Welcome |
| The
Jacksonville
Area Genealogical and Historical Society was organized in 1972
and
incorporated in 1976 as a non-profit organization to collect data of a
genealogical and historical nature. Most of our records cover
Morgan
County, Illinois and other nearby counties such as Cass, Scott,
Sangamon,
Menard, Macoupin, Greene, Adams, Brown, Schuyler and Pike. We
also
have some miscellaneous material on states, mainly Virginia and
Kentucky.
We publish a Quarterly (click here for sample qtrly index) four times a year in March, June, September and December. Yearly dues (January 1-December 31) are $20 if you become a member while visiting our library, and $22 if by mail, to cover postage. Membership is open to any person, regardless of race, national origin, sex, age, or religion who subscribes to the purposes of the Society and pays annual dues. Our society has members nationwide and from a few foreign countries. Society members receive a Quarterly Publication featuring Genealogical and Historical Data from the area, often materials discovered, transcribed and published for the first time. Surnames are listed in the Quarterlies, and queries are accepted. Our
society
library
is
located
at 416 South Main Street, Jacksonville, Illinois
62650-2904. Index available for articles published in Past Quarterlies. Non-members, as well as members, may acquire Past Quarterlies by a donation. Inquire about articles or library holdings by phone, letter, or email. Meetings
are
held
at the society library every fourth Thursday, except
November
and December, which are combined into one meeting on a date chosen by
the
local members. |
