WYGANDT / TAUBE / BURCHAM
I am looking for information about George Wygandt born in 1833 who
came to IL after serving in the Civil War. He married Sarah Taube. George
had two sisters named Lydia and Barbara who lived in St. Elmo. One of the
sisters married a Meyer. George and Sarah had one child, Nettie who married
Lewis Burcham. Any information about this family would be appreciated.

BLISS
Seeking newspaper documentation of Rev. Alfred Bliss obituary. He did
not actually die, but had the privledge of reading his obituary in the
Vandalia newspaper sometime between the time of 1855-1865. He was a Methodist
circuit rider preacher & was accused of helping slaves escape prior
to or during the Civil War. There was a "hit" out on him & someone
thought he was killed. However, they killed the wrong person--but reported
that Rev. Bliss died. I would like to get a copy of that newspaper account.
I live in GA and do not have the opportunity to do my own research. Where
are the old Vandalia newspapers housed? Is there someone from the Historical
Society or Genealogical Society willing to do look-ups? Please e-mail me.

ARNOLD / MOREY / SMITH / ANDERSON
Looking for parents of Charles ARNOLD. He was born about 1876 maybe
in Fayette or Bond Co. He married Sypha May MOREY in Fayette Co., IL, 24
Mar 1897. They had one daughter, Roberta, who married Eli GREEN. I believe
his family is in Fayette Co., in 1880, he would be a child at this time.

Looking for information on Russel Loomis and his wife Susan Maria Bronson.
Both died before 1850 and left son Charles Tucker. Also daughter Charlotte
who married William Marshall.

I have the following Fayette Co Hawkins...Any connections? John Hawkins
was born about 1782 in TN.. He died 1840's in Pr. East Fork, Clinton Co.,
IL..
AFN:3LDM-C3 John married Polly Carney on Oct. 22, 1816 in Maury
Co, TN.. Polly was born about 1784 in Grainger, TN.. John Hawkins and Polly
Carney had the following children: 1.John Dillard Hawkins was born
Sept. 15, 1816 in TN.. He died Oct 3, 1890. 2.Reuben Turpin Hawkins was
born Oct. 7, 1812 in TN. He died Feb. 1859 in Madison Co., AR. 3.Griffith
Tumey Hawkins was born 1814 in TN. He died Apr. 24, 1854 in Pope Township,Fayette,IL?.
4.Bathsheba L. Hawkins was born 1818 in TN. 5.Joshua Hawkins
was born 1820 in TN.

MATHIAS / BOLT
My grandparents James R. Mathias and Cleta Marie Mathias (Bolt) were
born in Ramsey Il (Fayette County).
James Mathias's parents were John Franklin Mathias and Viola Branham.
He had 4 brothers and 1 sister. Clyde, Geroge Washington "Tim", Leonard,
Bentley, and Shelley. Cleta Marie Bolt's parents were Lewis Crawford Bolt
and Millie Ann Diveley. She had 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Ransom (died
at birth), Lemuell (died at birth) , Eugene, Bertha, Goldie "Tony"(who
married George Washington Mathias), and Leta her twin sister. Her grandparents
were Isaac B. Bolt and Matilda Adeline Radcliff (Matilda was married twice
previously to Hiram Roundtree Cline and Aaron Davis). Issac's father I
think was a Lewis Bolt born about 1813 in Virginia. I would appericate
any further information any one has on either of these familys.

WOOD / WALKER / WOODWORTH / HOBLIT / BREDENKAMP
I am attempting to find out if Ezekiel Wood is buried in Fayette Co.
He may have moved to Fayette Co. with his sons, Anson, Grandison, Enoch,
Samuel Francis, Leah, and David, from Kentucky about 1820 to 1840. Grandison
was the Post Master of Vandalia in 1844. The sons eventually all moved
to Wyoming, Iowa Co., Wisconsin about 1848. Any help is appreciated. dwood@qtm.net

On 7/3/1866, my g-g-grandparents Daniel King and Mary Richardson were
married in Fayette County. Am looking for information on either of these
two families. Daniel was born in IL (county unknown) in 1841. I have no
information on Mary, other than the fact that she died about 1873 in IL.

An E.D.B. SPENCE was listed with Samuel & Abigail SPENCE in the 1850
US census. He was born in 1841. He disappears after that. No relationship
given.

My great grandfather, William Wallace POE (b. 1867, d 1943), and great
grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth WRIGHT, came from Fayette County. I have been
given an outline of their ancestors by a cousin ( who has since passed
away) and I am now trying to "flesh out" this outline.
William Wallace was the son of Fielding Wood POE and Nancy Jane BROWNING
Fielding Wood was the son of Fielden Wood POE and Letty NICHOLSON
Fielden Wood POE was the son of William POE and Charity RODGERS
William POE was the son of William POE and Sally ?
Hope this rings a bell with someone. Would love to correspond with

I have a John CAHILL, born in 1833 in Ireland married 3 times: Katie
Fowler-probably PA, Elizabeth Dukes 1866 (from NC?) Fayette County (divorced
1872-Marion Co.), and Susan (HURT) MULCAHAY in 1880, Fayette Co. John's
wife Katie Fowler died in 1865 in Clinton Co. They lived in Patoka,Marion
Co. Are there any connections with the Dukes and Mulcahay families?

I am looking for any information on the Robinson family. Father was
William N. Robinson Jr. and mother was Urania Anna Roberts. Urania Anna
died in Vandalia, Fayette Co., IL in 1890 and is buried at the Old State
Cemetery. Can anyone give me dates? Can anyone tell me if William is buried
with her? Their children are: Edward, Barbara Ellen, Maggie, Hester, Lizzie,
Hagger, Mahala, Ike, & Tom Charles. Did any of the children go to IL
with them? Edward stayed in IN after he married. But I have no idea on

I would appreciate help finding information on Viola May Sidwells marriage
to Daniel E. Shelton. It would have occured between 1920 and 1922. It would

Need info on Thomas Jefferson Gillespie married to Mary Alice Edmonds.
Thomas was born August 18,1855. The had a son George Wilson Gillespie he
married Cliffie Maude Lansford. He was other children, John,Toney,Emma,
and Polly. I have info on two brothers of Thomas', Toney and Albert Potts.
I'm not sure about the Potts. Thomas was in the 1900 Fayette County, Illinois
census. I can't seem to find anything else on Thomas.

My maternal grandparents were married in 1882 in Fayette Co. Ill. by
Justice of the Peace W.P. Lankford. My paternal grandmother's maiden name
is Lankford. I have no information on that limb of the tree. Any help along
those lines would be appreciated.
