HALL / SILENCE
I am trying to find out something about my greatgrandfather and greatgrandmother's
family. My greatgrandfather, Syrus Edward Hall was born in Herrick,
Illinois 18 February 1873. I do not know his father's name.
One of his daughters told me she thought it was Thomas, but she was not
sure. His mother's maiden name was Silence. I think she was
called "Tillie", so maybe Matilda? I checked Shelby County for a
birth certificate for my greatgrandfather and could find none. I
checked also
for any record of him in the 1880 census records. I know he lived
in Taney County, Missouri at the time of the 1990 census, but I don't know
when he moved there. Maybe he had already moved at the time of the
1880 Illinois census. Any help would be appreciated.

GERKE / SCHERER
I am looking for a record of the marriage of my gr grandparents.
Henry GERKE and Christina SCHERER They moved from Fort Wayne, IN about
the same time they married and I have
not been able to find their marriage record in Fort Wayne. They were
in Fort Wayne during the 1860 census. I think they must have married
about 1866.
Their first child, Julia Ann Gerke was born in Wilburton
Twp, Fayette
Co. IL on 10 Jan 1867. Is her birth record available there?
Their second chid, Charles Willliam Louis Gerke
was born in Wilburton Twp on 9 Nov 1868. Is there a birth record
there?
The third child was probably also born there in
1870. Her name was Louise Gerke. Any birth record?
The fourth child, Louis C. Gerke was born there
on 6 May 1872. Is there a birth record there for him?
The fifth child was born there, Matilde Gerke, on
26 Sep 1875.
They must have returned to Fort Wayne in 1876 because
my grandmother was the next child, Anna Sophia Gerke, and she was born
in Fort Wayne on 31 Oct 1877.
The family appears on the Wilburton Twp census for 1870. They were
Lutherans. Henry's brother also lived in Wilburton Twp, Fayette Co. at
the same time: John F. Louis Gerke. He stayed longer and married
Augusta Schukar. Later he returned to Ft. Wayne also.

IRWIN / HOAR
IRWIN FAMILY Looking for descendants of three IRWIN-Hoar families who
settled in Fulton Co. IL in the mid-1850’s, having relocated from Ohio:
Jesse Kersey Hoar (MARY I. IRWIN), Job Hoar (SARAH IRWIN ), Thomas Hoar
(MARGARET IRWIN). In abt.1859 Jesse & Mary moved to FAYETTE CO. IRWIN
brothers: ARCHIBALD, ISAIAH, WASHINGTON. Near the end Mary lived with relatives
in Fulton Co. (Cuba?), died in 1891and is buried there. Jesse died
earlier and is buried in Fayette Co., I believe. Would like to get in contact
with any descendants to
establish family ties, and also hoping to find out the names of the
parents of the above IRWINS. I understand there is a large Irwin family
association of some type in Illinois. Thank you for reading this and for
your help. Please e-mail me directly.

THOMPSON / BROWN
We are searching for the father of an Abraham Thompson (b.ca1776; m.1796;
d.1819) of Illinois from Bourbon, Montgomery, and Bath Counties, Kentucky.
Abraham Thompson, born in Virginia, married an Elizabeth (or Betsy) Brown
in 1796 listed in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Our great-great grandfather,
Judge Benjamin Ward Thompson, of Fayette County, Illinois was born in the
Bourbon (Bath County area), Kentucky. From the Bath County (Kentucky) Connections,
we have seen several notes involving Licking River, Thompsons and the Brown
family, and Abraham Thompson is listed in the original Bath County history.
Elizabeth Brown, daughter of Hezekiah Brown was originally from Culpeper
County, Virginia. Hezekiah Brown eventually settled in Franklin County,
Kentucky, and there is some indication he owned the land where the present
day capital of Kentucky is located. We believe Hezekiah Brown (I)'s father's
name was James Brown of Virginia. Family legend holds: Following the War-of-1812
and soldier release in 1815, Abraham Thompson along with his wife Elizabeth
Brown formed a wagon train of mostly family members. They left Bath County,
Kentucky in 1815 and arrived near Carlyle, Illinois in 1816. Hezekiah Brown
(II) eventually joined his sister, Elizabeth Brown (Thompson) around 1833,
in Fayette County, Illinois, and they are buried in or near Vandalia, Illinois.
The large Abraham Thompson family is stationed out of Vandalia and has
had a reunion today there about every 2 years. Should you have additional
information on Abraham Thompson's lineage, please drop us a line.
