I would like to share info on PETTIGREW, DILLARD, HISE, HANNAH. James Montgomery Pettigrew moved from SC to IL around 1811 and settled in Gallitan around 1813. His son, Isaih married Mary Dillard and had the following children: Martha Ann m. John Wesley Hise; Rachel Catherine m. Alexander M. Hannah; James Montgomery m. Dorcas Isabella Shields.

I am looking for a Joseph Morris and is wife Elizabeth Tuttle Morris. They came to Ill from TN with their children- Wliiam C; Lucinda; Alfred; Mary A; Eliza and Jesse. These childre were born from 1847 to 1857. William C married Sarah (Sallie)Parker and from what I have been able to research Lucinda and Eliza married the same man (McDonald Salin,Sadlin,Soulen or other spellings). I placing Lucind's death at about 1876 as McDonald married Eliza in 1877. He married Lucinda in 1870. Lucinda had three children; Nancy, William and Maggie. My great uncle, Elmer Brown, was shot and killed by the Gallatin County Sheriff in Ridgeway in July of 1921. I found a reference to this incident in the Zeigler newspaper. My uncle was from Royalton IL originally. I would like further information on the circumstances if possible.

ROE, FRANCIS SAMUEL I am trying to find the birth date, death date, parents of, and location of birth of my Great Grandfather, Francis Samuel Roe. His son's death certificate (Samuel Francis Roe, 1941) states that Franklin Roe was his father and Franklin was from Georgia. My father (Bernard C. Roe)had a baptismal name of Francis and since his father had a middle name of Francis, I feel Francis may be the correct name instead of Franklin. I am searching for more information regarding the family of Andrew SCANLAND b. ABT 1812 ILL d.BEF 1870 Gallatin Co. His wife may have been Elmira or Anna MCGUIRE? b. ABT 1822 ILL. His children were: John W. SCANLAND b. 11/1846 Shawneetown; Susan Margaret SCANLAND b. 7/1848 Shawneetown; and Allen Colvard SCANLAND b. 7/1850 Shawneetown. Upon his death sometime between 1860 and 1870, the children ended up in Ohio and later settling in Clark Co., Oh, (Madison TWP). Andrew may have been the brother of the prominent William SCANLAND and son of Baldwin SCANLAND. My findings have been very sketchy and my details are few. Any information at all would be extremely helpful. The son John, is my GrGrUncle, brother-in-law to my GrGr Grandfather.

Curious as to what line of Barnums resided in Gallatin county. Any relation to other Barnums of Illinois: Joseph, Mary, Augustine, Samuel, Timothy, Mamie, MARVIN??? I am researching my great-great-grandfather, John MAYFIELD and his family. He appears in the 1860 Gallatin Co. census with his wife Mary. John was born in Rutherford Co., TN in 1828. John served in the 131 IL Inf during the Civil War. He married Louise Midgett PARKER in Gallatin Co. in 1864. John died there in 1876 and is buried in Gallatin. John's son Logan MAYFIELD was a town marshall in Ridgway at one time. There are some older MAYFIELD's listed in Gallatin and may be related. I'm looking for info on Peter MEYER. Peter was born in 1852 in Germany and moved to Illinois sometime before 1884, when his son Fred Meyer was born. Along the way he must have lived in Pennsylvania for awhile; his wife Julia A. was born there in 1843. Peter died in 1914; Julia died in 1916; both are buried in Palestine #2 Cem. in Omaha, IL. Fred Meyer lived in Ridgway; he was married to Rebecca Mills. Fred had several sons: Leslie Ray, Dale, Curtis, Emil and Ivan, and one daughter: Agnes. Fred died in an accident at the flour mill he owned in Ridgway in 1925. Leslie Ray and Ivan both died young. Emil later moved to Vienna; Dale stayed in Gallatin Co. and married Mary Catherine Anderson. They lived in Omaha. I've posted here before and had no luck, but perhaps someone out there knows something about Fred and his parents. Did Fred have any brothers or sisters? Did Julia A. Larue have family in Gallatin Co., or did both Peter and Julia leave their families ba! ck in Pennsylvania? Any info you have would be appreciated.

I have some information on Endicott , Grubbs, Sisk and Brassets who emigrated from IL to ND around 1900. There were some others who move from there to this area and I have access to a 1910 county atlas that shows many homesteaders property. I wonder if someone with an index for 1880 Illinois census/Gallatin Cty/New Market Precinct would do a look-up for me. I can access the census on-line at Ancestry.com but hoped a page# would help instead of searching all the pages! I would like to know if a THOMAS, JOHN OR MARGARET NALLY/NALLEY is listed in the census. Thomas died June 2, 1880. I have his death certificate. The census was taken on June 11, 1880.
