Reasearching surname REID, ca. 1860, probably in residence in (Old) Shawneetown for 3-6 years (possibly Saline Mines)
: Robert Reid, b. 1798 Scotland m. Anne (Wylie) Reid b.1798 Scotland
Robert Reid, b. ca 1821, Scotland m. Elizabeth Campbell b. ca 1831 Scotland
David Reid, b. 1828, Scotland,d. 1896 Saline Mines, IL, m. Agnes
Sherrer(?) b 1831, Scotland, d. 1867 Saline Mines, IL

Apparently had their own family cemetery on a hill which they later donated to the town; David ran general store in Saline Mines; owned 2 steamboats (Hoyle & Louisa); had sawmill as well

Are there later records of their living in this area and/or leaving area. Living descendants? Any other interesting information

Searching to ______Greer, who married Martha______, she was born 1801 in S.C. Census info. gives the following: Martha Greer, b. 1801 S.C. with sons, William M. born 1826 in Tenn., and Francis M. born 1830, Ill. My line is thru F.M. Greer. It is his father that I am looking for. Do not know for sure, but believe F.M. Greer was born Gallatin Co.,Ill. Can anyone help? Research makes me believe that it is possible that the father is either an "Abraham", son of "Asa" or "Aquilla". I have this line on my father's side, which ended up Hudson, and the missing man is on my mother's side, which ended up Durst. Thank you. E.A. Rose.

I certainly would appreciate any help with my Barnet ADCOCK. He was in Gallatin Co by 1840 and 1850. I have lost track of him after that time. His wife was Judith. I believe that he died in said county. Do you have any will or probate reference books that show any ADCOCK families?
Thank you for your time.

My GGGG Grandfather George Flynn(Flinn) was living on the Ohio River in Livingston Co.,Kentucky from around 1800 until the late 1820's. He acquired 366.23 acres in Gallatin Co.Illonios near Shawneetown(Shawanoe Town) while he was in the War of 1812. I beleive that where he lived in Kentucky and the land he bought in Gallatin Co was separated only by the Ohio River. George Flynn built a ferry across the Ohio River. He applied for a liquor license, have not been able to locate this. The road on the Illinois side is called Flynn's Road. I also believe his two older sons Obadiah and William were living on this land in Gallatin Co. and maybe also running the ferry across the river. Obadiah married Polly Hughes daughter of Thomas and Nancy Hughes. Obadiah died some where around July 1826. If anyone has any information concerning George Flynn(Flinn), Obadiah and Polly, Obadiah's death record or where he is buried, probably somewhere near Shawneetown or William and the Flynn's Ferry Crossing please contact me.
