate does not signify that the purchaser or other family members were buried in the Channing Street Cemetery.
