"We are indeed sorry to hear of the death(Tue. Feb 1st) of John Mott last
week.It was reporte that he was up and about and went to look after his
domestic affairstoo soon, and took a relapse which resulted into double
pneumonia, that soon terminated fatally. It is also reported that he had two
or three thousand dollars in money in the house and hid about the premises
that no one knew anything about, until he disclosed the fact on his death bed.
The report is so unreasonable ato lead to the belief that it has been greatly
exaggerated."

measles while in service which caused his death. He was son of Asa Decker jr.
of this county."
