(As listed in the "Hardin County, IL Deaths 1884 -1919" published
by Marion Lavender Reynolds-1995)
The Cemetery is located on Camp Cadiz Road in Hardin County, IL.
The entrance is clearly marked with a sign "Watters Cemetery" .
The actual cemetery is a few hundred feet up a small dirt road from Camp Cadiz Rd.
I visited the cemetery August 5, 1999 for the purpose of cataloging it.
It is well maintained and in quite good condition.
Only the markers of JG Waters and Charles Waters are currently worn and nearly
unreadable. All others are in good condition.
Where relationship is "unknown" it means I have not yet determined an
exact association with others in the cemetery.
NOTES:
SS indicates the names are on the same stone.
In some previously published inventories, J.G. Waters is listed as J.C. Waters.
Aging of the stone could account for the confusion as to whether it is
a "C" or "G", however, it is known his name was actually Jonathan Grant Waters.
It may be an old style "G" which caused confusion.
The spelling of Waters and Watters are shown just as they appear on the stones.
No obvious reason for variance in spelling of names between
brothers / fathers / sons / husbands / wives.
The spelling changes many times in family and official county records.
Dates are as they appear on stones. However, it is known that
Charley Watters was born 1900 not 1901. This stone was placed many years
after his death by a nephew who stated he "guessed at it".
Margaret Sutton Waters was first wife of Garland P. Waters.
She is buried in Love-McPherson Cemetery, Hardin County, Illinois.
