BOLLES / BOWLES / BROWN / DURBIN
Charles S. Durbin (b.1852 OH) married a widow or divorcee named Sophia May (Brown) Bowles. She was born in 1887 in Seminary Twp., Fayette Co.,IL). Her first husband was Lewis S. Bowles,(b.1860 in Seminary Twp., Fayette Co., IL) whom she married in 1879. They had two daughters, Grace Emma Bowles (b. 1885, same location) and Kitty E. (b.1882, same location).
What happened to Lewis S. Bowles??? What happened to Sophia May(Brown)Bowles Durbin???
By 1900, Charley Durbin is listed in the census as a widower, raising these two small girls (spelled BOLLES in his census) as well as he and Sophia's 3 children, William G.(b. 1888), Ines (b.1892), and Victor L (b. 1894).What happened to these little girls parents? Do you have any information?
Grace was my great-grandmother - One more note: My mother remembers an UNCLE GROVER DURBIN-connection unknown-Charley's brother?
Are any of these surnames in your Fayette Co. connections? Please write! Thanks.
