On the sign up chart below, I've tried to split the groupings into approximately 10 pages per sign up (you may sign up for more than one group of 10 pages).  Some groupings will have less than 10 pages of actual text due to illustrations and blank pages or sections which have already been partially completed; other groups will have more complex text or tables (as noted on the index)

Some groupings will be "split up" with more than one volunteer falling within the 10 page spread to accomodate folks who want to help who have copied portions of the book in the past for their own use.  If you have one or two pages copied and you want to do those (or already have) please let me know.

Those transcribing the biographical listings may want to double check the biographies already posted on the website as I know a few of them came from this book.  You may want to copy and paste those to save keystrokes and just proofread them to make sure they are exact.

Type the data exactly as it is, even if you KNOW it is wrong --we can add correction "notes" to it later.  If the error is a glaring spelling error (there are some) or date which is inverted or not making sense, just put (sic) (means  "as written) after it and keep going.  This will alert the reader that it is that way in the book but clearly appears to be an error. If possible, get a family member or friend to "proofread" your info.  PLEASE number each page.

No web page experience necessary on this one as I will need to do that part to make sure all the pages look the same throughout the book.  A Word document or plain text is fine and easily attached to an email. Please scan your files for viruses--I will scan on my end as well but I'm very leary after losing all my mail to a virus TWICE.  (I've got some major virus scanning going on now and so far, so good)

Those who do not have time or typing ability who wish to assist with the project but have access to the book might consider offering to make copies for others to transcribe.
