***CONNECTIONS, VOLUME I***
145 pages...Every name index...$20.00 ppd.
A collection of abstracts of land in Franklin and surrounding counties. An Abstract is a history of a parcel of land, beginning when it was deeded from the government.
These records may give wills; lists of heirs and their location; name of spouse; who the property was sold to; and other countless things. These records begin with a very large tract of land and as parcels were deeded off, reduced down to perhaps only a lot in town. So that as each abstract progresses, the owners and history changes. Compare this to the cutting of a tree, then tracing the destination of each individual board.
This book could be very helpful when searching for individuals or family members; lost relatives and for obtaining an accurate list of siblings. Volume I has abstracts of Franklin, Early Williamson, and Hamilton Counties in Illinois.

**UNION FUNERAL HOME RECORDS, FRANKLIN CO., ILLINOIS**
*** 1919-1924***
174 pages...Every Name Index...$25.00 ppd.
As we came into the twentieth century, coal was the major source of heat, and Coal was King! Men, and even children were needed to work the mines. There were no safety standards, only the need of the working class to earn a living. Families came from all over the world to work the coal mines in Southern Illinois. The coal mines owned the homes where the miners lived; and stores where they shopped.
The United Mine Workers held their first meeting in 1890 with the sole purpose of protecting the coal miner. It was our fathers, grandfathers, and great grandfathers, these United Mine Workers, who built "Union Hospital" in West Frankfort, Illinois, to care for the sick miner and his family, and these same United Mine workers who started "Union Funeral Home" in 1918. More often than not, the record of burial listed in this book, can not be found in other cemetery records. Whether eroded by time or lack of money to erect a stone, these may be the only records available.

***VANTREASE FUNERAL HOME RECORDS, 1963-1965***
37 Pages...Every Name Index...$10.00 ppd.
This book contains many first generation immigrants. Most were coal miners. Often the neighbors could not pronounce their names and very often their names were shortened or changed. When available, these records give both spellings. Many records give the country where the individual was born and parents and the city where they lived within that country.
This book also contains many people who came here from other States to work the coal mines. Often, their parents names and those of other family relatives are given. Place of burial and dates of birth and death are given, when available. If you have a "lost ancestor" from this area, you may find him here!
