VERA - Henry Willis "Hank" Denton, 69, of Vera died 8:44 a.m. Monday (Jan. 9, 1989) in his home. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial with military rites will be in Sharon Cemetery, rural Ramsey. Memorials: Fayette County Heart Fund.
Mr. Denton was born in Fayette County, son of Sam and Faye Denton. He was a retired contractor, member of Vera Baptist Church, Sharon Township supervisor, past Republican precinct committeeman and a World War II Navy veteran. Surviving are his sons, Ron of Decatur; H.W. Jr. of Mount Zion; Tracy of Ramsey; daughters, Jean Durr of Mulberry Grove; Mrs. Larry (Linda) Davis of Genoa; Mrs. Mike (Paula) Clymer and Mrs. Rick (April) Wells, both of Vandalia; father of Vera; brother, Donald of Ramsey; sister, Mrs.Jack (Mary Louise) Prater of Vernon; 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. One brother, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild preceded him in death.
