John Watkins, aged about 70 years, died Sunday morning (2 Jan 1870).

Mrs. Ellen E. Carlock, wife of Calvin Carlock, died Thursday night (13 Jan 1870).

 

29 Jan 1870:

John Kennel was murdered by Thomas Rodgers at Grand Tower, Jackson County, 1 Apr 1869. Both

were African Americans.

 

5 Feb 1870:

James Brady, son of Judge M. Brady, aged 33 years, died Tuesday (1 Feb 1870).

Emma Tripp, wife of Housten Tripp, aged 18 years, was burned to death last Sunday (30 Jan 1870).

Lorenzo Nimmo, aged 16 years, died at Mt. Carmel Friday (4 Feb 1870).

Reuben Smiddy was recently killed over a card game at Lakeville, Stoddard Co., Mo.

Joe Kinson was recently killed in Missouri.

Lovlis D. Penninger, aged 18 years, died of scrofulous tuberculosis 9 Jul 1870.

1871).

John Chirney, aged 78 years, died of gastritis five miles east of Anna 19 Jan 1871. He was born in

Bohemia.

Thomas Tripp, aged 40 years, died of pneumonia five miles west of Jonesboro 29 Jan 1871.

Jacob Cruse Sr., aged 72 years, 5 months, 4 days, died of typhoid fever three miles south of Jonesboro 20
