ANNIE LAURA
GREEN (1856 – 1904)
Annie
Laura Green was born near Raymond, Hinds Co., MS. in Nov. 1856. Her mother was Lucy, her Father, Sam
Green. They were enslaved by John
Harris of Liberty Grove, Hinds County, MS.
Lucy died during the Civil War.
Sam went away to the army and was never heard from again. At six years of age Annie went to work in
the home of Isabella Tillman, where she remained until her marriage.
(Note: A Sam Green died 28 June 1917, age
about 75, in Liberty Grove, Hinds Co., MS.
On Kingston Road at Mr Friers(?) Place. He was a farmer. He would have
been born about 1842; Annie's father was born about 1833.)
Annie
married Henry Miller Craft on Oct. 10. 1877 in Raymond, MS. They had four
children: William, Paul, Laura, and Cleveland.
Henry served as minister in the AME Church in Raymond, MS. About 1890, the family moved to Natchez, MS,
where Henry converted to the
Methodist
Episcopal Church.
Annie
died May 26, 1904, of TB, and is buried in the Natchez City Cemetery, Fields
Plat, Addt.
