I believe she had a brother named
FRANCES(FRANK) also.
Mary would have been born abt. 1850.
I
would like to find her date of death. It would be 1892-1895.
She
is suppose to be buried at (GOLD HILL)? Unable to verify this, it is
possible she is buried at Hogan Cemetary.
In 1979 my father
took me to an area that was suppose to be GOLD HILL, but we were unable
to locate anything that would indicate she is buried there.
William's mother is buried at HOGAN CEMETARY.
Her name is AMANDA
CLARK.
Her maiden name is PARROTT. She married THOMAS CHARK in
1865.
AMANDA married BRITTON H. YARBER 23 DEC 1857 in HARDIN CO.
IL.
BRITTON died 3 JUN 1863 in POPE CO. IL. I am unable to find
burial for him.
He served in the 31st IL Inf. under John A. Logan.
His brothers George R., John C., and Larkin B. YARBROUGH served in
the 131st IL Inf.
Daniel Willis is listed as the guardian for
William in Gallatin CO., and Daniel also served in the 131st IL
Inf.
Is it possible Daniel knew his brothers or that he was
somehow related? BRITTON'S father was JOHN YARBROUGH from NC and was
born abt. 1810. His mother's name was MARY, but am unable to find her
maiden name. It appears JOHN'S father may have been LARKIN and his
mother NANCY SLAUGHTER.
LARKIN would have had 5 daughters and 2
sons.
One of LARKIN'S daughters married Samuel McKINNEY and later
EDMOND KIRKPATRICK BROWN.
It is possible one married a SMALLWOOD
and another a STUBBLEFIELD.

proof that Daniel Kiser is the son of Phillip Kizer of Sumner Co, TN.
Daniel married Jane Blair in Sumner then dissappeared. Daniel Kiser is
found in 1830 living next to the Dugger family. Jane's sister married a
Dugger and another sister married a Edwards who is also a neighbor.
Looks like Daniel's line ended up with the Kiser spelling. I had
exchanged an email with William D. Kiser at one time but the email

by my grandmother. She said that she was born in "Polk" county but she
must have meant Pope County. There is a Polk Prescinct in Pope County.
Both of these counties have yeilded no results so I am trying out
Gallatin County since Saline.Pope were formed from Gallatin, I think.She
said that she was born in Stonefort. I have found a Stonefort in Saline
County. My great grandparents were Ellanora Smith, daughter of
Jiles/Giles Smith and Lavada Farrell/Ferrell. They had the following
children: Ellanora, Katie, Minnie, Mima, Lottie, Guesta, Sam and Schyler.
Ellanora married John Ingram sometime around 1885-90. He was the son of
Frank Ingram and his mother was a Hudgens. Ellanora and John had the
following children: Fred, Della, Dessie, Clyde and Claude (girl and boy
twins) and Opal who was born on Nov 12, 1903. Opal's father, John, died
before she was born, supposedly dragged to death by a team of mules. If

on the Harper Family in Gallatin and White Counties in Illinois:
William Charles Harper (b Sept 1841 in Tennessee) married Margaret
(sometimes spelled Margret) O. Porter (b. Sept 1844 in Illinois) on
November 8, 1864--in White County.
Both of William's parents were born in Tennessee--and both of Margret's
parents were born in Illinois.
They lived in White County - on a Farm in Heralds Prairie Township,
Illinois; bordering Gallatin County
They had six children
Charles A (b. 1865)
John A (b 1866)
Lewis E (b. 1870)
Jesse T. (b July 1874)
Simeon A (b. 1877 )
Annie (Born August 1883)
Charles married Clora Bryant in White County on 10/25/1893
John A. Harper married Sarah Ackley on 4/22/1888 in White County
and Lewis E. Harper married Jennie E. Galloway on 3/27/1890 in White
County
Simeon may be the Simon Harper who married Della Garrett on 7/3/1898 in
White County
The 1900 Census showed that one of Margret's children died by that year.
I know that Annie and Jesse T. were still living in 1900--so one of the
other four boys passed away before August, 1900 when the census was
taken.
Jesse T. Harper (who went by Thomas J. Harper) married Minnie Davis
Hunter on April 23, 1896) Thomas and Minnie lived with William and
Margret for their first few years of marriage and worked the farm. Mary,
their first child and only daughter, was born and died between 1896 and
1899. W. Ottis was their first son, he was born on August 23, 1900. After
1900 and before 1910, Thomas and Minnie moved to Gallatin County
Illinois--Omaha Township. In Total they had seven boys and the one girl:

