Clifford Campbell "Cliff" Denton

Clifford Campbell "Cliff" Denton, 98, of Ramsey died at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 1990, at his daughter's home in Vandalia. Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, with Pastor John Hargett and the Rev. Daniel Bell officiating. Burial was in Sharon Cemetery, Ramsey. Memorials: Fayette County Health Department. Mr. Denton was born Oct. 28, 1891, in Illinois, son of Willis E. and Sarah Crotser Denton. He was a retired farmer and member of the Church of God. He married Nell Nichols on July 20, 1912. She died Oct. 24, 1950. He married Effie Myrtle Trueblood Jackson on July 16, 1961. She died July 16, 1990. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Floyd (Eileen) Elifritz of Vandalia; stepsons, Lora Jackson of Grand Junction, Colo., Carl Jackson of Ramsey, and Mack Jackson of Edinburg; and stepdaughters, Mrs. H. T. (Phyllis) Miller of Vandalia, Mrs. Tom (Vivian) Sarmento of Carmichael, Calif., and Mrs. Albert (Blanche) Hoyle of Ramsey. Two sons, one daughter, three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

John E. Denton

RAMSEY- John E. Denton, 93, of Ramsey died 1:20 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 27, 1988) in Pana Community Hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ramsey. Visitation will be 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Miller Funeral Home, Ramsey, with 7 p.m. rosary. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Ramsey. Mr. Denton was born in Vera, son of William and Sarah Denton. He was a Chevrolet dealer in Ramsey for 59 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ramsey Sportsmen Club, Amateur Trap Shooting Association. He married Margaret Ryan in 1915. She died in 1970. Surviving are his sons, Wayne and Eugene "Gene", both of Ramsey; brothers, Cliff of Ramsey; Sam of Vera; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Three sisters preceded him in death.

Samuel D. Denton

VERA- Samuel D. Denton, 89, of Vera died 8:30 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 7, 1989) in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery, rural Ramsey. Mr. Denton was born in Fayette, son of Willis and Sarah Denton. He was a retired farmer and member of Modern Woodmen of America. He married Mary Faye Calvert in 1919. She died in 1984. Surviving are his sons, Donald of Ramsey; daughter, Mrs. Jack (Mary Louise) Prader of Vernon; brother, Cliff of Ramsey; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. One brother and three sisters preceded him in death.
