Richard J. Hill & Family
Submitted by: Nola Hill Ochs
I would like to submit this photo of my great grand parents, Richard J. Hill and Nancy Jane Webb, North Hurricane Township, Fayette County. They attended the Mount Carmel Baptist Church.
Identification was written by Mrs. Edgar Hill of Nokomis, April 1973.
At the far left in the back row is MANDY HILL and her husband Houston Halford. They have no children yet.
In front of Houston and Mandy is MARY HILL-CRAIG and her two children, one being in the baby buggy. She married Albert Craig, who was a brother of Alzuma Craig Hill.
Next to Houston Halford in the back row is Hannibal Craig, and his wife Lela sitting by Mary and the baby buggy. Lela's two children in the picture are Ray and Vance, being by their parents.
Fourth in the back row is Frank Wilson holding a child in his left arm and his wife,
IDA HILL, sitting in front of him with the plaid dress. He is holding Forest and Elmer is standing.
Fifth in the back row is CORA HILL, who later married Lewis Baldwin.
Sixth in the back row is TILLIE HILL, who later married Bud Williams.
Seventh in the back row is LEE HILL and his wife, Alzuma Craig. They are holding their children, Minnie and Edgar. Alzuma died evidently soon after this picture was taken. She died in 1892,
Next to Alzuma and last in the back row is Hattie (Pope) and in front of her is her husband, ROB HILL. Each one is holding a child. The children are Miltie and Ollie.
In the front row in front of Cora is WILLIE HILL, by his mother.
Next is MRS. RICHARD HILL, then RICHARD HILL, with daughter between them, who is SALLY HILL, the only one living in 1973.
Next to Richard (Dick) Hill is IRA HILL, who married May Cearlock, who was a sister to Otie Cearlock, Bertha Rhodes etc.
Between Ira and Rob Hill is BERTHA HILL, who married Eula Lovegrove, a barber at Ramsey, Ill. Their children are all in Washington state.
There was one more child, LILLIE HILL, who died as a girl.
