C
an't find your ancestor's marriage from the early years of Gallatin County? It might just be lost.
Valeria Phillips Gildehaus, compiler of Gallatin County Marriages, 1830-1858, has prepared this list of Gallatin County marriages that you won't find in the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index. The following information comes from the original marriage bonds, not simply the marriage registries in the county clerk's office. The original bonds in question are now in the Illinois Regional Archives Depository in Carbondale, Illinois.
I just realized that about 90 early Gallatin County marriages that I have in
my personal database do not appear to be listed elsewhere. (I haven't
checked for all of these, but the ones I checked were not listed.) These
records are from the original marriage bonds located at IRAD in Carbondale
and are not on the Illinois State Archives marriage index or in the
previously published book of Gallatin County Marriage records 1830-1858.
