This is Fayette County, IL.  NEW OBIT pages
Introduction!

Margie Whitney sent me an e-mail, some time back, regarding the Obits she saw in her newspaper every day.  She said, "Hey, could we put the new Obituaries in the Fayette County pages?"  Her thoughts being that those would be obituaries already there for those searching their family roots, generations down the road.  It might help some right now, but her main idea was that it would help later much more.  Since we have this little thing called 'Copyrights'  and the 'Right to Privacy Act'  I wasn't sure what could be done.  As it turned out, it could be done ONLY if the newspaper gave their permission, OR if the Obituary was not copied word for word.  So, Margie said she would re-word, and just get the 'facts'.  Well, that took care of the 'Copyrights' problem.  Now for the 'Right to Privacy'!  She omitted any detailed information of the surviving relatives, unless those relatives gave their permission.  Margie has been sending those Obits ever since.

I had a time getting these up, and on any kind of index.  At first I thought about putting them up in the Illinois Archives.  Which I think is still a good idea, but only if Margie agrees for them to go there.  Only problem with that is that you would not be able to link from the Index to the specific Obituary.  So, I've set up an index and have been putting them on the Fayette County site.  It seems it is actually helping a lot of people right now with their genealogy searches.

Anyway, due to me taking on more to do in the USGenWeb Projects, I've found myself a little pressed for time to do all of this.  I think it will run a little smoother now, and maybe won't take me so long to get them on the pages, and indexed.

SO...without further adeau....go see what we have!
