Charles Richard Rockwell, 81 resident of West
Madison St. died at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 5 at Fayette County Hospital
where he had been a patient nine days. Son of William Rockwell and
Kate LAKIE Rockwell, he was born Feb 10, 1876 in Arkansas, however he had
been a resident of
Fayette County 70 yrs. In 1898 at Dudley,
Mo. he was united in marriage with Deligah May Oary who preceded him in
death April 1, 1940.
Surviving are a daughter , Mrs Clara Oldham and a son Guy both of Vandalia; a son Raymond of Brownstown; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Two daughters, four sons and two sisters, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 8 in Vandalia Pentecostal church, by the pastor Rev. J. M. Reeter. Burial in Mulberry Grove cemetery. Beery and Hohlt Funeral service in charge.

She was united in marriage to Samuel FULLER who
preceded her/in death. To this union three children were born. Two
children, Earl/and Violet, preceded her in death. One son Arthur
Fuller survives her.
She later united in marriage to Charles Wright
in 1906. to this union four children were born, namely, Ira, Floyd, Orville
and Fern. Floyd preceded her in death.
She was united in marriage to Eugene Engle on
Sept. 24, 1932. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, four children,
six grandchildren, one brother Charlie Oary and one sister, Mrs. May
Rockwell. She also leaves nine stepchildren
and a host of other relatives and friends. She confesed her faith
in Christ early in life.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Monday
afternoon from the Penetecost church of this city with Rev. J.H. Reeter
officiating. Burial was in the Vandalia Old Cemetery.
