correct?
HICKS / ISBELL
Looking for information about Alonzo Hicks. All I know for certain
is that he married Mary Francis Isbell on 18 April 1872. I do not believe
that alonzo is the A.N. Hicks buried in Little Hickory. According to his
wife's, Mary Hicks, death certificate she was buried in
Liberty Cem and not in Little Hickory next to Alonzo. There is also
confusion on the Mary Hicks stone in Little Hickory. It gives her date
of birth as 28 March 1955. I believe that it should be 1855. However the
Mary Isbell that Alonzo married was born on 1 March 1853. Any help on this
matter would be greatly appreciated.

ECKMAN / SWANK
I have a gr-gr-grandmother who was married in Vandalia on May 1834..Wilhelmina
Eckman and Aaron Swank. Aaron was born in Muskingum, Ohio.
I have never been able to find much on Wilhelmina until another researcher
found her marriage information. I visited Vandalia last summer to
see if I could find her parents. I only found one other Eckman.
That was J.F. Eckman, listed on
poll books in 1824. He also was the keeper of the tavern in the
first hotel built by Hollman. I then visited the museum and found the story
about Ernst and Hollman. I am really wondering if Wilhelmina's family
came over with Ernst. There is no reference to any Eckman on any
census index. I checked those out at the library. At the museum,
I found that several of the colonists died in the first year after arriving
at Vandalia - so her family could have died and she lived with another
family - Later censuses of her state that she was born in Switzerland and
I know the colonists came
from Hanover, Germany, so that makes one think she did not come with
them. The other researcher said that family legend states that her father
was a minister. Wilhelmina was married by the Presby. minister, W.K. Stewart
- I am writing to the Presby church and see if they have any additional
info in their records - the lady at the museum called and the secretary
said she would search their records.
By the way, the lady who was head of the museum was fantastic - she
tried in every way to help me.
I am wondering if the passenger list has ever been found and if so,
has anyone seen one and are there any Eckmans on the list? I appreciate
any help anyone can give me.