E. Olen Born 1904
Oscar Born August 15, 1906 died April 29, 1992

After the 1910 Census, it appears Thomas and Minnie moved. I think that's
when they moved to the Mt. Vernon Area.
Margret died from pneumonia in the left lung on February 6, 1902. The
funeral home that handled her death was C. E. Barnes in Norris City, and
she was buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery (which I think there are two of
them--one in Gallatin County and one located inside Edwards County; this
county borders White County) Margret's doctor was W. E. McGurrie from
Cottonwood, Illinois
We are trying to trace William's family back into Tennessee. Possibly
Thomas' brothers and sister may have some information; if we can locate
that side of the family. I'm still trying to gather information about a
Harper reunion that was supposedly held in Mt. Vernon around July 4th.
Jess Thomas Harper was my grandfather. He married Edith Mae Young and
they lived in Fairfield, Illinois. They had one son: Olen Ray Harper

According to my grandfather (his grandson)'s family bible, James L.'s
date of birth was 27 Aug
1833. He is listed on Civil War Muster Roll as being born in Gallatin
Co., IL.
He married Mary Jane Mitchell, 2 Feb 1854 in White Co. (Their marriage
license/certificate does
not list any information other than bride and groom.)
They had three sons:
Uriah Dunavan, b. 5 July 1857, d. 7 Sep 1859
John Davis Dunivan, b. 14 Feb 1860 (have no further information on this
son)
James Hamilton Dunivan, b. 27 Apr 1862, White Co., IL, d. 6 Dec 1939
James L. was listed 16 Aug 1860 in Gallatin Co., IL census as farmer, age
27, place of birth:
Illinois; listed with wife Mary and son Davis, 6 months. I cannot find
him in any other census.
Details of Civil War Service: Private, Company B 56th IL Infantry (White
Co., IL). Listed on
Muster Roll when he enlisted 6 Nov 1861 in White Co., as a 28 year old
farmer; Nativity: Gallatin
Co.; Residence: White Co.; mustered 27 Feb 1862. Shawneetown, IL
I ordered copies of both his service records and pension records, but
there was no information there
that I did not already have.
He died when the steamship General Lyon caught fire and sank off the
shore of Cape Hateras on
31 Mar 1865, along with about 600 other people. He was on his way home,
having been discharged
from the service.
I have detailed lineage of son, James Hamilton Dunivan, which I will be
willing to share.

IL census says that Isavilla, born in Missouri, was 37 years old and
married to Jonathan Petit Combs, born in Kentucky. A Patrick Dolan, who
later settled in White County, was in Gallatin Co. around 1838, but he is
said to have come into the country in 1835, many years after Isavilla was
born. Are the dates wrong, and was he actually the father of
Isavilla?

Waregem-Belgium at about one mile from the US Flanders Field military
cemetery. As I am interested in the history of World War 1, it’s only
normal that this cemetery has my special attention. I started to write a
book about the soldiers buried here. So I am looking for as much
information about all those men. I think that would be a great tribute
for them, who gave their lives for the freedom of our country.
In the cemetery is one soldier called Sherman Holt. He was from Omaha,
Gallatin County. He was killed in action on November 1st., 1918 and
served with the 37th Division. Should anyone have information about him
or some history, addresses, photo etc … ?
